From Gilmore Girls creator, Amazon’s new original series will give you more than a few laughs with a fun female lead.
In 1958 New York, Midge Maisel’s life is on track—husband, kids, and elegant Yom Kippur dinners in their Upper West Side apartment. But when her life takes a surprise turn, she has to quickly decide what else she’s good at—and going from housewife to stand-up comic is a wild choice to everyone but her.
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is written and directed by Gilmore Girls creator Amy Sherman-Palladino, so her new series still very much focuses on family drama, laughs, and craziness plus the signature fast-talking.
The first episode in the series was released back in March, and it received an overwhelming amount of interest and reviews—which also means we will be receiving two seasons because of its popularity. This is actually the first time Amazon has greenlit multiple seasons of a new series so this allowed Sherman-Palladino to map out the series a little further rather than producing a series that seemed closed in case it wasn’t renewed.
The series stars Rachel Brosnahan (House of Cards), Alex Borstein (Family Guy), Marin Hinkle (Two and A Half Men), Tony Shalhoub (Monk), Michael Zegen (Boardwalk Empire), Bailey De Young (Faking It), and Matilda Szydagis.
