Get ready to head to medieval times! Well, sort of. Lifetime’s new series American Princess follows a runaway bride named Amanda Klein who joins a Renaissance Faire after her wedding goes awry, only to discover there’s a lot more to life than she once thought.
American Princess centers on Amanda, an Upper East Side socialite whose storybook wedding plans are dramatically derailed when she discovers her fiancé is cheating on her, just hours before they are to be wed. Outraged, Amanda reacts violently to the indiscretions and runs away from her own dream wedding in the countryside, only to find herself stranded in the middle of a Renaissance Faire with no phone and no way home. She soon discovers her outburst has made tabloid headlines and experiences a nervous breakdown, leading her to reevaluate her life. The unexpected awakening leads Amanda to leave everything she thought she cared about behind, to become the Faire’s newest wench-in-waiting.
Starring Georgia Flood (Anzac Girls), Lucas Neff (Raising Hope) stars as David, Amanda’s love interest and Ren Faire actor who goes by the name Pizzle Humpsalot, performing Shakespearean parodies in the mud; Seana Kofoed (Men in Trees) plays Maggie, the venerable Queen Elizabeth at the Faire; Mary Hollis Inboden (The Real O’Neals) plays Delilah, a free-spirited washer wench who becomes Amanda’s new best friend; and Rory O’Malley (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend) as Brian, Maggie’s confidant and the Faire’s beloved Shakespeare.
The series comes from A+E Studios, creator Jamie Denbo and executive producers Jenji Kohan, Tara Herrmann and Mark A. Burley
American Princess premieres June 2nd at 10pm ET/PT on Lifetime with a total of 10-episodes in the first season.
