‘Elite’ Season 3 Recap

Elite Season 3

Between Love, Hate and Murder – Elite Season 3

Welcome back to Las Encinas! Pick your seat and start to take in the faces around you, one of them may hurt you or perhaps murder you. Guys, Elite is back for their third round and again someone dies. There’s also only 8 episodes again for you to binge watch, which is not enough for this incredible show.

Season 2 ended with the reveal of who killed Marina, which was Polo, and it left us waiting with the question: why Polo is not in prison? Thank goodness that season 3 picked up where they left off. As usual, a lot is going on for each and every one of them and in the end, one of them is dead and we discover who turned into a murderer this time.

Every episode of the latest season is named after one of the main characters focusing on them and their problems and secrets. However, that does not mean that those of the others are not a topic or continued in the other episodes as well during the season.

Let’s take a closer look at them …

Carla

The Marchioness (Ester Expósito) is facing hard times. Not only has her father forbidden her to date Samuel, her family company is bankrupt, and her father puts the weight of rescuing their business on her. Yeray (Sergio Momo), a former chubby kid Carla defended when he got bullied on social media, invented a dating app which turned him to a self-made millionaire, and he asks her to go out on a date with him. Her father sees the opportunity that if his daughter keeps dating him, he could invest into the family business and save it. In fact, Carla’s father asked her to essentially prostitute herself for him.

Carla, who likes Yeray as a friend, does not cope well with playing the perfect girlfriend. When Yeray offers her to move in with him, she starts using drugs to keep her mood up, which almost kills her.

On one of her trips, she confesses it to him. Yeray is hurt but not angry with her and offers her his friendship. He still is interested in investing into Carla’s family business, but only when her father steps aside and makes his daughter the CEO.

Samuel and Guzmán

The former enemies have become close friends during season 2 and have a common goal: get Polo expelled from school. They open up a Twitter account posting part of his confession on it and they do not get tired to show their hate toward him.

Of course, each of them has something going on besides Polo. Samuel (Itzan Escamilla) starts dating Rebeca, even though he is still madly in love with Carla. He lives on his own because his mother has followed his brother to his safe place. Samuel gets approached by the Inspectora who asks him to plant a bug in Rebeca’s house to get down her mother’s drug business. Desperate to clear his brother’s crime file, he does not jeopardise his friendship with Rebeca. Samuel never gets bored.

Meanwhile, Guzmán (Miguel Bernardeau) has found solid ground with Lu, becoming friends again, while still being in love with Nadia. He sees that Nadia is struggling with studying while helping out at his father’s store as well, he seeks to speak with him offering him to take over some of Nadia’s shifts so that she can focus on her studies.

Cayetana and Valerio

It seems that Cayetana’s (Georgina Amorós) family is no focus at all in this season. We see her  with Polo and then there is Valerio (Jorge López). Cayetana loses herself in her love for Polo and does everything for him.

After Valerio and Lu had to confess their affair to their father, he gets kicked out and should return to his mother to Chile. However, he decides to stay because he cannot reach his mother, who obviously does not care about him. He sleeps in his car and starts dealing drugs until Cayetana and Polo invite him to live with them and start a  throuple relationship.

Lu

You will feel sorry for Lu (Danna Paola) in this season. The rich girl falls down to earth hard. After confessing her affair with Valerio to her father, he decides to disinherit her, which means that he will not pay for university. Lu spectacularly holds up the façade for a long time so that no one is suspecting anything. Realising that if she wants to get to university she needs to apply for a scholarship, so she starts to compete with Nadia for the Columbia University scholarship. While they compete, the former enemies become friends who help and support each other.

Ander

Get your tissues out, this one comes your way like a wrecking ball. While they are showing each other how much they love each other, Omar (Omar Ayuso) discovers a lump which turns out to be an aggressive form of leukaemia. Ander (Arón Piper) has to start chemo immediately. Feeling worn out, he starts to distance himself from Omar. He seems himself even with his diagnosis, but does not care about graduation. Ander even lies about him having an affair with another cancer patient, to let Omar go and find someone new before it is too late. Hold your breath, we will come back to that in a minute. *wink*

Rebeca

Rebeca (Claudia Salas) is facing unsure times. As mentioned before, Samuel placed a bug in her house for the Inspectora to take down her mother’s drug business. While her mother is in jail, she moves in with Samuel because she is not allowed to enter her house during the investigation. When Rebeca visits her mother, she keeps telling her about the box sack. Rebeca decides to break in with Samuel and finds out that the box sack is full with drugs. Desperate to pay her tuition, she decides to sell them. While Samuel does not want her to follow her mother’s footsteps, Valerio offers his help because he needs money, too. But this is not everything that keeps her going. She wants to know who sold her mother to the cops.

Nadia and Omar

You can bet that there is always a lot going on when it comes to Nadia (Mina El Hammani) and Omar. As mentioned before, Nadia struggles with her studies and dreams to get the scholarship for Columbia. Nadia wins the scholarship but feels sorry for Lu.

She meets Malick (Leïti Sène) who is her parents’ dream for a son-in-law. Nadia even starts to fall for him a bit. When he mentions that he plans to move to New York after graduation, Nadia’s parents even consider letting her go with him to study abroad. Little did we all know that Malick wants to use Nadia to hide a secret.

This secret is that he is gay and actually feeling something for her brother. Omar, feeling lost and lonely because of Ander’s illness, uses Malick’s affection towards him as an escape, regretting it immediately. Unfortunately Ander finds out about it, which made him break up with Omar, as mentioned before.

Polo

Finally, to the one person whose faith is essential in this season, Polo (Álvaro Rico). You could almost feel sorry for him, almost. His mothers’ force him to go back to school not knowing that everyone there hates him, for obvious reasons. Getting them finally to agree to send him to a school to London, the school does not accept him because of all the tweets of his confession being posted by Samuel and Guzmán.

His love life is complicated too. Being together with Cayetana, falling for Valerio and hiding the truth from his mothers. When he wants to come clean and right his wrongs, he dies.

Everything goes down in the last episode when they all go to a club to celebrate their graduation. So, over the course of the season, we see that every single one of them could have a reason to kill Polo. Before they all go their separate ways, they hold together for one last time, all of them touching the murder weapon and that way, it hides who the murderer is.

Carla will go to university far away and leaves Valerio in charge of her family business, while making sure that her father has nothing to say and everything will be reported to her.

Cayetana has lost her future with Polo or more a future Polo could have given her. His mothers offered to pay for any university she wants, but she refuses. She ends up cleaning the floors at Las Encinas.

Lu and Nadia are moving together with Malick to New York. However, we get a hint that Nadia and Guzmán will be together some day again. Omar and Ander find their way back together a bit quicker and Omar’s father finally accepts his son the way he is, making this season finale more bittersweet.

Rebeca, Samuel, and Guzmán get expelled before their finals and therefore have to attend another year at Las Encinas. They are joined by Omar and Ander.

Elite is one of the most innovative shows we have at the time. The character development catches you and does not let you go. No one is left behind and gets the same screen time. When you fall down the Las Encinas hole, you will not escape and to be honest, you do not want to!

What will happen next? Season 4 cannot come soon enough!
