May 2018 Movies Solo Star Wars

Almost nearing the halfway point of 2018, the month of May beholds two highly anticipated movie releases! This month we’ll be seeing a different kind of man in red with the release of the Deadpool sequel, plus there’s also the latest addition to the Star Wars franchise with Solo, which follows the adventures of a young Han Solo.

If you’re after some laughs, Melissa McCarthy’s movie is guaranteed to do so along with Anna Faris starring in the 1987 remake of Overboard.

Deadpool 2

Solo: A Star Wars Story

Starring Alden Ehrenreich (Rules Don’t Apply), Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones), Thandie Newton (Westworld), Donald Glover (Atlanta), Woody Harrelson (The Hunger Games), and Paul Bettany (Avengers: Age of Ultron).

Life Of The Party

Dumped by her husband, longtime housewife Deanna turns regret into reset by going back to college. Winding up at the same school as her daughter, Deanna plunges headlong into the campus experience — embracing the fun, the freedom and the frat boys. Starring Melissa McCarthy (Bridesmaids), Gillian Jacobs (Community), Debby Ryan (Every Day), Adria Arjorna (Pacific Rim: Uprising), Julie Bowen (Modern Family), and Maya Rudolph (Bridesmaids).

Diane is recently widowed after 40 years of marriage, Vivian enjoys her men with no strings attached, Sharon is still working through her decades-old divorce, and Carol’s marriage is in a slump after 35 years. The lives of these four lifelong friends are turned upside down after reading the infamous “50 Shades of Grey,” catapulting them into a series of outrageous life choices. Overboard

Kate is a single, working-class mother of three who’s hired to clean a luxury yacht that belongs to Leonardo — a selfish, spoiled and wealthy Mexican playboy. After unjustly firing Kate, Leonardo falls off the boat and wakes up with no memory of who he is. To get payback, Kate shows up at the hospital and convinces the confused amnesiac that they’re married. As Leonardo tries to get used to manual labor and his new family, Kate starts to wonder how long she can keep fooling her fake husband. Starring Anna Faris (Mom), Eva Longoria (Desperate Housewives), and Eugenio Derbez (Geostorm).

On Chesil Beach

Based on Ian McEwan’s novel, the film is set in 1962 England where a young couple find their idyllic romance colliding with issues of sexual freedom and societal pressure, leading to an awkward and fateful wedding night. Starring Saoirse Ronan (Lady Bird), Emily Watson (The Theory of Everything), and Billy Howle (Dunkirk).

Tully

The film is about Marlo, a mother of three including a newborn, who is gifted a night nanny by her brother. Hesitant to the extravagance at first, Marlo comes to form a unique bond with the thoughtful, surprising, and sometimes challenging young nanny named Tully. Starring Charlize Theron (Atomic Blonde), Mackenzie Davis (Halt and Catch Fire), Ron Livingston (The Conjuring), and Mark Duplass (The Mindy Project).

Bad Samaritan

A young valet breaks into a man’s home and discovers a terrified woman who’s chained and gagged. After notifying the police, he soon becomes the target of the psychopath’s wrath as he tries to rescue the victim that he left behind. Starring David Tennant (Doctor Who), Kerry Condon (Better Call Saul), Robert Sheehan (Misfits), and Jacqueline Byers (Salvation).

Show Dogs

Max, a macho, solitary Rottweiler police dog is ordered to go undercover as a primped show dog in a prestigious Dog Show, along with his human partner, to avert a disaster from happening. Starring Will Arnett (The Lego Batman Movie), Natasha Lyonne (Orange Is The New Black) and RuPaul, plus featuring the voices of Alan Cumming (The Good Wife), Stanley Tucci (Easy A), Gabriel Iglesias (Magic Mike XXL), Shaquille O’Neal and Ludacris.
