10 Murder Mystery Movies To Marathon

If you’re in the mood for a movie night, then we’ve rounded up a few murder mystery movies that would make for a great marathon! So grab your popcorn and snacks, kick up your feet, and enjoy a movie (or three) from the comfort of your lounge!

1. Knives Out (2019)

Harlan Thrombey, a rich and very famous mystery author, is found dead in his study and each and every member of his twisted selfish family is a suspect. Detective Benoit Blanc is hired by someone to investigate the crime. As the story proceeds, it all takes a different turn. Did Harlan kill himself? Or did someone want him dead? This movie is a terrific example of a classic whodunit with a modern twist.

2. The Girl with a Dragon Tattoo (2011)

A reporter with nothing to lose teams up with a weird but genius hacker to investigate a 40-year-old murder case. The gut-wrenchingly twisted Vanger family raises suspicion and oozes mystery during every second of the movie. What is the actual mystery in this movie? You won’t know until you watch it.

3. Murder on the Orient Express (2017)

A billionaire is killed on a trip on the very elegant Orient Express where Agatha Christie’s incredible character, Hercule Poirot, happens to be on board. Everyone else on the train is a suspect. But what’s the real motive? Is the victim worthy of any condolences? Is it a tale of redemption or revenge?

4. Murder Mystery (2019)

A failed New York detective and his wife go on a European Vacation to reignite the spark in their marriage. On the plane, they come across a chance to spend their time on a yacht, which leads to them being framed for the murder of an elderly billionaire. This movie is hilarious and the chemistry between Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston is to die for. If you haven’t watched it already, you’re missing out on some major fun.

5. Sherlock Holmes (2009)

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes always leads to some of the best whodunits out there. This movie is the much needed excitement we all need in our lives. It sees ritualistic killings occurring in London and although the culprit seems obvious, it gets weird. The movie is so worth the time, I mean who wouldn’t want to watch Robert Downey Jr. as Sherlock?

6. The Girl on the Train (2016)

Rachel Watson catches daily glimpses of a seemingly perfect couple, Scott and Megan, from her window of her train. Suddenly, Megan goes missing and Rachel seems to not remember something crucial. Unable to trust her own memory because of the claims of her ex-husband, the troubled Rachel begins her own investigation. Who is to blame? Emily Blunt does a great job portraying Rachel, but can we really believe what she has to say?

7. Gone Girl (2014)

A husband is the prime suspect of his wife’s disappearance and apparent murder, but things are definitely not what they appear to be. There are multiple jaw dropping twists throughout the story, the start will have you hooked and the ending will shock you.

8. Seven (1995)

A serial killer starts a seven deadly sins-themed murder spree and two detectives have to try and solve the case before he strikes again. Although Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman are great reasons to watch this movie, the plot doesn’t disappoint at all.

9. A Simple Favor (2018)

Two complete opposite mothers become friends, then one goes missing. The other mother begins the search to find her, all the while updating her vlog’s viewers about her findings and when the identity and the intentions of Blake Lively’s character are revealed, all of us are left in shock. This movie is terrifying and funny at the same time.

10. Zodiac (2007)

Robert Graysmith, a cartoonist by profession, finds himself obsessively thinking about the Zodiac killer. He uses his puzzle-solving abilities to get closer to the identity of the killer.

Enola Holmes is an upcoming British mystery film based on the book series of the same name by Nancy Springer. The movie features Millie Bobby Brown as Enola, Henry Cavill as Sherlock, and Sam Claffin as Mycroft.

As Hercule Poirot enjoys a luxurious cruise down the Nile, a newlywed heiress is found murdered and as the culprit seems obvious, the twist is will leave your mind blown.
