From focusing on father and daughter relationships to creating a new world in favour of Mutants, The Gifted is moving forward fast.
Again, the episode starts with a flashback. Marcos is visiting his father on his death bed, with whom he has a complicated relationship with. Be prepared to see a desperate Marcos. Back in the present, Dawn suffers from a mutated form of jaundice and the only one who can help her getting better is Marcos and his powers.
Meanwhile, Marcos sleeps in after getting drunk the night before and forgets to meet with Johnny to find the mutant separatist of which Evangeline told them. Still too drunk, Johnny takes Clarice with him and asks Marcos to take it slow and rethink his behaviour.
Clarice: “The next time you drunk-dial your ex, just make sure you don’t include the entire Eastern Seaboard.”
The Frost Sisters are on their way to get Marcos and Reeva wants Andy to be by her side when he enters the room. Clarice and Johnny are on their way to find the mutant separatist, Erg. After a time wandering through a labyrinth of tunnels, they discover an invisible passage through a wall, but it is not until Clarice looks through a portal that they find Erg. Deep under DC, there is a mutant underground for mutants with visible marks, calling themselves Morlocks, that cannot blend to life alongside humans in hiding.
Erg only wants to talk to Clarice because due to the fact that she is “one of them”. He tells her that the X-Men only fought for tolerance and not for freedom and it is up to them now to change that and he only is willing to give information on the Inner Circle to her when she accepts to be a spy for him. But, spying on what or who?
Agent Turner arrives in Washington and is eager to investigate the current events and asking for cooperation with the local police. He even almost catches Lauren and Reed.
Lauren and Reed went out to get more medical supplies and while talking to Caitlin, his powers come out and destroy the steering wheel and the car loses control. After getting out of the now crashed car, they search for a new car and Lauren asks her dad why he did not tell them anything. However, she kind of understands because it was not easy for her as well, especially because back then her father worked for the Mutant Taskforce. Now, Reed has to confess everything to his family.
The episode is all about father’s and their daughters. The Frost Sisters bring Marcos to the Inner Circle HQ and he can finally meet his daughter, Dawn aka Aurora. He uses his solar power to heal Dawn and afterwards, he wants to convince Lorna to come with him. If not, then he will join the Circle and forget about what they are doing if it means he could be with his family.
Even though the situation is not easy for Lorna and Marcos, you can see a glimpse of what kind of loving parents they could be together. At least, Marcos/ was able to give Dawn the rattle he made for her.
The Sisters want to get him out of the building immediately and try to get into his head, but he fights through the mental manipulation and warns Lorna that they are lying to her and that she should not believe a single word. Only Reeva is able to stop him from bringing the house down. Later, Marcos goes to Johnny and tells him everything and now he wants to fight back hard.
Before Marcos collapses on Johnny and Clarice’s kitchen floor, Clarice tries to get out of Johnny what is bothering him. He then confesses to her what Evangeline thinks about him and that he and his friends may not be able to get Lorna and Andy out of the Circle alive.
The only problem now is, while Johnny finally told her the truth, she is now hiding what Erg asked her to do and that could tear the couple slowly apart.
With all the talk about the Hellfire Club and Inner Circle, it is time that Reeva shows us what the revolution really is about and how Andy and Lorna fit into her plans.
