Guest post written by Housebroke author Jaci Burton
Jaci Burton is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling, award-winning author of over 85 books. She lives in Oklahoma and when she isn’t on deadline (which is often), she can usually be found wrestling with her uncooperative garden, wrangling her dogs, watching an unhealthy amount of television, or completely losing track of time reading a great book. She’s a total romantic and longs for the happily ever after in every story, which you’ll find in all her books.. Visit her website at www.jaciburton.com.

Releasing on December 12th, Housebroke follows a millionaire and a woman who thinks he’s a house flipper find themselves stuck living together with a menagerie of rescue dogs.

I have to admit, if you put an animal on the cover of a romance, I’m going to stop in my tracks and check it out. If a romance features dogs, or cats, or bunnies, cows, hedgehogs, hamsters, fish, frogs or any other kind of creature—furry or not—I’m all in.

I’ve always been a dog lover. Cats, too. I’ve had many animals in my life over the years, and I can’t imagine the characters I write not including them in their lives as well. There’s just something about animals that enriches a love story.

But I’m not just a writer, I’m a reader, too. And some of my favorite reads have contained pets whether it’s a wily cat or a misbehaving dog or some other animal that adds so much life to a story, and gives added depth to a character, these animals always make me smile. It’s why so many of my books, including my newest release, HOUSEBROKE, is chock full of canine antics. Multiple canines, actually. And it’s why some of my reading favorites contain dogs.

Here are six (or maybe seven) romances to read if you’re a pet lover:

The Animal Magnetism series by Jill Shalvis

One of my favorites, and Jill has written many of my favorites. But if you haven’t read this series, it’s chock full of adorable dogs and very attractive men. Start with this series, then read all of her books.

A Walk In The Park (Audible original) by Rebekah Weatherspoon

Sexy and romantic, with the cutest dog ever and a unique dog-sharing situation that I thoroughly enjoyed. I highly recommend you give this one a listen.

Her Hometown Man by Shannon Stacey

If you like emotional, family-centric romances, then this author has it. Plus the bestest dog. First in a series. Read them all!

You Lucky Dog by Julia London

A delightful romance and two people who really need each other. Plus double basset hounds! A winner.

About A Dog by Jenn McKinlay

Taking a chance on love is always worth the read. Throw in well meaning meddling family and the most adorable puppy named Tulip, and this one will pull at your heartstrings.

The Twelve Dogs of Christmas by Susan Wiggs

A holiday road adventure –with dogs! What’s not to love? Definitely check this one out!

Housebroke by Jaci Burton

You didn’t think I was going to leave my book out, did you? Five adorable dogs. A down on her luck woman who cons her way into staying at a homeowner’s house for free while she gets her life together. It’s complicated, and mayhem ensues, but there’s confusion and laughter and sexytimes and lots of canine antics which means a bundle of love to go around. If I were you—which I’m not, but if I were, I’d make sure to read this one. 😉
