Article contributed by Coline Pechberty-Pautal

You just finished a mindblowing fantasy saga, a heartwrenching book that left you in tears, or you just need a cute story to lighten up your mood? You want an easy low-stake read, an enjoyable standalone that you can devour in a few days, with a happy ending, no cliffhanger, and a compelling story?

Well read on to discover these Kindle Unlimited book recommendations featuring workplace romances!

So That Happened by Katie Bailey
Meet Annie, the sunshine female lead, clumsy in a ‘put-her-foot-in-her-mouth-at-every-turn way’, and Liam, her hot, grumpy, new boss. They first meet on a plane and end up having to share a bed for one night, resulting in some accidental spooning… And then they meet again, a couple of days later, but at work this time.

The story is funny and the relationship is an adorable slow-burn written with a dual POV. It’s the perfect rom-com if you want a book that makes you feel better and leaves you with a smile on your lips.

A Favor For A Favor by Helena Hunting
The story follows Stevie—new to Seattle, newly heartbroken, and starting her first job—and Bishop—the big, broody, and a bit judgemental, professional hockey player living across the hall—and how they’ll go from antagonising neighbours to friends helping each other, to more. The two main characters are both grumpy, and both with quite an attitude, making for some funny and sexy banter between them!

This book is for you if you like: an assertive female lead, underwear competitions, and a slow-burn relationship with a bit of spice. On top of that, you’ll also get an asshole ex-boyfriend that will be nicely told to back off by the hot neighbour and an (over) protective older brother who puts obstacles up in his sister’s love life.

A Code For Love by Bal Khabra
Featuring all of the favourite tropes, the two main characters are neighbours and colleagues, they start as enemies, but end up having to spend a lot of time together, and their interactions become hotter as the story develops. This is a laugh-out-loud book with great representation (Indian and African American characters and cultural elements) and some spicy encounters.

Naz, 24, leaves her strict parents’ house in search of independence and a chance to prove herself. She ends up living a floor below Jordan, who also happens to be her new boss…and well, HOT. Their lives keep colliding in small and bigger ways, pushing them little by little into each other’s arms.

Pick up this book if you want grumpy, headstrong, and diverse characters, a little fake dating, and a lot of tension.

Protector’s Promise by Sarah Blue
This book is not exactly a workplace romance, but… close enough? The story, set in an Omegaverse, follows pop star Deja Fox/Cami Jenson and her new alpha bodyguard, Smith. She’s looking for safety and privacy, for someone she can trust and be herself with when so much of her life is in the spotlight. While they get to know each other better, Smith starts to want to protect Cami in ways above what his job entails, but he doesn’t think he can offer her everything he believes she wants and deserves. As they grow closer, he tries to keep things professional, until she goes into heat (at a fancy place called Heat Haven), and he has to be there for her protection. Then, the tension between them increases tenfold.

The whole concept of the book is forced proximity between a sweet and relatable female lead struggling with the expectations of stardom and the reality of being an omega, and a grumpy, protective, but also compassionate, alpha male.
