Book Review: Killing Sarai by J.A Redmerski

Killing Sarai by J.A Redmerski Review

Killing Sarai J.A RedmerskiKilling Sarai is the first instalment in the adult suspense series, “In the Company of Killers” by J.A Redmerski. These seven books are filled with murder, suspense, love and danger. Sarai was only 14 years old when she began living amongst the most dangerous drug lords in Mexico after her mother abandoned her for a drug lord named Javier , who takes a particular liking to Sarai. This is the only life she now knows—one filled with murder, terror and the lust for survival. Javier has chosen her to be his “it” girl, one who is off-limits to any other cartel member except him. Sarai is forced to adapt to her surroundings and do what she can do to keep the other captives and herself safe.

Enter Victor, a cold-blooded assassin, paid by Javier to execute a hit. When Victor is ready to leave, Sarai takes her only opportunity to sneak out of the compound in the back of his truck and finally freeing herself from the cartel’s grip. Little does Sarai know, Victor is just as dangerous, and freedom is not yet in sight.

Forced to decide between a life spent with trained hitmen or certain death by returning to Javier’s camp, Sarai is on the run for her life. But what is worse? The cartel? Or Victor?

Killing Sarai is a breathtaking account of escape and love, which follows a morally grey character whose actions are both realistic and devious. Then there’s the sexy love interest who fights his instinct to kill an innocent girl looking to escape. This is a book that will have you on the edge of your seat and expecting the unexpected.

Told from Sarai and Victor’s perspectives, this book is not only fast paced, but the short chapters make for a speedy read. Each book in the series are around 200-350 pages long making it the perfect series to binge read!

SYNOPSIS | GOODREADS

Sarai was only fourteen when her mother uprooted her to live in Mexico with a notorious drug lord. Over time she forgot what it was like to live a normal life, but she never let go of her hope to escape the compound where she has been held for the past nine years.

Victor is a cold-blooded assassin who, like Sarai, has known only death and violence since he was a young boy. When Victor arrives at the compound to collect details and payment for a hit, Sarai sees him as her only opportunity for escape. But things don’t go as planned and instead of finding transport back to Tucson, she finds herself free from one dangerous man and caught in the clutches of another.

While on the run, Victor strays from his primal nature as he succumbs to his conscience and resolves to help Sarai. As they grow closer, he finds himself willing to risk everything to keep her alive; even his relationship with his devoted brother and liaison, Niklas, who now like everyone else wants Sarai dead.

As Victor and Sarai slowly build a trust, the differences between them seem to lessen, and an unlikely attraction intensifies. But Victor’s brutal skills and experience may not be enough in the end to save her, as the power she unknowingly holds over him may ultimately be what gets her killed. This is their story…
