This fiery redhead is about to make your weekend!
While Anne has been produced by CBC in Canada, the new series will now be available to watch worldwide on Netflix. Now titled as Anne With An “E”, the series is based on the classic Anne of Green Gables novels by L. M. Montgomery and is a coming-of-age story about an outsider who, against all odds and challenges, fights for love and acceptance to find her place in the world.
Set in the late 1890s on Price Edward Island, Anne Shirley is a young orphaned girl who has had an abusive childhood spent in orphanages and the homes of strangers. She is mistakenly sent to live with an ageing sister and brother but the 13-year-old soon transforms the lives of Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert, and eventually the entire small town with her unique spirit and brilliant imagination. Her adventures reflect the timeless issues we continue to face including themes of identity, feminism, bullying and prejudice.
Starring Amybeth McNulty, Geraldine James (Sherlock Holmes), R. H. Thomson (Chloe), Lucas Jade Zumann (20th Century Women) and Dalila Bela (Odd Squad).
All 8 episodes of Anne With An “E” are available to watch internationally on Netflix today!

I just came upon Anne With an E today. It took me a while not to compare it to Anne of Green Gables but it has won me over. I’ve cried several time & even laughed some. I even had to call my niece who loves the old movies. I will definantly be watching it!
