New To TV: ‘Star Trek: Picard’

Star Trek: Picard features Sir Patrick Stewart reprising his iconic role as Jean-Luc Picard, which he played for seven seasons on Star Trek: The Next Generation.

The new series will follow this iconic character into the next chapter of his life after leaving his life as a Starfleet Admiral, so the series picks up 18 years after the events of Star Trek: Nemesis.

The series stars Sir Patrick Stewart, Alison Pill (The Newsroom), Harry Treadaway (Penny Dreadful), Isa Briones (American Crime Story: Versace), Santiago Cabrera (Big Little Lies), Michelle Hurd (Blindspot), and Evan Evagora.

Picard will also see several familiar faces reprise their roles including Brett Spiner as Data, Jonathan Frakes as Will Riker, Marina Sirtis as Deanna Troi, and Jeri Ryan as Seven of Nine.

The series is produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Secret Hideout and Roddenberry Entertainment. Alex Kurtzman, Michael Chabon, Akiva Goldsman, James Duff, Patrick Stewart, Heather Kadin, Rod Roddenberry, and Trevor Roth serve as executive producers and Aaron Baiers (Secret Hideout) serves as co-executive producer and Kirsten Beyer as supervising producer. Hanelle Culpepper will direct the first two episodes of the series.

Star Trek: Picard premieres January 23rd on CBS All Access in the U.S. Each episode will be available on Amazon Prime Video within 24 hours of their U.S. release. Star Trek: Picard consists of 10 episodes.
