This 45 minute episode of The Gifted mostly follows Lorna and it was satisfying to finally get to know more of her past. It is the key episode I was looking forward to and I was not disappointed.
This time we do not only get one tiny flashback scene, but a bunch of them. We see Lorna and Marcos 7 months ago talking about being parents and how they want to be better parents to their child as their own have been. While Marcos tells the story how he wishes that the baby will be a girl, Lorna tells him the tiny bit of her father she knows about.
Being a bipolar girl with green hair far away from a big city, 13-year-old Lorna felt alone. Raised by her aunt, she does not know a single thing about herself. One day, her father left her a birthday present, a red disk which looks like the iconic helmet Magneto is wearing. That is when Lorna realises who she really is. If I remember correctly, at the end of Season 1, Lorna was not really sure about it. Now, it is confirmed, but it would be really nice to hear her speak his name out loud.
Lorna confesses that “the world hates him, but I hate him more”, but it turns out in the end that he did not abandon her, but it is quite the opposite. Her aunt hid her for him.
It is hard for a child to understand adults, but at some point they do. Lorna is exactly at this place right now. After what Rebecca did, killing over 30 people at the bank, mutants are hunted and Lorna has to make sure that Dawn is safe. Esme suggests hiding Dawn in a mutant school in Switzerland, which is no option to Lorna, she needs someone who she can trust.
Before bringing her little girl to that person, she proves that she is not all evil and on the Inner Circle’s side. She pays Marcos a visit so that he can say goodbye to his daughter. You can see his heart being torn apart between being full of love and being completely empty. How can he say goodbye to a child that he does not really had the chance to get to know her?

Meanwhile, Kate and Lauren drive Reed to the doctor who once worked with his father on suppressing the X gene. She explains that not everyone’s power is a gift rather more a disability and that there is a possibility to receive a certain amount of drugs – like an insulin pump – which will make you control your powers. For the cure to work, she needs to test Lauren’s blood as well, because if they do not treat Reed, he will die.
I am not really on the same side with this statement, because I think if you train hard you will be able to control them just fine. Mutant powers are connected to your emotions and to your psyche. But what I would love to hear more about is what she knows about the Fenris twins, besides the fact that they share the same mind and dreams, of those we already know about.
The only couple left with no relationship issues have been Clarice and John. Well, that lies in the past. After watching the news, John wants to find out why the Inner Circle was in the bank.

For his own sake, Clarice joins him and they find Rebecca. John is hoping to receive information from her, that they are on the same side. He was not able to get a lot out of it just a name, to which John lies all his hope in. Clarice cannot deal with a Johnny who constantly wishes to redeem himself.

What can we expect to see in the episodes to come?
Lauren’s blood seems to hold the solution for all mutants to suppress their X gene forever. In connection to the fact that the doctor’s brother founded the Purifiers does make my stomach ache. Did not she talk about helping mutants to cope with their powers and not to get rid of them for good?
Clarice is able to see the twisted energy at places where Rebecca used her powers and she reacts terrible to it. Now that Rebecca got captured by Faint, maybe the fact that their powers work on a similar level can be of importance.
At the end, we go back to Lorna. She brought Dawn to her aunt and lets Marcos know that their daughter is safe and loved. But the most impressive moment was how Lorna formed her own version of Magneto’s helmet out of the red disk he gave her all those years ago.
Time to channel her father. 💚💚💚 #TheGifted returns with a new episode next week. pic.twitter.com/qo2uoRymkf
