It’s official! Filming on the Wonder Woman sequel is underway with director Patty Jenkins and Gal Gadot releasing the first photos from the new movie on Twitter today. If you don’t like being spoiled or feeling utterly confused, we urge you to look away as one image is definitely something that will leave your mind spinning.
The image released by Patty Jenkins shows Diana Prince’s ill-fated love interest Steve Trevor (Chris Pine). Somehow he’s back in the new film—but is it really him? In the tweet she does say Steve Trevor, but who knows, it could be our big bad in disguise!
Jenkins’ tweet also seems to suggest that the sequel’s title is Wonder Woman 1984 and a previous teaser suggested that the film is set in the same year. At the same time, Gal Gadot, who plays Diana, tweeted an image of her character gazing into a wall of television screens, which feature some serious 80’s vibes. Judging by the outfits the extras are donning, and then the television screens our fierce warrior princess is gazing into, it looks like we’ll be heading to the 80’s!
Jenkins previously revealed that the sequel will be set in the United States with Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids) set to play Wonder Woman’s nemesis Cheetah in the sequel. Game of Thrones Pedro Pascal has also been cast in a “pivotal role.”
The sequel is scheduled for release on November 1st 2019, but until then, Aquaman starring Jason Momoa will be fulfilling your DC fix when it hits theatres in December!
