In the previous episode, Vanya is interrogated by the FBI as they believe she’s a KGB agent and it causes her to recall her memories and she’s unable to control her powers. It also appears that she’s linked to Harlan. Meanwhile, Five plans to intercept an older version of himself who travels to 1963 to ensure JFK is killed, so then they can take his briefcase and return to 2019. Diego begins orientation at the Commission, but soon discovers that Vanya is what sets off the apocalypse. At the end of the episode, Klaus, Allison, and Diego can be seen trying to get to Vanya to stop her.
Vanya’s (Ellen Page) powers continue to flare and Allison (Emmy Raver-Lampman) tries to go towards her, but she’s knocked back and hits her head. Diego goes next, but not before Klaus (Robert Sheehan) tells him he looks like Antonio Banderas with the long hair. He then uses his knives to help him go against Vanya’s powers, but realises he won’t make it and it’s up to Klaus now. Klaus manages to get to the door and opens it, which flings open and sends him flying. But there’s a fourth Hargreeves sibling there! Ben (Justin H. Min) appears and he walks towards Vanya and then goes into her body.
Meanwhile, Sissy (Marin Ireland) finds Harlan (Justin Paul Kelly) and his colouring begins to turn to normal and he speaks for the first time, asking for Vanya. Naturally, Carl (Stephen Bogaert) is enraged and picks up Harlan to take him to an institution. However, Sissy holds up a gun and stands her ground.
Ben is in Vanya’s mind and finds her white violin on the dining table, which houses Vanya inside and she now remembers everything. She’s terrified of what she’s doing and that she lacks control. Ben says that she never had the chance to learn to control it and how her siblings are trying to help her. He begins to fade away and he won’t be able to leave with her, so the pair embrace and he whispers something for her to tell Klaus.
With Ben gone, Vanya wakes and her powers stop, which also sees Harlan return to normal. Sissy tells Carl that she does love Vanya and Carl is angered because he did everything right by her. Carl grabs the gun and it fires with the bullet heading towards Harlan, but a surge of power sends the bullet flying back towards Carl and kills him.
The Fives Face Off
Luther (Tom Hopper) plans to go with Older Five (Sean Sullivan), all the while Five (Aidan Gallagher) is suffering from a terrible case of paradoxical psychosis.
Older Five prepares his gun for his last mission, while Five eyes of the briefcase in a very Gollum-esque manner. Luther talks the two Fives down, which is then followed by Five kicking Luther in the balls and the Fives begin zapping in and out and fighting one another. Luther picks up the gun and aims for Five, but then knocks out Older Five.
Five opens the vortex, which shows the scene from Season 1, Episode 1, and Five gives Older Five the correct math. However, Season1-Klaus knocks out Luther with the fire extinguisher he throws through the vortex, so Older Five runs for the briefcase. The two Fives wrestle over the briefcase, but with the vortex shrinking, Luther kicks Older Five through. Unfortunately, the briefcase gets chopped in half.
Case 743
The Handler (Kate Walsh) is trying on a new outfit and she’s aware Diego has gone missing already. Herb (Ken Hall) enters and tells Lila (Ritu Arya) that Diego took control of the Infinite Switchboard and stole a briefcase. Whilst all of this has been happening, AJ has been moving rocks around in his fishbowl and when Herb peers in, he sees the numbers ‘743’. Lila wants Diego to live, but The Handler won’t allow it.
In a filing room, Herb finds case 743 and removes a page from the folder. Later on, Lila finds Herb and asks where Diego went and he tells her about the escape. He then gives her a page from case 743, which leaves her upset.
Lila then confronts The Handler as her parents were executed by Five and that AJ gave the order, but in a flashback, The Handler is seen approving the kill order. The Handler then manipulates Lila into believing that Diego knew and it’s now time to solve their problem. Once Lila leaves, The Handler confronts AJ before she swallows the fish whole.
History Repeating
Vanya awakens and finds her siblings with Diego still on the mission to save JFK, while their father arrives on the scene with his umbrella. The siblings watch on, spying their father when they see Diego run towards him and tackle him, but it’s not their father. The shots are fired and the man gives Diego a note saying ‘told you so’.
The Majestic 12 are in the same restaurant the siblings visited when Reginald (Colm Feore) arrives. One of the members says JFK had to go and it seems Reginald was lied to. Reginald supplied them with the rocket technology to help beat the Russians to the moon and now he asks to never contact him again. However, they still want his technology, otherwise they will tell the world who he really is.
Taking off his jacket, Reginald raises his arms behind his head and removes the skin on his head and we see the back of an alien-like head. Putting down his Reginald-mask, he then walks towards the members and proceeds to kill them all.
Meanwhile, The Handler rehearses her speech when she’s interrupted and pays a visit to the Infinite Switchboard. She asks the operator if he has shown the issues to anyone else, which she hasn’t, so she kills him. She then recalls all their personnel and announces they’re going to war.
