The next chapter of The X-Files is here in the form of its eleventh season, which will answer some questions but also create many new ones.

In 2016, the first special event series of The X-Files drew an average multi-platform audience of nearly 16 million viewers and was the season’s No. 2 broadcast drama, as well as the most talked-about event series on Twitter.

Now this year, fans will be treated to a 10-episode second instalment with both David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson reprising their roles once more as the infamous Mulder and Scully.

The series originally premiered in September 1993. Over the course of its nine-season run, the influential series went from breakout sci-fi favourite to massive global hit, and became one of the most successful television dramas of all time. The show, which earned 16 Emmy Awards, five Golden Globes and a Peabody Award, follows FBI special agents Scully and Mulder, as they investigate unexplained cases – “X-Files” – for which the only answers involve paranormal phenomena.

The series comes from Chris Carter, the creator and executive producer of the series with Glen Morgan also serves as an executive producer. Starring David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson, and Mitch Pileggi.

The 10-episode special event series begins January 3rd at 8/7c.
