The First ‘Captain Marvel’ Trailer Is Here!

Captain Marvel Brie Larson 2019

“War is a universal language,” Nick Fury tells Carol Danvers. “I know a renegade soldier when I see one. Never occurred to me that one might come from above.”

Marvel Studios has finally released the first trailer for another highly anticipated superhero movie, Captain Marvel. The new movie will be the 21st movie in the MCU and it will mark the first female-led solo Marvel flick.

Marvel first teased the part-human, part-alien character in Avengers: Infinity War, when Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury paged her in the end-credits scene.

The story follows Carol Danvers, an air force pilot who’s part Kree (a warrior alien race) and part human, with superhuman powers. She becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races, the Kree and the Skrulls. Set in the 1990s, “Captain Marvel” is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The trailer has many great moments with glimpses of Carol wearing her iconic helmet from the comics, the return of Lee Pace’s Ronan the Accuser from Guardians of the Galaxy, a de-aged Clark Gregg and Samuel L Jackson, Carol Danvers punching an old lady (perhaps a Skrull, otherwise a serious dislike for the elderly), and oh, Carol crash landing into a Blockbuster. You know it’s set in the past when there’s an ancient relic (sadly) like a Blockbuster!

Danvers is the first female superhero to receive her own film in the MCU, but another exciting tidbit is that co-director Anna Boden will be the first woman to helm an instalment of the MCU.

The film stars Brie Larson as Carol Danvers, Gemma Chan as Minn-Erva, Clark Gregg as Phil Coulson, Djimon Hounsou as Korath, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Jude Law as a Starforce Commander, Lashana Lynch as Maria “Photon” Rambeau, Ben Mendelsohn as Talos, and Lee Pace as Ronan the Accuser.

Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck (Mississippi Grind) will direct the Captain Marvel movie from a script by Geneva Robertson-Dworet.

Captain Marvel will be in cinemas on March 8th 2019.
