Ways To Get Over A Reading Slump

Many avid readers know that struggle to pick up and book and read can be the most antagonising and just downright cruel moment you’ll face in the world of literature. Although getting out of this so-called ‘reading slump’ can be a challenge, there are some full proof ways to get you back on track with your good reads reading challenge in no time!

Just Walk Away

I know this sounds counterproductive but trust me, it works! Forcing yourself to read will take the joy out of it and isn’t that why we do it? So just get up and find something else to do. Whether you do some spring cleaning, run some errands or even do some exercise, you’ll find yourself craving that book once again, and this time you’ll read because you want to, not because you feel you have to.

Watch Some Booktube Videos

Sometimes watching someone else gush about books just gets you so excited to read as soon as you can! Many booktubers have such a positive personality and get so excited about their favourite so it’s hard not to feel the same way. Some of the best videos to watch are readbyzoe’s read-a-thons as they really get you ready to read as much as possible after watching some insane reading.

Reorganise Your Bookshelf

There are so many different kinds of bookshelves. Some like to order into colour, some like to order by genre, but whatever you like, you may find a book or two that you completely forgot were even on your TBR, and you get a lovely, well organised bookshelf. Basically, a win-win situation!

Bookstagram / Book Blogs

The bookstagram world is normally where I find the next books for my TBR. The amount of effort that goes into the photos and editing really makes your to be read books even more appealing. On top of this, the people behind the posts are some of the loveliest people you’ll ever speak to and will always be down to find your next big read. Who knows? You might pick up a whole series because of their recommendation! On top of this, the book bloggers write some really in-depth reviews (some spoiler or spoiler free) that’ll make sure you pick the best book to get you out of your slump.

Join A Goodreads Book Club

Goodreads is one of the best places to find like-minded readers to join with. Most clubs have a new book each month that they try to read together so they can discuss it. Having people to buddy read with and talk to can help you come out of your slump as being able to rant about your least favourite characters, or cry over a great couple’s separation is best done with a friend.

Hopefully, some of these tips will help you fly through your TBR in no time!
