The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance is Netflix’s epic prequel series to the beloved 1982 Jim Henson film, The Dark Crystal.
The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance returns to the world of Thra with an all new adventure. When three Gelfling discover the horrifying secret behind the Skeksis’ power, they set out on an epic journey to ignite the fires of rebellion and save their world.
The series features a massive voice cast with some incredibly notable and well-known actors such as Mark Hamill, Taron Egerton, Helena Bonham Carter, and Sigourney Weaver.
At San Diego Comic-Con in July, Jim Henson’s daughter Lisa, who is the CEO of The Jim Henson Company, and director Jim Leterrier confirmed they won’t be using CGI in the series with green screen used to remove the puppeteers during post-production. According to reports, it took a year to film the 10 episodes.
“Everything is hand-sculpted, hand-painted,” Henson says, “just an amazing amount of craftsmanship you see across the whole image.”

The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance hits Netflix on August 30th with 10 episodes.
