Killing Eve Recap: 3.08 ‘Are You Leading or Am I?’

Killing Eve Recap 308 Are You Leading or Am I

Royal Albert Hall, London

Villanelle (Jodie Comer) is meeting Carolyn (Fiona Shaw) as she is wanting to accept the job offer from a while ago. Carolyn asks what exactly Villanelle wants to do if she does not want to kill for them. Villanelle says that she can change, but Carolyn rejects her offer.

Konstantin (Kim Bodnia) wants to leave the hospital and rips all of his tubes out and Dasha (Harriet Walter) tells him that it’s not smart to leave. She also informs him that Villanelle was the one that hit her, but Konstantin asks if she is really surprised as Dasha tried to kill her in the past. Dasha begs him to stay and they realise they are both to blame for what Villanelle has done. Konstantin walks away and Dasha flatlines.

Villanelle is watching people dance and Eve (Sandra Oh) arrives. Villanelle tells her that she killed for the first time in England in this place. She wonders out loud what would have happened if she had refused to kill this person and Eve tells Villanelle about Niko. Villanelle says she wants to feel happy and carefree like the dancers when Eve asks Villanelle to dance. Rhian (Alexandra Roach), Hélène’s friend, arrives and is watching them. Villanelle tells Eve to leave and gives her a piece of paper.

Villanelle and Rhian are at the train station together and Rhian starts yelling at Villanelle and they fight. Villanelle strangles Rhian, but lets her go until Villanelle kicks her down onto the tracks in front of an oncoming train.

Geraldine (Gemma Whelan) is reading an apology letter to Carolyn. Carolyn is supposed to respond, but the only thing she does is tell Geraldine that she should leave.

Croydon, South London

Eve is holding the piece of paper (which we now realise is the note Villanelle took from Konstantin). She walks into a betting place and talks to the owner Bruce and he tells her that this is the Russian’s box.

Carolyn comes into Kenny’s office for a meeting and Bear (Turlough Covenry) tells her that he installed a camera because someone was stealing his sweets. The camera shows that the night Kenny left, Konstantin was there and Kenny left with him.

Eve is leaving the betting place when Konstantin bumps into her and asks for the package, which contains Russian dolls that have a barcode on them which lead to another safety box. Konstantin clutches his heart and they go to sit down.

Villanelle arrives at the office as she is looking for Eve. She looks at the board of murders and tells them that she did not do all of them. All three (Bear, Jamie, and Audre) start freaking out. Konstantin calls her to ask Eve to hand it over and Villanelle tells him that it might be better if Eve keeps it and that she will meet them.

Konstantin gets a call from Paul, who tells him that he knows that Konstantin has been taking the money. We see that Paul (Steve Pemberton) has a gun pointed at his head. Eve decides to go with Konstantin.

When they get to Paul’s, Carolyn is there holding a gun. The doorbell rings and Villanelle joins the ‘party’. Konstantin tells them that he has been getting his orders from Paul and Carolyn shoots at a statue to prove that she will indeed shoot anyone. Konstantin tells everybody that Dasha is dead.

Carolyn confronts Konstantin about Kenny and he says that he was just trying to warn Kenny as Paul wanted him dead, so he was trying to save him but Kenny stepped too far back and fell. Carolyn points the gun at Konstantin, he tells her that he loves her and asks Villanelle to save him, but she tells him that he is not family. Carolyn shoots Paul and lets Konstantin go. Eve is annoyed as she doesn’t think she should have shot Paul as he knew a lot. Carolyn tells her that they can’t destroy The 12 and Eve storms out.

Villanelle runs after Eve. They stop on the London Bridge and Eve tells Villanelle that she killed Dasha, but Villanelle says that they both did. Villanelle tells Eve that she doesn’t want to do this anymore and Eve confides that when she thinks about her future all she sees is her. Villanelle asks Eve if she thinks she is a monster, but Eve tells her that everybody has a monster inside of them, some just keep them hidden. Villanelle says that they encourage each other’s monsters. Eve wants Villanelle to help her and that she wants out. They turn back to back and Villanelle tells her to walk and not look back. They start walking but both stop and turn around to look at each other!

Overall Thoughts?

I loved this episode! It was my favourite one of the entire season! It was so well done and we got to see everybody come together, but also how much they have all changed. Eve and Villanelle are too much and I can’t wait to see what happens next for these two, that scene on the London Bridge was beautifully shot and so clever!

Overall Thoughts On The Season?

This season was definitely not my favourite, I loved the last episode, but it seemed all over the place for me. I also didn’t really like any of the new characters. I do think Villanelle’s character arc this season was incredible and Villanelle and Eve’s relationship was super interesting to watch. I can’t wait for Season 4 (I know we will have a long wait ahead of us though).
