Elite is a Spanish Netflix Original television series and it starts with three working class students being able to attend Las Encinas (a very prestigious high school). This series has combines a murder, a beautiful cast, the stunning language (you can totally call watching this show studying), and drama to create a show that you can not stop watching. This series is pretty much the mix of How To Get Away With Murder and Gossip Girl. So if you’ve already watched the first two seasons, let’s give you a refresher before the third season premieres on March 13th.
Season 1
The first season jumps back and forth between all the students being questioned by the police officer and in the past, which means we are constantly trying to piece together the mystery of who murdered Marina.
Main Plot Points
- Nano steals a very expensive watch from Carla’s father and gives it to Marina.
- Polo, being the loyal boyfriend he is, goes to get the watch from Marina.
- Marina and Polo fight by the pool and Polo hits Marina on the head with the trophy (the killer is revealed).
- Carla and Christian help Polo change and Christian lies to both Samuel and Nano (who is his best friend).
- Nano gets arrested for murdering Marina (but he didn’t do it), Samuel told the police about Marina and Nano’s relationship and that he saw Nano at the pool. Nano is the easy person to arrest (he has a previous record and comes from a poor family).
Relationships
As romance and friendship play a crucial role in this TV series, here is where we left most of these couples at the end of season 1.
- Samuel and Marina: They fall in love instantly and Samuel is left heartbroken.
- Omar and Ander: Omar and Ander are secretly dating.
- Lu and Guzmán: The on and off ‘it’ couple. The season ends with Guzmán admitting he is in love with Nadia, but returning to Lu’s open arms.
- Guzmán and Nadia: Although this relationship started with Lu trying to get Guzmán to break Nadia’s heart, these two fall in love and Nadia even tells her father that she is not willing to give this relationship up.
- Polo, Carla, and Christian: These three are in a three way relationship. Christian is in love with Carla and Polo discovers he might be into guys. These three all work together to protect Polo as the murderer of Marina.
- Marina and Nano: The pair start seeing each other while Marina is also dating Samuel, she is pregnant with his baby when she dies. Marina encourages Nano to steal the watch from Carla. Nano finds Marina’s body at the pool. They were going to run away together (talk about a bad ending to a relationship).
Siblings
- Nano and Samuel: They were both dating Marina, definitely not upholding the bro code.
- Guzmán and Marina: Kind of close, Guzmán was very protective.
- Omar and Nadia: They are close and when Nadia finds out about Ander and Omar, she keeps their secret.
Friendships
- Samuel and Omar: Samuel is not impressed about Omar dealing drugs.
- Nano and Christian: Best friends but Christian let’s Nano go to jail for something he didn’t do.
- Polo, Guzmán and Ander: All three are really close but are all keeping secrets .
A brief breakdown of where we left the main characters in Season 1:
- Samuel: Heartbroken about Marina who he was in love with.
- Nadia: Still working hard, just stood up to her parents and is still interested in Guzmán.
- Christian: Likes Carla. Helps to cover up Marina’s murder.
- Marina: Dead.
- Guzmán: In love with Nadia, heartbroken about his sister’s death.
- Lucrecia: Doesn’t like Nadia, in love with Guzmán and willing to fight for him,
- Nano: Also heartbroken and in jail.
- Carla: Covering up Marina’s death.
- Polo: A murderer.
- Ander: Dating Omar.
- Omar: Got in trouble for dealing drugs, secretly dating Ander.
Season 2
We know who murdered Marina, but Nano has been arrested instead of Polo. This season focuses on one of the students, Samuel, going missing and trying to prove that Nano is innocent.
New Characters
- Cayetana: This girl is pretending to be rich (she is actually the cleaner’s daughter), Lu reveals her secret and Cayetana is now officially in everyone’s bad graces (thanks to her getting the murder weapon out of the lake and hiding it).
- Valerio: He is Lu’s playboy and carefree half brother, but plot twist these two have a sexual past.
- Rebeca: Instantly befriends Samuel, her mother is a notorious drug dealer and Samuel deals drugs for her mum. Rebeca has feelings for Samuel.
Relationships
The second season is driven by relationships, so here is where we left all of these lovebirds and what major scandals happened this season.
- Nadia and Guzmán: These two are actually kissing in this season and Guzmán breaks up with Lu. A video of the two having sex (recorded by Valerio to hurt Lu) is released and puts a dent in their relationship.
- Lu and Guzmán: These two still have an on and off thing going on.
- Lu and Valerio: These two have a long history and used to hook up, the one major problem being that they are siblings. Valerio later reveals their relationship to their parents.
- Carla and Samuel: Samuel is trying to get close to Carla, this is all part of his plan, but they both start falling for each other. Samuel plays Carla and she tells him that “he never had her” but they are both clearly heartbroken.
- Omar and Ander: These two are having serious issues this season. Ander has some sexy moments with Polo, he also hides that Polo is a murderer, Omar moves in with Ander, they share a very steamy kiss at the club and Omar is figuring out his gender identity but they do make up at the end. We at least have one happy(ish) OTP at the end of this season.
- Ander and Polo: These two have been friends for years. Polo realised he might like boys after Christian. Polo and Ander have a moment (with Guzmán next to them in bed by the way) and Polo tells Ander everything.
- Polo and Cayetanna: After Cayetanna gets kicked out of Las Encinas he helps to get her re-enrolled and she helps hide the trophy (the one piece of evidence). Couples that lie together, stay together?
Main Plot Points
- Christian is nearly killed by Carla’s dad, this was definitely not an accident (and not in this whole season).
- Samuel was not actually missing he was working with Guzmán to prove that Polo murdered Marina.
- Polo confides in Ander, this ends the friendship between Ander and Guzmán.
- Samuel get’s Carla to tell the police about Polo.
- Polo gets arrested for Marina’s murder but is let go as they have no evidence.
- Cayetanna hides the trophy for Polo, he gets to come back to school.
- Nano is released from jail and leaves town (we are going to miss him next season).
