Ready for a new sci-fi movie to watch this weekend? Well turn on Netflix to watch Extinction and prepare yourself for an alien invasion.
The new film follows a father who has a recurring dream of losing his family. His nightmare turns into reality when the planet is invaded by a force bent on destruction. Now, fighting for their lives, he comes to realise an unknown strength to keep them safe from harm.
Extinction was originally slated to be released by Universal earlier this year, but was pulled from Universal’s schedule two months before its intended release in January 2018. While Netflix has released quite a few sci-fi movies over the past year, such as Annihilation and Cloverfield Paradox, this one might be worth checking out as it is directed by Ben Young, the Australian filmmaker behind Hounds of Love. The film was co-written by Spenser Cohen and Eric Heisserer, who was the Oscar-nominated screenwriter behind Arrival.
Extinction stars Michael Pena (Ant-Man and The Wasp), Lizzy Caplan (Masters of Sex), Mike Colter (Luke Cage), and Israel Broussard (The Bling Ring). The film is directed by Ben Young and written by Spenser Cohen and Eric Heisserer with Todd Lieberman, Alex Young, and David Hoberman as executive producers.
The film will be hits Netflix internationally on July 27th.
