There’s trouble heading to Fort Reed by the looks of the Season 2 trailer for Freeform’s Beyond. The first look at the new season debuted at New York Comic Con presented by the cast and executive producers.
The new trailer teases at danger coming to the town after Holden Matthews let something cross over into their world after the events of the Season 1 finale. Executive producers Adam Nussdorf, David Eick, and Tim Kring revealed that this season will focus on Holden’s struggle over whether or not he wants to embrace his powers and the consequences of his actions from the previous season.
“Season 1 was about Holden going to the realm. Season 2 is about the realm coming to Holden,” teased Eick.
In this season, Holden strives for normality by getting a job with his father and developing his relationship with Willa. Now that all the characters have been established with Holden’s ‘origin’ story seen, it’s all about what happens next.
“All your action figures are on the table and now it’s just smashing them into one another,” Nussdorf teased.
Eden Brolin who plays Charlie has been upped to series regular teased that their characters’ love triangle is about to get even more complicated.
Fans of the series will be treated to a half-hour sneak peek, featuring behind-the-scenes secrets, of the upcoming season on December 28th at 10:30 p.m. ET. As for if the whole season will be available to binge online after the premiere like the first season, Freeform is still determining whether or not they will.
Season 2 of Beyond kicks off with a two-hour premiere January 18th on Freeform.
