Ever since I took an ethics course in college, I’ve been fascinated by moral dilemmas, both in real life and in the pages of fiction. When a character is faced with a tough choice, I love weighing the evidence and deciding for myself which way the scale tips. Perhaps that’s why I chose to center my book, Better to Trust, on a question of medical ethics. What would happen if a world-renowned neurosurgeon battling a prescription pill addiction makes the decision to operate on his sister-in-law’s brain? Each of these page-turning reads also pose fascinating ethical questions for the reader to deliberate.
