For those who don’t know, Netflix’s To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, which is based on the book series by Jenny Han, will be getting a sequel! PS I Still Love You recently wrapped filming about a month ago in Vancouver.
As for the plot, here’s what we know! “Lara Jean didn’t expect to fall for Peter Kavinsky. Lara Jean Song Covey and Peter Kavinsky are finally a real couple. But what if another boy in Lara Jean’s past comes back to her life? Lara Jean is confused more than ever. Is it possible to be in love with two boys at once?”
Unfortunately, we don’t have a release date, any clips, behind the scenes photos, or any information from the cast and crew as of yet. However, to help lessen your impatience, here are some things from the book we hope to see come to life!
Stormy
This is a new character that has been introduced in P.S. I Still Love You. She is one of the senior citizens living at Belleview. Lara Jean (Lana Condor) volunteers at the senior home, which is why she knows Stormy, and the pair form a close bond. Having the two have a scene together that shows how much the two individuals from different generations can learn from each other would be amazing! Of course, we’re looking forward to seeing Lara Jean’s reaction when she finds out John Ambrose is Stormy’s grandson. Stormy will be played by Holland Taylor (Legally Blonde, Mr. Mercedes).
Trina Rothschild
The lovable father Dr. Covey (John Corbett) has raised three daughters all on his own ever since the passing of Eve Song, mother of the Song sisters and wife of Dan Covey. As Dr. Covey claims to be content with his life and his daughters do not need to meddle with his love life. However, he does give their neighbour Trina a chance, especially when Kitty (Anna Cathcart) is constantly putting the two together! We would love to see how Trina and Dr. Covey get together through Kitty. This character was briefly mentioned in the first book, but not in the first film adaptation. Trina Rothschild will be played by Sarayu Blue (Monday Mornings, I Feel Bad).
John Ambrose
John Ambrose will be having a larger role in the movie sequel as he was one of the boys Lara Jean used to love before. John Ambrose deserves to have a backstory shown in the film’s sequel and it would be nice to see cute flashbacks scenes of John Ambrose and Lara Jean back in middle school! Unfortunately Jordan Burchett (who originated the role in the TATBILB film) will not be returning as John Ambrose and instead he will be played by Jordan Fisher (Rent: Live, Liv and Maddie).
USO Party Scene
Oh how can they not a miss an iconic scene from the book?! Like come on, Lara Jean and John Ambrose all dressed up and John Ambrose driving a Mustang to Belleview. They dance and have fun with all the seniors, including Stormy! It is a night that would be unforgettable for the two of them.
Assassin Scene
Imagine reuniting with your middle school squad once again? Yes, indeed! In the second book Lara Jean plans a mini reunion with her former friend group back in middle school, which includes Peter Kavinsky (Noah Centineo), Genevieve (Emilija Baranac), Christine (Madeleine Arthur), and John Ambrose McClaren (Jordan Fisher). Then lastly Peter Kavinsky’s best friend who will make an appearance this time in the movie sequel, Trevor Pike (Ross Butler, 13 Reasons Why). They play a game of Assassins once more in honour of what they’ve done back in middle school.
Peter and Lara Jean’s Relationship
In this sequel, their relationship is put the test. Now that their relationship is real and there is no longer a contract, what’s going to happen? With an ex-crush of Lara Jean’s coming back into her life and Gen constantly going back to Peter, they go through a series of events in the story because after all, this is Lara Jean’s first real boyfriend. On which path they are about to take as a couple or perhaps, how they will deal with the bumps in the road. We would love to see how their relationship translates on screen!
We need new updates about this movie sequel. But knowing Netflix, they keep everything top secret. As any fan of the book, we hope it would be similar as possible just like how they done the first movie. To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before was one of Netflix most successful films!
As of now, IMDB says this sequel will come out in 2020.
