Freeform’s powerful female-led series The Bold Type returns for a second season and it promises to bigger, brighter and bolder than ever with it continuing to tackle important issues!
Last year, Freeform’s new series quickly became a favourite with it following a trio of millennials who are trying to conquer the Manhattan media world. The series earned fantastic reviews and created a large fanbase, which extended way beyond its “twenty-something” initial demographic.
The new season kicks off a couple of weeks after the events of the season finale where Jane, Sutton, and Kat are facing the consequences, both good and bad, after the decisions they made. For Jane, she left Scarlet magazine to take a job at Incite, a digital publication, so she could tackle more serious political issues. However, it seems she’ll soon find out that she might not be the best fit there, especially without Jacqueline mentoring her along the way. She’ll also be getting a new love interest by the name of Ben who’s a doctor and meets him when she goes to do a story on him. That being said, she’ll find herself quite torn between Ben and Pinstripe.
Back at Scarlet, magazine, fashion assistant Sutton has unfinished business with Richard, her ex and a higher-up at the company. The difficulties begin when she learns that Scarlet has lifted its ban on relationships as long as employees sign some paperwork with HR. But does she really want to reunite with Richard? Jacqueline unofficially mentored Jane in season one, it seems Sutton will begin to receive words of wisdom from the powerful Scarlet editor. The pair will begin to become close with Sutton receiving accolades that bolster her growth, while Jacqueline reveals more about her personal life.
As for Kat, she’s be reunited with her girlfriend Adena, but Kat’s inexperience in a same-sex relationship will be causing a little trouble for the pair. Her inexperience also extends to being in a serious relationship and monogamous for a change, but it doesn’t stop Kat from introducing Adena to her parents. As the social media director of Scarlet, she’ll be receiving more recognition for her bold strategies. Her newfound success will see questions about race and labels raised and how her status can help young girls seek more of a positive role model.
The series stars Katie Stevens, Aisha Dee, Meghann Fahy, Sam Page, Matt Ward, Nikohl Boosheri, Stephen Conrad Moore, and Melora Hardin.
The Bold Type returns June 12th on Freeform with a two-hour premiere! Plus the series has already been renewed for a third season!
