Jenny Han’s popular YA contemporary To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before is being adapted into a movie on Netflix!
To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before is the first book in Jenny Han’s trilogy, which follows a girl named Lara Jean who writes love letters to her past lovers and puts them in a shoe box. When her letters get mysteriously sent out, Lara Jean freaks out. This book has been at the top of YA movie adaptations that need to happen and we finally have it! The book was first published in 2014 and the final instalment was released in May of 2017. Author Jenny Han has written other books that are just as loved as the others, including The Summer I Turned Pretty trilogy and the Burn for Burn trilogy. So, here is what we know about this anticipated movie!
The film stars Lana Condor as Lara Jean (X-Men: Apocalypse), Noah Centineo as Peter (The Fosters), Israel Broussard as Josh (Happy Death Day), Emilija Baranac as Genevieve (Riverdale), Janel Parrish as Margot (Pretty Little Liars), John Corbett as Dr Dan (My Big Fat Greek Wedding), and Andrew Bachelor as Gabe (The Babysitter).
Back in March, Netflix acquired the global rights to the film from Awesomeness Films and Overbrook Entertainment. The movie marks the second partnership with Netflix and Awesomeness, which previously worked on You Get Me, while Overbrook and Netflix recently worked together on the studio’s largest movie to date, Bright.
Sofia Alvarez has written the screenplay, who has previously worked on Man Seeking Woman and the film is directed by Susan Johnson (Carrie Pilby).
The release date is set for August 17th and it will be released on Netflix. There hasn’t been a trailer as of yet, but several still photos have been released along with the cast posting selfies from behind-the-scenes.
If you want to read the book first, you can find it on Book Depository, Amazon, and other book retailers.
