This week’s episode starts off with Reed Strucker (the children’s father and mutant prosecutor) meeting up with a mutant that he knows is working with Eclipse (Marcos Diaz, leader of the underground). However, Reed is being tracked by Agent Turner who, as we learned in the last episode, wants to take him down. Reed agreed to smuggle this mutant to the underground, as per Turner’s orders, but at the last-minute backs out by jumping out of a moving van. He does this to protect the mutants of the underground and the mutant in the van.
Thunderbird (Johnny Proudstar) starts working with Clarice Fong (Blink) to help get her powers working and under control again. We soon learn that Clarice doesn’t have anybody she truly cares about and that makes it hard for her to control her abilities because she doesn’t have something or someone she can focus her emotions on.
Later, Caitlyn Strucker secretly decides to take her children, Andy and Lauren, and leave the underground to go to her brother’s house as she believes herself to be helping the rebels since everything seems to have gotten worse after their arrival. Unfortunately this decision just makes things worse, especially since her brother won’t help them. He does allow them to stay the night, but by morning, the word is out that the Strucker family is in the area. Luckily for them, Johnny and Marcos find them, but so does the neighbourhood who bear weapons.
They manage to escape with the help of Johnny, Marcos, and Andy, who uses his powers to knock the neighbours off their feet. It’s a joint effort as Eclipse uses his abilities to hold them back so they can make it to the car, but the neighbours continue to chase them as they leave.
Johnny calls Dreamer to explain the situation and asks her to find a way out for them. Dreamer then asks Clarice to use her abilities to make a portal for the car to drive through, but after Clarice’s episode last week, she is still unsure about using her powers. Dreamer isn’t happy about this because she doesn’t know where to go from here, so she then uses her powers on Blink to get her to help.
We find out one of Dreamer’s abilities is to give another a memory and she gives Clarice a memory of her taking care of Johnny (aka Thunderbird). This motivates Clarice to open a portal for the car to escape through and she’s able to do this because now she has a memory to focus her emotions, and it’s revealed that Johnny and Dreamer have some sort of relationship. Clarice then runs to Johnny and hugs him, to which he hugs her back. Dreamer then tells him how Clarice was able to use her abilities and he becomes angry and wants to keep it a secret. We can assume he wants it kept a secret, especially from Clarice, because it almost seems as if Johnny is starting to develop feelings for her and vice versa.
After everyone is safe, Caitlyn, Marcos, and Johnny are on the side of a road waiting for someone. Not too much later, a car pulls up and Caitlyn’s brother comes out. They both somewhat apologise to each other in a sweet brother-sister way. He says he wants to help, but just can’t and Caitlyn accepts it and goes back to the underground.
The final scene shows us a scientist named Roderick Campbell, who is interested in the Strucker children. He is reading an old article about two siblings and a travesty that has occurred. We also learn that Turner turned down the offer to work with the scientist about finding and discovering the Strucker children.
This week’s episode was very good and we learned many things about all of the characters, some more obvious than others such as Dreamer and Thunderbird. This episode definitely left us with a cliffhanger and now has us wondering what will happen next…
