Las Musas is a collective of women & non-binary (identifying on the female spectrum) Latinx Picture Book, Middle Grade and Young Adult debut authors. Our mission is to spotlight the new contributions of Las Musas in the evolving canon of children’s literature and celebrate the diversity of voice, experience, and power in our communities.
Do you like to write or are interested in the publication process? Fab! Because Las Musas is offering a lot of webinars in the time of self-distancing. Las Musas is an organisation in which Latinx authors support other Latinx authors in their quest to get published themselves.
The organisation was created due to the fact that only 5% of American children’s literature includes Latinx characters and out of that only 33% have been written or illustrated by actual Latinx authors. So, in order to raise awareness and to promote representation within the publishing industry, Las Musas was founded. Ever since then, female identifying writers have been lifting each other up and now they are here to do the same for you.
In their new webinar series, authors such as Ismée Williams (This Train Is Being Held) and Mayra Cuevas (Salty, Bitter, Sweet) are offering an insight into their lives as authors, their inspiration, and the development of a book. All of that is delivered free of charge directly into your living room!
