Everybody wants Melissa McCarthy in their next project, but just how far will they go?
Nobodies focuses on three writer-producers who graduated from the Groundlings improv school and are now trying to pitch a movie. The “nobodies” attempt to become “somebodies” by using Melissa McCarthy’s name to move on up in the world of Hollywood. They use McCarthy as the trio know her through their school and they even wrote their movie, Mr. First Lady, with her in mind. When their pitch to Paramount Pictures begins to go sideways, they blurt out that McCarthy has agreed to play the President and that’s when the fun begins.
Things get meta as the three writer-producers in the show are the ones who actually made this show as everybody will be playing their real-life Hollywood selves. Melissa McCarthy and her husband Ben Falcone executive produced the show, which means with this talented group of people, we’re going to be in for quite a few laughs.
The series has already been picked up for a second season with the announcement made almost two months ago.
“Picking up ‘Nobodies’ for season two was a no-brainer when all these extremely talented people are behind it,” said Keith Cox, president of development and production for TV Land. “It’s a bold, quirky, hilarious look at what happens when you will do or say anything to succeed in Hollywood.”
Starring Hugh Davidson, Larry Dorf, Rachel Ramras and of course a few appearances from Melissa McCarthy herself, plus a whole bunch of hilarious comedians as guest stars.
Nobodies premieres on TV Land today, but in the meantime you can check out the trailer below!
