The new series follows the lives and loves of four iconic Archie Comics characters — fashion legend-to-be Katy Keene (Lucy Hale), singer/songwriter Josie McCoy (Ashleigh Murray), performer Jorge Lopez/Ginger (Jonny Beauchamp), and “It Girl” Pepper Smith (Julia Chan) — as they chase their twenty-something dreams in New York City…together.

Katy designs clothes for anyone she can, including her friend and roommate Josie, whose singing talent catches the attention of Alexander Cabot (Lucien Laviscount), a CEO who hopes to reboot the record label division of his father’s corporate empire. But Alexander’s dream of signing Josie to a recording contract meets resistance from Cabot Media’s powerful senior vice president Alexandra (Camille Hyde), who also happens to be his twin sister. Josie and Katy’s roommate Jorge works at his family’s bodega and has his eye on Broadway, but after a series of rejections, he hopes to take his drag performance career as Ginger to the next level. The mysterious Pepper Smith plans to open her own version of Andy Warhol’s Factory. She has the connections, but no one seems to know where she got her money — or if she really has any at all.

Katy struggles to manage the pressures of her day job at Lacy’s Department Store and her very demanding boss, Gloria (Katherine LaNasa), who is a legendary personal shopper. But Katy has the support of her longtime boyfriend, KO Kelly (Zane Holtz), who has his own dream of becoming a professional boxer. As these aspiring artists take on the runway, the recording studio, Broadway, and the NYC social scene, they will find more than just a career in the big city — they’ll find long-lasting friendship.

Nancy Drew (Kennedy McMann) is a brilliant teenage detective whose sense of self had come from solving mysteries in her hometown of Horseshoe Bay, Maine – until her mother’s untimely death derails Nancy’s college plans.

Devastated by her mother’s passing, Nancy swears off crime-solving while crossing off the days until she can re-apply to college. But when a socialite is murdered, Nancy finds herself a prime suspect in the crime, along with a group of other teens present at the scene: Nancy’s nemesis from high school, George Fan (Leah Lewis); a rich girl with a mysterious past, Bess Marvin (Maddison Jaizani); Nancy’s secret boyfriend, Ned “Nick” Nickerson (Tunji Kasim); and amiable burnout Ace (Alex Saxon).

The five of them must team up to clear their own names – encountering emotional entanglements and even more mysteries along the way. Nancy’s reawakening brings her into conflict with her widowed father, Carson Drew (Scott Wolf), who is dating Detective Karen Hart (Alvina August).

And, when a supernatural presence begins to haunt Nancy’s investigation, she discovers that the current crime has an astonishing connection to the long unsolved murder of a local girl. Whether the ghost is here to help, or hinder Nancy remains to be seen, but one thing’s for sure: Nancy’s going to have to unravel the clues from both the living and the dead to solve the crimes.

At San Diego Comic-Con earlier this year, lead actress Kennedy McMann said she’s been a fan of the detective since childhood. She told EW, “I think there’s a sense of her character that comes from the games and comes from the books that you only know intimately if you’ve really gotten to know them. There’s this cunning but this sense of humour mixed into it, and this sense of [how] she never doubts herself, that I really wanted to make sure stayed true [in] this representation of her.”

Meanwhile, executive producer Stephanie Savage explained some more about the series saying, “We started from the idea of everything that we loved about Nancy Drew, that she was brave and smart and fearless and stood up for herself, but there was also something else to Nancy Drew. She also had a darkness in her, so when we first sat down, [we asked ourselves], ‘Why is Nancy following these people into these dark alleys? And getting hit over the head with a candlestick and tied to a chair?’”

Starring Kennedy McMann, Maddison Jaizani (Versailles), Tunji Kasim (Florence Foster Jenkins), Alex Saxon (The Fosters), Scott Wolf (Party of Five), Alvina August (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), and Leah Lewis (Charmed). The series comes from writers/executive producers Noga Landau, Melinda Hsu Taylor, Josh Schwartz, and Stephanie Savage, along with co-executive producer Lis Rowinski. Larry Teng (The Walking Dead, Supergirl) direct and executive produces the pilot.

Kate Kane (Ruby Rose) never planned to be Gotham’s new vigilante. Three years after Batman mysteriously disappeared, Gotham is a city in despair. Without the Caped Crusader, the Gotham City Police Department was overrun and outgunned by criminal gangs. Enter Jacob Kane (Dougray Scott) and his military-grade Crows Private Security, which now protects the city with omnipresent firepower and militia. Years before, Jacob’s first wife and daughter were killed in the crossfire of Gotham crime. He sent his only surviving daughter, Kate Kane, away from Gotham for her safety.

After a dishonorable discharge from military school and years of brutal survival training, Kate returns home when the Alice in Wonderland gang targets her father and his security firm, by kidnapping his best Crow officer Sophie Moore (Meagan Tandy). Although remarried to wealthy socialite Catherine Hamilton-Kane (Elizabeth Anweis), who bankrolls the Crows, Jacob is still struggling with the family he lost, while keeping Kate –– the daughter he still has –– at a distance. But Kate is a woman who’s done asking for permission.

In order to help her family and her city, she’ll have to become the one thing her father loathes –– a dark knight vigilante. With the help of her compassionate stepsister, Mary (Nicole Kang), and the crafty Luke Fox (Camrus Johnson), the son of Wayne Enterprises’ tech guru Lucius Fox, Kate Kane continues the legacy of her missing cousin, Bruce Wayne, as Batwoman.

Still holding a flame for her ex-girlfriend, Sophie, Kate uses everything in her power to combat the dark machinations of the psychotic Alice (Rachel Skarsten), who’s always somewhere slipping between sane and insane. Armed with a passion for social justice and a flair for speaking her mind, Kate soars through the shadowed streets of Gotham as Batwoman. But don’t call her a hero yet. In a city desperate for a saviour, she must first overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham’s symbol of hope.

“Batwoman is kind of like Batman,” Rose said while speaking with the New York Times regarding her role. “She’s sort of no-nonsense, very stern. She’s cheeky but she doesn’t speak a ton, and when she does, she kind of does a lower voice, hiding her identity. When I do fight sequences and stunts as Batwoman, I do the Alexander Technique, where we study the bat and study the movement. Even the head movements are kind of batlike, so it feels like two different people.”

Starring Ruby Rose (Orange Is The New Black), Rachel Skarsten (Reign), Dougray Scott (Snatch), Meagan Tandy (Teen Wolf), Elizabeth Anweis (Twin Peaks), Nicole Kang (You), and Camrus Johnson (Luke Cage).

The new CW mystery show, Nancy Drew, gives fans a new look at the iconic young detective. The show takes cues from some of the other CW shows such as Riverdale which are apparent in the trailers and it’s even schedule to air right after Riverdale in October.

The series creative team has revealed that the main character, Nancy Drew, is a high school graduate who lives in the apparently haunted town of Horseshoe Bay. As you may recall, the name of the town in the book series is River Heights, but the creators were concerned that the name was too similar to Riverdale, hence the change. They’ve also revealed that Nancy will be working in a local diner named The Claw, while taking a year off before college.

The plot of the first season revolves around a prominent resident of the town who is discovered dead outside the restaurant and it sees Nancy and some other young townies become suspects. Nancy attempts to solve the crime and finds herself investigating alongside ex-con Nick (who is the TV counterpart of Nancy’s boyfriend Ned in the books). Other characters such as Bess and George are also going to feature.

The main character is going to be played by Kennedy McMann who says she’s been a fan of the detective since childhood. She told EW, “I think there’s a sense of her character that comes from the games and comes from the books that you only know intimately if you’ve really gotten to know them. There’s this cunning but this sense of humor mixed into it, and this sense of [how] she never doubts herself, that I really wanted to make sure stayed true [in] this representation of her.”

The cast also revealed that while the show is based on the Nancy Drew books, that fans shouldn’t expect complete recreations of classic Nancy Drew stories. However, they have said that there will be mentions of older mysteries as well as slight nods to the books in the form of character appearances, clothing and other objects.

Despite not getting a whole lot of information on the new series, Nancy Drew promises to be a fresh twist on the classic mystery series complete with darker and supernatural elements.

Pandora is set in the year 2199, when humanity has come into contact with aliens and has set up an academy of train both humans and extraterrestrials to defend the galaxy from threats, no matter where they come from. Jax is one such student, a human with a secret origin, one she must uncover for herself. Its discovery could turn her into the galaxy’s saviour or its destroyer.

Jax (Priscilla Quintana) is a super smart, naturally inquisitive, empowered, and with a quick acerbic wit. As traumatic as the death of her parents was for her, her world will be turned upside down even more when she learns her whole life is a lie.

Xander Duvall (Oliver Dench) is a brilliant, a intelligent and mysterious teacher’s assistant to Professor Donovan Osborn, which is actually a cover for his real role as a top operative in the Earth Confederacy Intelligence Services where his loyalties are tested between his obligation to Osborn and his love for Jax.

Atria Nine (Raechelle Banno) is a bubbly, very loquacious, free spirited, sexually fluid, purple-haired young woman, she has a strange symbol tattooed on her neck denoting she is a clone who was once the property of the Adari sect. She has emancipated herself from the theocracy at great cost, both physically and emotionally. Although she comes across as amazingly upbeat, optimistic, and sweet, her cheery disposition hides a darkness in her soul… perhaps because she often wonders as a clone if she truly has one.

Greg Li (John Harlan Kim) is a brilliant medical student who is smart, laconic and charming as hell. His laid back manner belies his incredible, sharp intelligence and effortless charisma. Focused on his career, he discovers a kindred spirit in Jax.

Ralen (Ben Radcliffe) is the son of the Zatarian ambassador, a humanoid alien species and former adversary of the Earth Confederacy, who must confront prejudice and hatred at the Academy from those who still blame the Zatarians for the brutal war between Earth and Zatar that only ended a few years earlier when the two warring races signed an armistice. The first Zatarian to ever matriculate at the Academy, Ralen isn’t trusted by most. Jax, however, is willing to give Ralen a chance even as the audience will question Ralen’s loyalties and motives throughout the series.

Delaney Pilar (Banita Sandhu) is Jax’s roommate. A brilliant, nannite-enhanced woman with cybernetic implants who is able to process information more quickly as she is perpetually connected to the Datastream. Because of her enhanced abilities, Pilar initially comes off as aloof and egotistical around others (“You act so superior.” “Because I am superior.”). Although her implants allow her to access the Datastream and the group mind of those in the Datacore, Pilar begins to question the decision to give up her individuality to the hive mind as a young child.

Thomas James Ross (Martin Bobb-Semple) is serious and driven and he wants to be a fighter pilot until destiny takes a hand and he discovers his true abilities and values. Thomas is the son of a telepath who was genetically engineered during the war with the Zatarians, and retains some of his father’s esper abilities. Thomas, however, actually wants nothing to do with his estranged father who squanders his powers on gambling and seduction.

Professor Donovan Osborn (Noah Huntley) is a force of nature, Jax’s Uncle, and the Academy’s most respected and terrifying teacher. He is arrogant and demanding, but also brilliant and incredibly intimidating. But his role as a professor is only cover for his more pressing responsibilities in the Earth Intelligence Services.

The show stars Priscilla Quintana (Traffik) as Jax, Oliver Dench (The Athena) as Xander Duvall, Raechelle Banno (Home and Away) as Atria Nine, John Harlan Kim (The Librarians) as Greg Li, Ben Radcliffe (The Evermoor Chronicles) as Ralen, Banita Sandhu as Delaney Pilar, Martin Bobb-Semple (Free Rein) as Thomas James Ross, and Noah Huntley (Free Rein) as Professor Donovan Osborn.

A flawed and irreverent blind woman is the only “witness” to the murder of her drug-dealing friend, Tyson. After the police dismiss her story, she sets out with her dog, Pretzel, to find the killer while also managing her colourful dating life and the job she hates at the guide dog school owned by her overprotective parents.

Starring Perry Mattfeld (Shameless) as Murphy, Brooke Markham (Friend Request) as Jess, Murphy’s best friend and roommate, Keaton John (Shameless) as Tyson’s cousin Darnell who is a local drug dealer, and Rich Sommer (Mad Men) as Dean, an officer investigating Murphy’s claims.

In The Dark premieres April 4th at 9pm on The CW. The first season will consist of 13 episodes.

John Constantine (Matt Ryan) is a demon hunter and master of the occult. He struggles with his past in which he left a girl dying during a satanical ritual. He then swears to protect the innocent and fight the supernatural beings which are constantly trying to break into our world.

In his fight, he is accompanied by his long time friend Chas Chandler (Charles Halford) who possesses the ability to come back from the dead and Zed Marni (Angélica Celaya), an artist who draws has visions. The angel Manny (Harold Perrineau) is assigned to John to watch over him and his actions.

In 2014, Constantine aired on NBC, but the dark DC Comic adaptation of this anti-hero story only happened to be around for 13 episodes before it got cancelled by the network. Still, in this short period of time, the show found a solid fan base which still fights for the shows return.

Taking place in the DC universe, people thought that The CW would pick up the series and include it within the Arrowverse. Arrow, which aired in 2012, and The Flash, which aired the same year as Constantine, would have been a nice home for the series. This ramped up after The CW saved Supergirl, which got cancelled by CBS after one season in 2015, so Constantine fans started to draw attention to this show even more.

Constantine’s theme may have not been one which can be included that easily, but The CW started listening to the fans and thanks to Stephan Amell, Matt Ryan reprises his role as Constantine for one episode in Season 4 of Arrow. Back then Amell said, “The reason that I was going to guest star on Constantine, at least the idea that we were throwing around was [Constantine’s] an expert when it comes to the Lazarus Pit, which is now something that is a part of and will continue to be a part of Arrow”.

The CW saw how well the fans accepted Constantine into the Arrowverse that in 2017 they made him a regular cast member in Season 4 of Legends of Tomorrow.

Now that The CW has the right to use this character, the possibility for picking up the show or even start from the beginning is a quite realistic one. Maybe this is even their plan, to establish this character in the Arrowvese through Legends of Tomorrow and give him his own TV show afterwards.

A Charming Anti-Hero

John Constantine is not everybody’s darling. He definitely is not a guy a girl will take home and introduce him as her soon-to-be-husband. Still, John can charm his way into your heart. Under the thick layers of sarcasm, he is a broken man, whose biggest wish is to change the past, especially to change that one moment everything went sideways. His drinking, smoking, and drug habits are hiding his true self, which is caring and selfless.

Magic Magic Magic

The more shows you watch which involve magic, you often hear that magic comes with a price. Of course, this is also something Constantine has to deal with, especially since there is only dark magic in this show, the price he has to pay is not a cheap one. All these Latin spells come from the darkest corner of hell and there is always the possibility that while fighting one evil, another will be unleashed upon the world.

Constantine focuses on the roots of magic so a part of this show takes place in New Orleans introducing the audience to Papa Midnite, a voodoo priest, and the Brujeria, a sinister organisation that is involved in the rising darkness John has to fight against. In fact, you see people using raw magic, reading spells, and mixing potions. Magic, which is not fun or nice to mess with.

Plenty of Potential

Taking magic out of the picture, the show has a lot of potential. During the 13 episodes the audience gets introduced to the characters, but they do not really get to know them. So for those of you who have not read the comics, it may not be easy to understand the characters fully. From John’s past in Newcastle and how Chas got his powers and what he had to give up, to Zed who clearly does not know what she really can do with hers, you can see that these complex character arcs bring something to series and even though you only see glimpse, it will make you ask for more.

Dedicated Main Actor

There are actors who simply play a role and take their paychecks and when the show is over, they just look for something new. But then there are actors who really are dedicated and feel responsible for the character they have to become and one of these actors is Matt Ryan.

I had the pleasure of meeting him two years ago on a comic con, just after his first appearance in Legends of Tomorrow and before it was announced that he will be in the main cast. Ryan said how he prepared for this role and how nice it is for him to see that the fans want to see more of him. After the show was cancelled, he reprised his role a couple of times as well as in lending his animated self his voice in “Justice League Dark” and “Constantine: City of Demons” the animated TV show and movie.

In the new series, more than maybe anywhere else on Earth, Roswell, New Mexico is ground zero for those who seek proof that aliens exist. Roswell native Liz Ortecho (Jeanine Mason) left it all behind 10 years ago after the death of her beloved older sister Rosa. But after the government cuts funding on her biomedical research, she reluctantly returns to her tourist-trap hometown to move back in with her father.

When Liz arrives, she reconnects with Max Evans (Nathan Parsons), her teenage crush, who is now a Roswell police officer. Their chemistry is instantly electric. But Liz soon discovers a shocking truth: Max is an alien who has kept his unearthly abilities hidden his entire life, along with those of his otherworldly sister, Isobel (Lily Cowles), and their friend Michael (Michael Vlamis). As the two grow closer after a decade apart, Liz finds it difficult to keep the truth from her best friend, Maria De Luca (Heather Hemmens), and her trusting high school ex, Dr. Kyle Valenti (Michael Trevino).

Also hiding their extraterrestrial origins are Isobel and Michael, with Isobel not even revealing the truth to her husband, Noah Bracken (Karan Oberoi), and Michael keeping his identity hidden beneath a bad-boy exterior of hard living and casual hookups. Meanwhile, Master Sergeant Jesse Manes (Trevor St. John) spearheads a long-standing government conspiracy — unbeknownst to his son, Alex Manes (Tyler Blackburn), who has recently returned from service overseas with emotional and physical injuries. The politics of fear and hatred that run rampant in Roswell threaten to expose Max and his family and could endanger his deepening romance with Liz…as well as their lives.

Legacies is set to follow the daughter of Klaus Mikaelson and Hayley Marshall, Hope Mikaelson (Danielle Rose Russell) who is descended from vampire, werewolf, and witch bloodlines, which makes her very powerful. It is set two years after the events of The Originals as she attends the Salvatore School for the Young and Gifted.

Earlier this month, the cast and showrunners of Legacies attended New York Comic Con and they spoke about what we can except from the series. Showrunner Julie Plec said that Legacies is what she hoped The Vampire Diaries would be. “It’s a world that keeps giving back creatively,” Plec said. “This show is what The Vampire Diaries was before it became TVD. Everything I always thought TVD would be, I was able to circle back and bring to here.”

As for returning characters, we will be seeing Jeremy Gilbert again, who has been working as a hunter, but something will bring them back to Mystic Falls so he can pop up for a few episodes including the third episode. Matt Donovan, or shall we say Sheriff Donovan, may work with Alaric, but if bodies start dropping, he stands with the humans. Zach Roerig who plays Donovan calls his character “frazzled,” “crazy,” and “going a bit insane” trying to manage it all.

Plec also promised that we’ll see more of Mystic Falls, especially with the local high school kids not fond of the Salvatore students. Naturally, this will cause Alaric to take his headmaster duties seriously with tackling these new set of responsibilities.

Being a teenage-focused series, there’s bound to be just a little bit (or a lot) of romance. Alaric’s daughters Lizzie and Josie will be interested in the same guy, but it doesn’t necessarily meant they’ll compete for his love. “It’s less of a love triangle and more of a decision of whether or not Josie wants to pursue it. It’s a co-dependent plight more than anything else,” said Plec. To give it balance, Legacies will be more humorous than The Vampire Diaries with its young supernatural characters. “We wanted to embrace our inner Buffy and have a good time,” Plec explained. This can be noted as the series will follow a monster-of-the-week format to give it more of a procedural feel.
