The majority of the world is currently doing the bit and staying at home. In case you are staring at the wall trying to figure out what to do next with any free time you may have, this post is for you as we’ve rounded up some bookish and nerdy things to do at home!
1. Bullet Journal
You can get your creative juices flowing and start a bullet journal. You can either make it diary-like and fill the pages with your thoughts or you could write book/TV reviews or you could just plan out your day and add some illustrations.
2. Read
Of course you can use this time to finally cut down your TBR. Curl up in your favourite cosy spot and disappear into a different world.
3. Write
Work on your own novel, write some fanfiction, or pen some poetry. Whatever works for you, grab some paper and a pen or your laptop and just start writing! Who knows you might write the next Harry Potter. You’ll never know if you don’t try.
4. Bake or Cook Something From A Book
You could bake some cookies like Lara Jean in To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, make your own Oreos to support Simon Spier’s (from Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda) love of them, make some Pumpkin Pasties from Harry Potter, bake a pie while listening to the Waitress soundtrack, or make a dish inspired by your favourite nerdy creation!
5. Start A YouTube Channel or Binge Watch Other People’s Videos
You can film yourself reviewing your favourite nerdy obsession, do some fun challenges, or stay far away from the camera and binge watch some videos from your favourite creators or discover some new ones!
6. Create An Outfit Based On Your Favourite Character!
Who doesn’t want to try and look like a fictional character? You could try and recreate Harley Quinn’s iconic look, Rachel Green’s trendy looks, or Sandy from Grease‘s polar opposite outfits! Or perhaps channel your inner Mean Girl and put together a totally fetch pink look, become a superhero, or finally go to Hogwarts and dress like a student!
7. Write A List of All Your Favourite Things
We have all been asked what our favourite book, movie etc. is and completely forgotten everything, but now you can create lists upon lists. Then you will always have an answer ready for that question. It’s also so much fun trying to decide what you love the most and why!
8. Draw Some Fanart
We all have certain books and TV shows that are lacking some serious fanart love! Why not try and draw your fictional crush or ultimate ship yourself? You don’t have to be the next DaVinci to create something cool.
9. Write A Song Based On A Book, TV show, or Movie
Having a song that you can listen to everyday and then think about that magical book you just read sounds pretty epic, right? So why not write your own. If you need some inspiration. go listen to some of Beth Crowley’s amazing songs or just blast Lost Boy by Ruth B.
10. Learn A Dance From A Movie
Channel your inner Troy Bolton and learn the iconic choreography! Some other great dances to learn are numbers from The Greatest Showman, The HoeDown from Hannah Montana, Dirty Dancing (you will need a dance partner for this one), Ross and Monica’s hilarious dance routine from Friends, and the list goes on.
11. Reorganise Your Bookshelf
There are so many ways to organise your beautiful shelves. You could do a rainbow, organise by size, author, genre, read and unread, hardback or paperback, or just find your own unique style.
12. Take Some Bookish Photos and Join Bookstagram
Find a unique way to show off your precious babies and come scream about your favourite fandoms with like minded people. All you need is a camera/phone and some books, then you’re ready to go.
