In a taut, haunting follow-up to No Lie Lasts Forever, reporter Flynn Martin gets ensnared in a copycat killer’s game where winning means solving a crime―and losing could cost her everything.

Intrigued? Read on to discover the synopsis and an excerpt from Two Truths and a Lie by Mark Stevens, which releases on April 7th 2026.

Lambasted for a tragedy caught live on camera, then lauded for her help capturing the elusive PDQ, a serial killer, Flynn Martin’s career has reached new heights. But now, the TV journalist and mother has much further to fall. And someone wants to push her over the edge.

PDQ is behind bars, for life and then some, but someone on the outside has picked up the killer’s mantle. Flynn is neck-deep in an investigation when the copycat emerges, targeting her sources and delivering cryptic messages. It’s clear that Flynn’s stories are getting deadlier. This one proves no exception.

A family of four has gone missing, leaving behind ties to New Hope Church more tangled than they appear. The dangerous web rivals the threat in Flynn’s personal life. And it’s up to her to unravel each knot.

Scandal. Conspiracy. Murder. Flynn hardly knows where to begin―and if her stalker has their way, she might not live to see the end.

Excerpt from Chapter 6

Flynn retrieves the form from the front hall table, finds a pen in a cup by the stove, signs where it says Parent Signature, and wonders who wouldn’t approve of their offspring seeing dinosaur tracks. Maybe the evolution-doesn’t-exist crowd? Or protective parents who think that exposing your kids to the fact that dinosaurs once roamed the land might be too traumatic, give them nightmares? Flynn puts the form back on the table for Wyatt to find.

She’s sure the envelope is likely a personal entreaty to connect with school committees or volunteering, but the small, neat typing on the front makes her stop.

One word.

FLYNN

Tiny font, bold face, underlined.

Gray envelope.

Tightly sealed.

Well, she’s been fooled by plenty of texts that begin with heartfelt openings, only to realize they are mass political spam. This is likely some such trick.

She finds her letter opener in the same cup as the pen, slits the seal with more than the usual effort.

Inside, a white sheet of paper.

Miss Flynn,

Nice condo.

Of course, you don’t know me.

But I know you.

I know what you’re afraid of.

I mean, why the move? Right?

You thought it was over, right?

Think again.

I will be in touch.

You will do nothing.

Because you will have no choice to do nothing.

Soon—very soon—you will realize why you will do nothing.

This time, no patterns.
