The new mystery series is set in a small rust belt town in post-recession America, where a one-dollar bill changing hands connects a group of characters involved in a shocking multiple murder. The path of the dollar bill and point of view in each episode paint a picture of a modern American town with deep class and cultural divides that spill out into the open as the town’s secrets get revealed.
Musician Sturgill Simpson will be making his acting debut in One Dollar with the portrayal of a former steel mill worker. He is swept up in class and culture wars that ignite after a strange multiple murder.
Filmed on location in Pittsburgh,One Dollar is produced by CBS Television Studios. Matt DeRoss of Anonymous Content, Alexandre Dauman, Rafael Yglesias and Jason Mosberg will serve as executive producers, and Craig Zobel (The Leftovers) will direct all episodes and executive produce.
The series stars John Carroll Lynch (American Horror Story), Nathaniel Martello-White (Collateral), Philip Ettinger (Girls), Chris Denham (Billions), Kirrilee Berger (Just Add Magic), Gracie Lawrence (The Good Wife), Leslie Odom Jr. (Hamilton), Jeff Perry (Nash Bridges), and musician Sturgill Simpson.
One Dollar will premiere on the streaming service CBS All Access on August 30th. The season includes ten episodes.
