Six Feet Below Zero is a contemporary middle-grade novel about 12-year-old Rosie and her younger brother, Baker, as they navigate the aftermath their beloved great-grandmother’s death.
It would have been simple if they’d just called 911, but nothing about this story is simple, because Great-Grammy left instructions. Very specific instructions! They must hide her body and pretend as if everything is completely normal, at least until they find the missing will and locate their dear Aunt Tilly.
In Chapter 0°, time is running out. Rosie is writing a “last chance” email to Aunt Tilly, finally fessing-up to what’s happened, and she’s arguing with Baker about what details to include. They are desperate, as their grandmother, or “Grim Hesper” as they call her, is on the cusp of completely taking over their lives.
Really, the situation is a little absurd. But don’t take my word for it . . .
