The Umbrella Academy Recap: 2.05 ‘Valhalla’

The Umbrella Academy 2.05 Valhalla

In the previous episode, we see The Handler train Lila, Klaus attempts to speak to Dave again and it goes terribly wrong, and Allison’s marriage is essentially over. After learning more about herself and her family, Vanya wants to leave and Harlan almost dies, but she brings him back and this leads to her and Sissy kissing. As for Diego, Lila, and Five, they sneak into the Mexican Consulate in search of Reginald where Diego comes across Grace and Lila chooses to help Five over Diego when the Swedes attack.

A Brief History of Pogo

In 1962 Cape Canaveral, a box labelled ‘Primates of Congo’ is opened with Grace (Jordan Claire Robbins) reaching out to hold Pogo’s hand. A group of scientists, along with Sir Reginald Hargreeves (Colm Feore), watch on as Pogo conducts an array of tests. Later on, they watch as Pogo is launched into space, but the mission fails and he’s brought in on a gurney. Reginald then injects him with a red liquid, which revives and heals him. We then see Reginald reciting the same Ancient Greek words of Homer that Five said to him in the previous episode.

Returning to the present, Lila (Ritu Arya) wants to leave and both Five (Aidan Gallagher) and Diego (David Castañeda) are querying her, so the pair leave. Back at Elliott’s, Diego and Luther (Tom Hopper) are blaming everything on Five and Luther tells them of when he first arrived as he saw Reginald. He travelled from Dallas back to their real home, only to find it filled with people, along with his father. Luther tried to tell him, but Reginald informs him of his strong dislike for children so he’s lying. With that, Five says it’s time for a family meeting.

Meanwhile, Klaus (Robert Sheehan) awakens to find himself on the floor of Allison’s (Emmy Raver-Lampman) kitchen and tells her why he’s in that state. As for Vanya (Ellen Page), she wakes up naked in bed with Sissy (Marin Ireland) and talks of them leaving together again when Carl drives in. Carl (Stephen Bogaert) is being somewhat overbearing towards Sissy, and this causes Vanya to get upset and she cracks a window and Harlan (Justin Paul Kelly) holds her hand to calm her.

Lila isn’t happy her mother has been lying and The Handler (Kate Walsh) says The Commission has no idea her and Lila are there. The Swedes are surrounded by the insane amount of cats when Lila drops a canister down the chimney, pretending to be The Commission and giving the target of Diego.

A Family Meeting

Elliott (Kevin Rankin) is talking about jello to Diego, Luther, and Vanya, and the crazy family drama is slowly unfolding. Allison, Five, and Klaus arrive with all of the Hargreeves siblings together again and Klaus wonders if they all got sexier… Vanya’s excited to have a sister and they hug, which was incredibly sweet after what transpired between them. Five wonders if Ben (Justin H. Min) is there, but Klaus lies and says no.

The siblings discuss the apocalypse and Diego wants to kill Reginald, whilst Five wants to find him. Vanya wonders if it’s them since they’re not supposed to be there. Let’s recap, shall we? Diego has been stalking Lee Harvey Oswald, Luther is working for Jack Ruby, Allison is involved in politics, and Klaus started a cult… Luther’s not having it about their father and tries to leave and when Five tries to stop him, Luther throws him over the railing. Now outside, Five sees Lila and chases after her.

Telling The Truth

Vanya, Klaus, and Allison decide to go get some tacos, but end up getting drunk at the salon talking about all of their issues and love before they have a little dance moment together. The trio then go their separate ways to speak the truth: Klaus enters the mansion, which is filled with his followers, while Allison returns home and has decided to tell Raymond (Yusuf Gatewood) everything. Vanya returns to the farm and she tries to tell Sissy she loves her, but she’s just spent the night with Carl. After Sissy says she can’t be with Vanya, we see Vanya leave the farm.

As for the other siblings, Diego goes after Luther and it seems a car has been following the pair. The driver steps out and gives them an invitation from Reginald inviting them for a meal.

Meanwhile, the Swedes are in a forest in search of Diego when they spy one of his knives, but Oscar (Tom Sinclair) is blown to bits when he steps on a bomb. Later on, the Swedes fire an arrow into the boat with the remnants of their brother.

As for Lila, she breaks into a building with Five still following and she taunts him, so the pair fight until Five bests her and The Handler reveals herself.
