We chat with author Megan Frampton about Demons and Diplomacy, which sees a tantalising pact between an ordinary woman and the silver-tongued son of the Devil is all that stands between Britain—and all hell breaking loose.
Hi, Megan! Can you tell our readers a bit about yourself?
I live in Brooklyn, NY, with my daughter. I love danmei, K-pop, BL, and tea.
When did you first discover your love for writing and stories?
I started writing when I decided to stay at home with my then 2 ½ year old. I thought I might go insane if I didn’t have something that was mine and creative.

Your latest novel, Demons and Diplomacy, is out now! If you could only describe it in five words, what would they be?
Witty, fun, sexy, delicious, and empowering.
What can readers expect?
Lots of wordplay, introspective characters, some improbable hijinks, and Queen Victoria as a vampire.
Where did the inspiration for Demons and Diplomacy come from?
I’ve had the idea to write a world where supernatural creatures exist for maybe a decade, though at first I thought it’d be set in NYC and be contemporary—kind of a not-so-serious noir.
Were there any moments or characters you really enjoyed writing or exploring?
I loved writing when Marcellus and Cora are talking inside their heads.
Did you face any challenges whilst writing? How did you overcome them?
Always? I mean, procrastination is a real challenge. I tried to keep going, bit by bit, so I wouldn’t get daunted by the entirety of the thing.
What’s next for you?
The second book in the Ministry of Supernatural Affairs series!
Lastly, what books are you looking forward to picking up? Any you’ve read so far this year that you’ve enjoyed?
I have, but have not yet started, the final book in the Ballad of Sword and Wine danmei series (I never thought I would care this much about wheat distribution). I am looking forward to reading more in the Chainsaw Man manga series (I’m up to book 5), and all the other danmei titles on my TBR.
