More comedy comes to Netflix with their latest Original series, Family Reunion, which centers on a family as they move to a new state.
When the McKellan family moves from Seattle to Georgia to be closer to extended family, the transition is like being a catfish out of water. From three-hour church services and huge humidity hair to M’Dear’s home cooking and family bonding, the everyday ups and downs of Family Reunion are real, memorable, toe tapping, heart stopping, laugh out loud authentic moments.
In an interview with Deadline, creator and executive producer Meg DeLoatch spoke about having an all-black writers room: “I am extremely proud of this show,” said DeLoatch. “It is a true collaboration, with everyone on this production, from the cast and writers, to the directors, staff and crew, contributing personal stories and traditions to help make our family dynamic and relatable.”
Tia Mowry (Sister Sister, Instant Mom) stars as Cocoa McKellan, a free-spirited mother from Seattle. “From day one I knew that this show was going to be special and I am so grateful to be a part of it,” said Mowry. “It’s full of heart, it’s magical, funny, and refreshing. I can’t wait for the world to meet the McKellans and fall in love with them as much as I have.”
The series stars Emmy-Award winner Loretta Devine (Grey’s Anatomy), Tia Mowry (Sister, Sister), Anthony Alabi, Talia Jackson, and Jordyn Raya James.
