The 100 Recap: 6.09 ‘What You Take With You’

The 100 6.09 What You Take With You

Last week’s hiatus demands a refresher before diving into the latest episode. Gabriel, Dioyza, and Octavia reached the anomaly, but when Dioyza and Octavia went through, only Octavia came out. Jon and Emori have been jailed in Sanctum and Russell sends out a search party for Bellamy and the others. And finally, Abby is able to save Marcus, but not the way you think. She adopted the Prime’s ability to keep the mind intact and transfer it to another body, as long as it’s one with black running through their veins. This is where we meet someone new, his name is Gavin. He left behind a wife and despite Raven giving him a chance to get out the procedure, he doesn’t. So now it’s Marcus in Gavin’s body and upon discovering his new, younger self, he asks her, what she has done? Oh and don’t forget Bellamy went after Jo so those two are roaming Sanctum alone with the Children of Gabriel still on the loose!

Good. Now that we’re all caught up, this week’s episode has a lot of near death experiences along with a death, but we’ll save that for the end.

This episode begins with finding out how Octavia is doing post-anomaly. She wakes up to Gabriel badgering her about what happened, but she tells him that she can’t remember anything. He believes she was gone longer than a few seconds and after convincing her that they need to find out exactly what happened when she went under, he injects her with a toxin, leaving her alone in the hut. Two boxes glow, one red and one green. She chooses red and she’s immediately thrown into the fighting pit back in the bunker and bombarded with images of her reign as Blodreina takeover.

Meanwhile, back on Eligius IV, Marcus demands to know whose body he’s in. Unsure on how to feel with the body-snatching situation, Abby consoles him. They kiss, but not for long because Marcus tells her that everything feels different. Tensions between these two are on a constant high throughout this episode.

Abby later wakes up to an empty bed and she stumbles into Raven and she asks her if it was worth it? Talk about awkward! Here Abby introduces Marcus to Gavin’s wife, Simone. Only making him feel worse for stealing him away and seeing the life his body had only makes him regret Abby’s decision even more. Seeing Marcus unhappy only makes Abby crack more.

Bellamy has Jo on a leash and everything is in control (surprisingly!) but then she seizes. Clarke’s brain is decaying faster and their window to save Clarke is diminishing. Bellamy cuts his finger and smears it on her forehead, acting as a precaution if the Children of Gabriel become suspicious of their blood. Good thing too because they are soon captured. Bellamy tells them that they have a way to make hosts, no longer needing to force those cursed with black blood to act as their puppets, but he won’t tell them if they harm Jo. He’ll only tell Gabriel. When they leave, Jo tells him that she’s been in love with Gabriel for the last 236 years and for the last 70, he’s been trying to kill her.

Clarke is using morse code again and Bellamy notices Jo’s annoyance. She tells him that Clarke can hear him and so he tells Clarke that he won’t let her die.

Raven and Marcus wake up Indra and goes through everything that’s happened and the secret to the Prime’s immortality. Marcus does not agree with taking someone else’s life and they plot to fix things—to takeover Eligius from Simone while Raven suggests they destroy the serum that creates the natblida blood.

Octavia comes face to face with Pike in the pit—the very same man who killed her love, Lincoln. He asks her what does she want? He asks her how does it feel to have everyone hate her? She tells him she doesn’t like it and hates herself for everything that’s happened. She wants forgiveness. Redemption. She faces off with her past self, Blodreina, and she kills her, proclaiming “Blodreina no more!”

Still chained to the wall in the Children of Gabriel’s cave, Jo comments on how exhausting and complicated Bellamy and Clarke’s relationship is! It’s pretty funny. The Children come back and when Jo resists, they hit her, revealing her black blood. They immediately try to execute her, knowing how valued her vessel is to the Primes, but then all of sudden, she fights her way out of it, leading Bellamy to call her Clarke. Their reunion is brief because he’s still chained and they hear more coming and he tells her to go without him. Still hesitant, but seeing no other way, she escapes leaving him alone.

They chase after her and Clarke runs into Jade who is caught off-guard and thinks it’s Jo, which gives Clarke the perfect opportunity to knock her out. Then she sees Jo, in the woods with her. Clarke contacts Gabriel, telling him that Jo is in her head and that they’re coming to him.

Octavia starts to leave without an explanation. She tells him the anomaly gave her a second chance, but before she goes they hear Clarke on the only radio that works. This stops Octavia in her tracks.

Meanwhile, Raven and Indra stop Simone to distract them long enough to destroy the serum when Abby puts two and two together. Marcus is going to float it. She runs, hoping to stop him before she loses him. She makes it but Marcus tells her goodbye and that he understands what she did as he would have done the same if it meant they could be together, but ultimately it’s still wrong. He tells her that this is how they get their humanity back, which was previously lost on the bunker during the dark year. Indra then pulls the switch, floating both Marcus and the Serum.

And that’s it! A lot happened here and this episode deserves a 9/10! I really liked how they shed light on Octavia and how she’s not as strong as she appears. Things do get to her and all she wants to do is redeem herself.

Will Clarke survive long enough to regain her body, free from Jo? What will happen to Bellamy now that the Children of Gabriel know that he lied about Jo’s blood? Where is Dioyza? Did she die? This still goes unanswered. How will Abby deal with losing the love of her life? And without the natblida serum what will happen to the Primes and their alliance with Skaikru?
