New To TV: Now Apocalypse

Now Apocalypse STARZ TV Series 2019

Ready for a bizarre new series that follows four millennial all of whom are on various quests pursuing love, sex, and fame? Well, you’ll find just that in the new STARZ series, Now Apocalypse.

Now Apocalypse explores identity, sexuality and artistry while navigating the strange and oftentimes bewildering city of Los Angeles. Between sexual and romantic dating app adventures, Ulysses grows increasingly troubled as foreboding premonitory dreams make him wonder if some kind of dark and monstrous conspiracy is going on, or if he is just smoking too much weed.

CHARACTERS

Ulysses (Avan Jogia)
Ulysses is a restless romantic. Bisexual (though mostly queer), ethereal, a bit of a stoner, Uly is a creative, poetic type at heart. He is struggling to find his place in a world where everything has already been done and where art matters less than celebrity. Feeling adrift and somewhat cynical in a culture of energetic but unfulfilling Grindr hookups, he thinks he may have met his one true soulmate in the sexy and enigmatic Gabriel.

Carly (Kelli Berglund)
Carly is a thoroughly modern, 21st-century woman. Wannabe actress/Carney’s waitress Carly is Ulysses’ pragmatic, quick-witted, social-media-savvy best friend, who is a little too cool for the room. Stuck in a dead-end relationship with her self-absorbed boyfriend, Jethro, Carly assuages her sexual boredom by logging onto LiveCamGrrrls.com for kicks. She also makes some extra cash slipping on various sexual personae for her horny clients before ultimately getting bored with that too.

Ford (Beau Mirschoff)
Ford is a guileless dreamer. Aspiring screenwriter Ford has been Ulysses’ roommate/best bud since college, and he convinced Uly to move with him to LA. Unself-consciously hot, Ford is boy-next-door sweet, to the point of being comically naive. He is also so sensitive that he is frequently moved to tears, especially when it comes to his relationship with the beautiful and elusive Severine, a firm believer in the benefits of non-monogamy.

Severine (Roxane Mesquida)
Severine is a dedicated scientist. French, gorgeous, brilliant, aloof and mysterious, Severine is an astrobiological theorist working for a NASA-like branch of the government. And it appears that whatever top-secret official business Severine is involved in is making her question not only her relationship with Ford but the future of the entire world.

Gregg Araki co-wrote and directed all 10 half-hour episodes of the sexy, vibrant and fast-moving series that has a flipside of mythic, dreamlike creepiness. Karley Sciortino — author, Vogue.com sex columnist, and creator and host of “Slutever” on Viceland — co-wrote the series with Araki and serves as a consulting producer.

Now Apocalypse is a half-hour comedy series created and executive produced by Gregg Araki (Kaboom, Mysterious Skin). Steven Soderbergh (“The Girlfriend Experience,” Logan Lucky) and Gregory Jacobs (Magic Mike XXL, “Red Oaks”) also serve as executive producers.

Starring Avan Jogia (Twisted), Kelli Berglund (Lab Rats), Beau Mirschoff (Awkward), Roxane Mesquida (Gossip Girl), and Tyler Posey (Teen Wolf).

Now Apocalypse premieres Sunday March 10th on STARZ. Australians will be able to watch the new series on Stan.
