It is Tuesday again and it’s time for more mutants! Reality hits our beloved Mutants hard in the stomach and could give us a plot twist that we have not expected to see.
In the new episode, we flashback to 16 years ago when Kate was pregnant with Andy where she had to decide between her own health or keeping the baby. While Reed is thinking about baby Lauren and his wife, Kate makes it clear that she will fight for her son, and this mother bear never stopped.
Marcos tells the others of what he had to go through while being in the HQ of the Inner Circle. They still want to free Lorna, Dawn, and Andy, but they realise it more and more that this is a fight they might lose.
Nevertheless, Clarice, Johnny, and Marcos go back to the hacker’s hideout and want to speak with Wire in hopes he could give them more information what the Inner Circle is up to next. They learn that after Kate and Marcos’ meeting that he was killed by the Frost Sisters. His brother refuses to help them and shoots Johnny a couple of time, until he and Marcos can take him down and take him to the secret room in the medical center. While Marcos is threatening him, Kate has another idea to loosen his tongue, by giving him drugs.
Ok, stop. I agree with Clarice. That goes way too far and is everything I did not expected to see from her. I understand that she only wants her kid back, but she crossed a line that she should not cross. Especially, because she almost killed the guy!
Before he has a heart attack, he tells them that the Inner Circle is planning on breaking into Lynwood Hospital, a facility that locks up mutants and does experiments on them. While Lauren and Marcos are keeping an eye on the outside of the building, Clarice opens a portal and goes into the building with Johnny.
Another little reference to X-Men movie: Days of Future Past. And while we are at it already, Johnny tells Clarice that Lorna was locked up in a similar facility as a teenager and word is that her birth father made a call to get her out of it. Come on guys, enough of going around his name! Thanks to the comics, we know who it is so spill it already!
Can we also just take a moment to discuss the fact that Clarice and Johnny went into the facility with armed only with an axe? I mean, alone the fact that Lorna and Andy can bring down a building with their powers, what could they do with that little axe? That aside, what I like about Clarice is that she has gotten a nice upgrade when it comes to her sarcasm in this season.
Sadly, it turns out that Evangeline was right. Once in the Inner Circle, no one gets out of it. Lorna and Andy are completely brainwashed. They break out one mutant and let the other running free injured. Lauren is convinced that only she can get through to Andy, but unfortunately she cannot and Andy uses his power on her and Marcos, and Lauren hits her head on the asphalt and ends up unconscious.
So the Inner Circle freed some mutant and made the ones responsible give a statement on TV for their unlawful behaviour of imprisonment and torture of innocence mutants.
Two other things happened in this episode: Reed discusses his powers with Johnny, who tells him that he only needs to train his powers and everything will be fine.
However, Reed wants to get rid of them because he now understands how horrifying it all is. At the end of the episode, after Reed hears that Lauren is injured, Kate sees for the first time what he is able to do and looks rather shocked. Really, after everything you have been through you still are against mutant powers and get still surprised of what they can do? I suggest to finally embrace the reality as it is and accept it.
Of course, there was a little going forward when it comes to Agent Turner. He is torn between being with his wife and the duty he thinks he still has when it comes to fight mutants. Let’s see what will happen to him now after he contacted the officer who wants to put humans first.
