The Good Fight will continue to step out of the shadow of its predecessor series, The Good Wife, with it returning for a second season on the CBS streaming service.
In season two of The Good Fight, the world is going insane, and the Chicago murder rate is on the rise. Amidst the insanity, Diane, Lucca, Maia and the rest of the law firm find themselves under psychological assault when a client at another firm kills his lawyer for overcharging.
After a copycat murder, the firm begins to look at its own clients suspiciously. Meanwhile, Diane battles with a new partner at the firm, Liz Reddick-Lawrence (Audra McDonald); Maia becomes tougher after her parents’ scandal puts her on trial; and Lucca is brought back into Colin’s orbit.
Judging by the synopsis and trailer, the second season will be taking on a darker tone, however, all the featured quips shows the series will still give us a few chuckles each episode. Another few intriguing snippets from the trailer sees Howard Lyman somehow finding himself to be a judge, as well as Lucca and Colin’s chemistry sparking up the court room as they stand on opposite sides.
With Maia’s trail going ahead, this will allow for some actual storyline for Maia and her girlfriend Amy to be present after Amy testifies and basically throws Maia under the bus with her statement. Another relationship in strife is Diane and Kurt’s marriage still remaining unresolved, especially with Diane climbing into bed with newcomer Tim Matheson who is set for a recurring role.
The new season will also give time for Barbara Kolstad’s (Erica Tazel) character to depart with their new firm partner Liz Reddick-Lawrence taking over, who was seen once in The Good Wife. She also happens to be the ex-wife of Adrian so that will certainly cause friction at Reddick, Boseman & Kolstad.
The Good Fight is created by The Good Wife‘s Robert and Michelle King, along with Phil Alden Robinson. The series stars Christine Baranski, Cush Jumbo, Delroy Lindo, Rose Leslie, Erica Tazel and Sarah Steele with newcomers Audra McDonald (The Good Wife) and Tim Matheson (Hart of Dixie).
