Universal has released the first trailer for its film adaptation of the hit Broadway play, Cats, which stars Jennifer Hudson, James Corden, and Taylor Swift amongst a very talented cast.
Oscar®-winning director Tom Hooper (The King’s Speech, Les Misérables, The Danish Girl) transforms Andrew Lloyd Webber’s record-shattering stage musical into a breakthrough cinematic event.
Fans of the musical will note a difference with the change in costuming as director Tony Hooper has opted to use motion-capture technology, which means the cast will appear as singing felines, along with a bigger set for the cast to explore and a few tweaks to get the interest of other viewers such as Rebel Wilson adding some comedy.
The film stars Jennifer Hudson (Grizabella), James Corden (Bustopher Jones), Taylor Swift (Bombalurina), Judi Dench (Old Deuteronomy), Rebel Wilson (Jennyanydots) , Steven McRae (Skimbleshanks), Ian McKellen (Gus), Jason Derulo (Rum Tum Tugger), and Idris Elba (Macavity), and introduces Royal Ballet principal dancer Francesca Hayward in her feature film debut as Victoria.
Cats comes out around Christmas time this year!
