With Wonder Woman having been released to positive word of mouth, great critic reviews, and an amazing box office performance, things are finally going the way fans wish for them to. Despite some upheaval regarding Justice League with the replacement of Zack Snyder as director and Junkie XL as the composer. Things seem to be changing on the set of Justice League before its eventual release this November. It is still likely the folks behind the film just want it to be the best one possible, and in fact, Warner Brothers President Toby Emmerich said he believes this as much to be the case.
DC Entertainment also has a pretty ambitious slate of films ahead of them including Batgirl, Nightwing, The Batman, Gotham City Sirens, Aquaman, The Flash, and more. Aquaman is set to be released in 2018 and everything seems pretty hopeful at this point. It may be the time, especially if Justice League does really well, to start considering a few more properties that DC fans have been clamouring for. Should DC Entertainment decide to follow the pulse of their fans on every film decision they make, they might see an even greater response to their films.
1.) Batman Beyond
This one is a given for many Batman fans. They have wanted to see the adventures of really the only person who ever takes over the mantle of the Bat from Bruce Wayne: Terry McGinnis. In fact, in time you will discover McGinnis is actually Wayne’s biological son, you can also see future versions of Bane and Mr. Freeze. The story of Bane alone will make you avoid ever showing signs of steroid abuse like Bane has with his venom. It’s an overall set of future stories made for film with its combination of the Bat universe and Blade Runner-like future.
2.) Booster Gold
This film is already in development, but has not been reaching any traction thus far. From Greg Berlanti, the mind behind the successful Arrow and The Flash television series, the film will focus on Michael Jon Carter, a man who feels humiliation during his own time and goes back in time using futuristic technology to become a great superhero. He hopes to regain what he feels he’s lost, and along the way, he partners with a man named Rip Hunter to protect the timestream. Unbeknownst to the Booster Gold in the past, Hunter is actually his son. Such a story offers many different tales to tell on film.
3.) Sergeant Rock and Easy Company
Franklin John Rock and his time with the Easy Company during World War II could be a different taste of film for DC Entertainment. They have already done World War I with Wonder Woman so why not tell the tale of simple men fighting in the European Theatre during World War II and their struggles? Rock is a perfect character by which to see the war and perhaps tell a Saving Private Ryan or Flags of Our Fathers-type story. In fact, it was claimed one of the character’s creators, writer Robert Kanigher, gave Rock the same military serial number he had. It would be a great way for DC Entertainment to try a different type of story in their DC Extended Universe.
4.) Teen Titans
Yes, it’s apparently becoming a live action television series, but that does not mean that DC’s greatest young heroes’ group cannot come together on the big screen, right? They are going to have both a TV series and movie for The Flash, so why not? Composed of usually Robin, Starfire, Raven, Beast Boy, Cyborg, and others, the team is quite a popular one. In fact, they also have a continuation of the original Teen Titans animated television series called Teen Titans Go right now on Cartoon Network. So, there’s no reason why we cannot see more adventures with these characters as there can be so many stories told and the list of potential tales are endless.
With these DC Entertainment properties being mentioned, there are a ton more that could be explored, such as the rest of the Batman or Superman family of characters. Each character has their own universe and stories that deserve to be told, and hopefully, DC Entertainment listens hard and well to the desires of the fans. If they do, not only will all of their films become successes, but the fans will be happy too. Here’s hoping Justice League is amazing and gets us pumped for more of what the DC Extended Universe has to offer.
