Are you ready for the latest Marvel series? Hulu’s Runaways is based on the 2003 comics and follows a group of six very diverse teenagers who discover their parents are super-villains in disguise.
Every teenager thinks their parents are evil. But what if they really were? This group of teenagers stumble onto a terrible secret, they realise their parents have been lying to them all their lives. But what are their parents after? And why? While the kids investigate, the adults start to wonder if their kids are hiding secrets of their own. The parents close in on the truth just as the kids uncover a plan with devastating consequences. Now, this unlikely crew of teenagers must band together to stop their parents before it’s too late.
Our group of teenagers features a great cast with all the characters having a different personality and power. Gregg Sulkin (Faking It) plays lacrosse star Chase Stein, who isn’t your typical jock as he exhibits flashes of untapped brilliance in engineering. Virginia Gardner (Goat) plays Karolina Dean, whose “veneer of privilege and perfection” is challenged by her “newfound eagerness to explore her identity and pursue her own desires.”
Angsty Nico Minoru is played byLyrica Okano (The Affair), whose character is a budding Wiccan with a goth aesthetic. Ariela Barer (New Girl) is Gert Yorkes, a “purple-haired, bespectacled, contemporary riot grrrl”. Allegra Acosta (Just Add Magic) plays Molly Hernandez, “the youngest and most innocent member of her friend group”. Lastly, Rhenzy Feliz (Teen Wolf) plays the nerdy Alex Wilder, a bit of a loner who longs to reunite his childhood group of friends.
Playing their parents are Ryan Sands (The Wire), Angel Parker, Brittany Ishibashi, James Yaegashi, Kevin Weisman (Alias), Brigid Brannagh (Army Wives), Annie Wersching (24), Kip Pardue (Ray Donovan), Ever Carradine (Major Crimes), and James Marsters (Buffy).
The series is produced by Jeph Loeb along with showrunners Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage (Gossip Girl, The O.C.).
The first three episodes premiere today on Hulu with a remaining 7 episodes airing weekly.
