A first look at the seventh season of The CW’s Arrow debuted at San Diego Comic-Con 2018, and it teases prison brawls with Oliver and a mysterious new archer!
There has been no shortage of close calls for Oliver Queen when it comes to protecting his Super Hero identity, but in the season six finale, he was finally backed into a corner and forced to reveal himself to the world as the Green Arrow. Now, Oliver will come face-to-face with many of the criminals he placed behind bars, as he makes a new home for himself at Slabside Maximum Security Prison. Oliver will find himself vulnerable in a way unlike ever before when a mysterious new enemy begins to unravel his work as Green Arrow, challenging him to redeem his name or risk losing everything.
In the season seven trailer, Oliver fights back when attacked by a prison inmate in what looks like an epic fight scene with the walls of a prison shower room. We also see Laurel in some sort of city government position where she makes it clear that vigilantism is not allowed after Oliver was outed. Meanwhile, Dinah and the SCPD work on figuring out who the new masked archer is, and Ricardo Diaz plans on making Oliver pay by targeting his loved ones, including Felicity and William.
As for this season’s villains, prepare yourself for the Longbow Hunters, whom Ricardo Diaz (Kirk Acevedo) mentioned in the season six finale. In an interview with TV Line, executive producer Marc Guggenheim said, “I will say that the reference to the Longbow Hunters is us planting a flag, much the same way we referenced Damien Darhk in the Season 3 finale. We would be [not nice people] to name-drop the Longbow Hunters and not see them in Season 7.”
The Longbow Hunters are comprised of three assassins: Red Dart, “a ruthless and precise killer” played by Holly Elissa (Whistler); Kodiak, “a beast of a man with brute force” played by Michael Jonsson (Van Helsing); and Silencer, “a master of stealth” played by Miranda Edwards (The Magicians).
In other cast news, Roy Harper/Arsenal (Colton Haynes) has been confirmed to return as a series regular and Bronze Tiger (Michael Jai White), Derek Sampson (Cody Runnels), and Danny “Brick” Brickwell (Vinnie Jones) are returning too. There will be also two badass female characters joining the season including Angeline who is described as “a fierce fighter despite of her smaller stature. Not only is she experienced in stealth, ‘Angeline’ is able to wipe out buildings filled with foes all by herself before she is gone like a ghost. It will be made very clear that ‘Angeline’ thinks incredibly highly of her work.
The new season will premiere Monday October 15th on The CW.
