October is the spooky season with tricks, treats, and terror filling the air. It’s also when ghosts, ghouls, and supernatural beings make themselves known. Halloween is the perfect time for horror films and TV specials with most TV shows having at least one Halloween themed episode, while others have more and sometimes these episodes are linked. Here are a variety of fun and scary episodes from 31 TV shows, so sit back, relax and enjoy watching your favourite characters on this frightening feast day!

1. Friends: The One with the Halloween Party (Season 8 Episode 6)

Halloween arrives in New York as Monica and Chandler throw a costume party for the gang. Chandler has a costume mishap resulting in him wearing a pink bunny costume, Joey comes as Chandler, Phoebe as Supergirl, Monica as Catwoman and Ross as “Spud-Nik”, Rachel wears a fancy dress before she can no longer fit in it due to her pregnancy. Her maternal feelings cause her to give out all the candy resorting to giving money instead. Sean Penn guest stars as Ursula’s fiancé.

2. Modern Family: Halloween, The Last Halloween (Season 2 Episode 6, Season 11 Episode 5)

Spooky season is a big deal in suburban Los Angeles resulting in seven different Halloween episodes in this series. The first Halloween episode showcases Claire’s love for Halloween as she turns her home into an elaborate haunted house for trick or treaters. Mitchell goes to work dressed up as Spiderman with unexpected results, Cameron repeatedly tells a traumatic childhood story of why he is scared of Halloween. Meanwhile Gloria starts talking with an English accent. This episode marks the 30th episode overall. In the final Halloween episode, the audience sees Phil trying to scare Claire until he eventually succeeds. Alex and Luke both go through a break up and Gloria wins a Drag Queen contest. (See also Season 4 Episode 5, S6 E6, S8 E5, S9 E5, S10 E5)

3. Brooklyn Nine-Nine: Halloween (Season 1 Episode 6)

This episode starts an iconic Halloween tradition in the precinct between Jake and Captain Holt that continues throughout every season. Jake bets Holt he can steal his Medal of Valor from Holt’s locked office before midnight. His efforts are hilarious. Amy and Charles have to go undercover in costume much to her dismay and Terry discovers Rosa’s secret. Although this episode is not particularly scary, it is fun to watch these beloved characters celebrate Halloween. (See also Season 2 Episode 4, S3 E5, S4 E5, S5 E4, S6 E16)

4. Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Halloween, Fear Itself, All the Way (Season 2 Episode 6, Season 4 Episode 4, Season 6 Episode 6)

Being the chosen one means Buffy fights off Vampires on a day-to-day basis alongside any other demon that decides to rise up over Sunnydale. Therefore, it’s no surprise that there are three Halloween episodes across the seven seasons. The first Halloween episode takes place when the gang are still in high school: the costume shop owner performs a spell that turns everyone who bought their costume from him into their characters, for example, Buffy loses her slaying powers and becomes a weak debutante in her pretty dress. The second episode is at a college haunted house frat party where everyone’s worst fears come to life and the third showcases Buffy’s role as a parent in her sister Dawn’s life. Regardless of Halloween, these three episodes are worth a rewatch as they show Buffy’s character development from high school student, college student and legal guardian.

5. The Vampire Diaries: Haunted, The Five (Season 1 Episode 7, Season 4 Episode 4)

Mystic Falls is home to vampires, hybrids, doppelgangers, werewolves and witches: everyday is like Halloween. However, there are two specific episodes in the series to note: the first takes place at a Halloween dance at the high school. Vicki, Jeremy’s girlfriend, is a new vampire with an addictive personality but Stefan kills her because she attacked Elena. Damon compels Jeremy to forget about Vicki. Stefan’s good guy personality and Damon’s bad boy persona are played against each other in both of these episodes and the rest of the series. In Season 4, Damon dressed as Jack the Ripper with Elena and Bonnie as his victims attend a Halloween frat party at Whitmore College. Damon helps Elena master her new bloodlust and she begins to feel things she shouldn’t. *blares feel so close by Calvin Harris* Meanwhile, Klaus acts as a puppeteer controlling Stefan and tortures Connor, a vampire hunter belonging to the group, The Five.

6. Pretty Little Liars: The First Secret, This is a Dark Ride, Grave New World. (Season 2 Episode 13, Season 3 Episode 13, Season 4 Episode 13)

Anonymous texts from a creepy stalker that knows way too much about you and your friends is enough to scare anyone on a regular day. Therefore, these Halloween specials are extra terrifying. It also cannot be a coincidence that each Halloween special falls on the thirteenth episode. This first episode is a prequel to the pilot. The Halloween before Ali goes missing, Alison and the girls get invited to Noel Kahn’s Halloween party until a worrying text from Alison causes the liars to leave and go to an abandoned house. The next episode unfolds on a terrifying ghost train with the girls dressed up as Marilyn Monroe, Daisy Buchanan, Marie Slim Browning and Barbarella with interference from A. The last Halloween episode takes place first in a graveyard, then underground tunnels which leads the girls to a creepy old mansion. The end of the episode confirms that Alison is alive and wants to come home to Rosewood.

7. One Tree Hill: An Attempt to Tip the Scales, Not Afraid (Season 3 Episode 4, Season 8 Episode 6).

Tric is the perfect setting for Halloween in both of these episodes. In the first, a masquerade ball leads everyone to dress up as who they would like to be rather than who they are. For example, Hayley dresses up as Sandy from Grease. Stolen kisses, practical jokes and commitment issues are at the heart of this episode as Fall Out Boy perform. In the second one, although in their adult life, the gang enjoy an open mic night at Tric on Halloween with some funny costumes as Julian arrives as a Dalmatian with his mother as Cruella and Hayley comes as herself in high school; a pregnant cheerleader.

8. Ugly Betty: The Lyin, the Watch and the Wardrobe (Season 1 Episode 5)

The Suarez house is transformed with Halloween decorations by Ignacio. Betty arrives at Mode dressed as a butterfly for the costume contest only to learn that Marc only sent the email to her. She takes it in her stride and decides she has won. Marc finds a new way to make fun of Betty by dressing up as her. Henry, secretly dressed as Superman, grows closer to Betty, much to Walter’s dismay. Amanda tries to get her claws into Daniel by keeping his watch from their night together but Betty figures it out. Meanwhile, Daniel visits Claire in rehab and Wilhelmina’s wicked witch personality thrives in this episode as she can’t fit into a designer gown and has been slandered for dating a younger man.

9. Sabrina the Teenage Witch: A River of Candy Corn Runs Through It (Season 2 Episode 31)

This tv show has many Halloween themed episodes to choose from due to the realm between living and the dead being at its weakest on All Hallows Eve. Also, it being Hilda and Zelda Spellman’s favourite holiday. Episode 31 shows an unexpected Halloween party being thrown at Sabrina’s enchanted house for all of her fellow, mortal students. Although she was the last to know, Sabrina decides to let the party go ahead. The arrival of talking furniture, Ghouls from the closet, termites, overflowing cauldrons, and an attention seeking, talking cat make this Halloween party one to remember.
10. How I Met Your Mother: The Slutty Pumpkin, The Slutty Pumpkin Returns (Season 1 Episode 6, Season 7 Episode 8)

Although there are three Halloween episodes in this series, the first and the last are the ones to note because they are linked. The first Halloween episode of the series highlights Ted’s hopeless romantic personality trait as he goes to the party on the roof hoping he will meet this girl in a slutty pumpkin costume four years earlier. Marshall and Lily enter the costume contest as a parrot and a Captain Sparrow character at MacLaren’s and win with surprising results. Barney must change his costume multiple times as his pick up lines keep failing him. Robin doesn’t like to share which causes Mike to break up with her. The last Halloween episode is a continuation of the first as the title suggests, The Slutty Pumpkin Returns. Ted discovers the slutty pumpkin costume in a shop window and finds out the identity of the girl, Naomi (guest star Katie Holmes). They begin dating until they both agree they have no chemistry and break up. Barney’s worst nightmare comes through as Robin discovers he is one quarter Canadian. (See also Season 6 Episode 7)

11. New Girl: Halloween (Season 2 Episode 6)

This Halloween episode marks the 20th episode in the series. Jess goes to work at a haunted house, dressed up as a zombie. She develops feelings for Dr Sam even though their relationship was meant to be just physical. Nick is stressed out because his college crush, Amelia, is coming to visit him. He also faces his fear of haunted houses with entertaining results. Schimdt tries to get close to Cece but realises she’s happy with Robby. Winston and Shelby fight about their costumes.
13. Sister, Sister: Halloween (Season 3 Episode 7)

In an effort to be different, both Tia and Tamera buy the most outrageous costume they can find only to end up dressed the same as each other. The twins borrow Roger’s brand new Mercedes convertible to drop their friends at a Halloween rave even though they are grounded. The girls end up at the Canada US border and on the late night news leading to a hilarious reaction from a furious Ray in his pink bunny costume.

15. Stranger Things: Trick or Treat, Freak (Season 2 Episode 2)

There is a clue in the title that ‘strange things’ are always happening in the town of Hawkins. Halloween is no different. The boys dress up as Ghostbusters paying homage to the film at that time while nobody else at school is in costume. That’s a nightmare in itself. The kids continue to fight monsters from the upside down in this spooky episode filled with 80’s references.

16. The Suite Life of Zack and Cody: The Ghost in Suite 613 (Season 1 Episode 19)

Since Stephen King’s The Shining and subsequent film version, hotels can have a creepy element with abandoned rooms, long corridors and basements. After Muriel tells a ghost story about suite 613, Zack, Cody, London, Maddie and Esteban decide to spend the night. Esteban holds a séance, Arwin detects paranormal activity while the rest of the gang wait patiently to hear from ghost Irene.

17. Bones: Mummy in the Maze (Season 3 Episode 5)

Bones episodes mainly consist of finding human remains in a strange situation. This episode is like every other one with an added Halloween twist. At a Halloween hay maze, a mummified corpse was found by a lost kid. A second body shows up at Shoreline Amusement Park and Booth and Bones rescue another girl from becoming the third body. There’s a Halloween party for the Jeffersonian Institute which Cam insists everyone must go to because there will be sponsors in attendance. Booth is dressed up as a squint and Bones is Wonder Woman. This is a good episode to watch before the upcoming film.

19. American Horror Story: Murder House (Season 1 Episode 4, 5)

Five mangled teens from a school shooting haunt Tate to find out why he killed them while he’s on a date with Violet. After seeing an ultrasound of Vivien’s baby, the doctor collapses leading the audience to believe there is something seriously wrong. Ouija boards, the return of the rubber man, and the revelation that Constance is Tate’s mother sums up some of the action.

Deception and mistaken identities take over Malibu in this Halloween special. Robby Ray’s niece, Luann, who looks like Miley, comes to visit from Tennessee. At first, she fools everyone (except Miley) with her sweet and innocent act. She ties Miley up and leaves her in the closet then goes to a party dressed as Hannah with an unsuspecting Lola. Terrified she’s going to ruin her secret, Miley escapes and rushes to the party. The two Hannah’s get mixed up and it’s up to Lily and Oliver to determine who’s the real Miley. Meanwhile, Jackson and Bobby Ray are annoying their neighbours with their Halloween decorations.

24. The Big Bang Theory: The Middle Earth Paradigm (Season 1 Episode 6)

Penny throws a Halloween costume party and invites the gang which is a test of their social skills. After The Flash costume disaster, they must change outfits: Leonard is Frodo, Raj is a Norse God Thor, Sheldon is The Doppler Effect and Howard is Robin Hood. Penny kisses Leonard for the first time. Although this Halloween episode is not scary, it is fun to watch. (See also S2 E6, S6 E5, S12 E6).

25. This is Us: The 20’s (Season 2 Episode 6)

Halloween is here and the Pearson family are back in this fun filled flashback episode. It shows the big three at aged ten and then again in their twenties. Jack and Rebecca take the kids trick or treating dressed as Sonny and Cher while Kate is Sandy from Grease, Kevin is a cigar-smoking bum and Randall is Michael Jackson. The big three struggle in their twenties: Beth and Randall are awaiting the birth of baby Tess not long after Randall’s nervous breakdown; Kate is working as a waitress and involved with a married man and Kevin attempts to steal an acting role from his roommate and friend. Miguel reaches out to Rebecca for the first time in years. There are no present day scenes as this episode offers an insightful journey into the past lives of Kate, Kevin and Randall on Halloween.

26. Supernatural: Family Remains (Season 4 Episode 11)

Having already discussed the Salvatore brothers, it’s time to talk about the Winchester brothers: monster hunting duo Dean and Sam. In this episode, they investigate the appearance of a ghost girl after a man called Bill Gibson was murdered in a locked room in an abandoned house. His wife died in childbirth, and his daughter hung herself in this attic. The boys try to warn the Carter family who are going to move into the house but they don’t pay any attention until their son, Danny, is kidnapped through the walls. Disturbing facts about the Gibson family makes this a horrifying episode.

27. Once Upon A Time: The Doctor (Season 2 Episode 5)

Storybrooke becomes home to a new monster, Frankenstein, otherwise known as Dr Whale, in this episode. Frankenstein is the first character to appear from literature that is not for children. The scene in the lab is a reference to the 1931 film, Frankenstein. In the present day, Dr Whale wants Regina’s help in bringing his brother back but she refuses because she’s trying not to use magic for Henry’s sake. Dr Whale revives Regina’s first love Daniel Colter by giving him an enchanted heart with disastrous results. Torn Limbs, hearts inserted and removed and an ogre massacre is just a part of the action in this episode.

28. 13 Reasons Why: Tape 2 Side B (Season 1 Episode 4)

The ghost of Hannah haunts every episode of this show as the audience are brought through her thought process before her death. This episode takes place on Halloween. It focuses on the character Tyler Down who is on the fourth tape which documents the reasons Hannah committed suicide. He was stalking Hannah and taking unwanted pictures of her. He took a picture of her and Courtney Crimsen kissing and showed everyone at school which ended the girls’ friendship. Clay helps to clean the outside of Hannah’s house as it has been toilet papered and chats with her mom. He delivers his own form of revenge by sending a naked picture of Tyler to the whole school.

29. Heartland: The Haunting of Hanley Barn (Season 3 Episode 4)

Hooded figures, thunder crashing and a power cut make this episode a spooky one. Hudson’s favourite ghost story takes place at Hanley barn. Mr Hanley’s horses are being spooked at night by the supposed ghost that’s been haunting the place. During a thunderstorm, Ty and Amy spend the night keeping an eye on the horses while Caleb, Soraya and Ashley try to frighten them. A tragic love story from years ago comes to light at the end.

30. That 70’s Show: Too Old to Trick or Treat, Too Young to Die (Season 3 Episode 4)

Hitchcock’s horror influence infiltrates Point Place Wisconsin as the gang fall victim to different comic spoofs from the films. Laurie attacks Kelso in the shower while her red shampoo goes down the drain. Fez thinks Bob killed Midge and disposed of her body. Eric has vertigo after falling from the garage roof and Kitty is left in charge of birds which does not end well. (See also Season 2 Episode 5)

31. Dynasty : Wild Ghost Chase (Season 3 Episode 3)

The Carringtons have a flair for the dramatics and this Halloween spectacle lives up to their reputation. What better way to celebrate the scary season than with a party at the manor. Fallon is dressed as Marie Antoinette and Adam is Louis XVI and ironically they both end up in Halloween cake following their fight. After his sister’s body is found in the Carrington Lake a few episodes back, Evan destroys Fallon’s garden which is part of her community service to try and ensure she goes to jail but later apologises.

Spoiler warnings below for all seasons of Supernatural

With its contentious final episode “Carry On”, Supernatural wrapped up 15 years of hunting monsters and bid farewell to the Winchester brothers. The landing was rocky, partially because the COVID-19 pandemic threw a spanner in the works during production earlier this year, leading to some minor rewrites that left out a number of significant characters in the last few episodes. But with the resources that showrunners Andrew Dabb and Robert Singer had to work with, Supernatural found an emotional conclusion for the fraternal relationship right at the show’s centre.

A lot has changed since the show’s inception in 2005. Beginning as a monster-of-the-week fantasy horror show heavily inspired by Buffy the Vampire Slayer, season 1 saw hot-headed older brother Dean recruit his calmer, more academic young brother Sam to search for their recently disappeared father. John Winchester, played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan, is a hunter, and it is looking like Dean will follow in his footsteps while Sam is hoping to establish a more stable life. The show’s universe quickly grew to cosmic proportions when demons, angels, and archangels were introduced. Season 4 saw the addition of Castiel to the main cast, an angel ally who sought to help the Winchesters prevent the Apocalypse.

Supernatural reached its peak in season 5, which saw archangels Michael and Lucifer fight it out in the absence of their father, God, who had mysteriously been missing for thousands of years. Their story mirrored the Winchesters’ own relationship, reflecting all their own insecurities about being their father’s favourite versus the one who struck out on his own. It was a thrilling character study using very loose interpretations of the Bible to explore brotherhood through the ages.

Everything was wrapped up so neatly that when Supernatural was renewed for a sixth season, everyone was a little bit surprised. In the subsequent years Supernatural never quite reached the same level of quality again, but it continued to develop in new, unexpected ways. The showrunners always seemed to believe that its fanbase were men much like the Winchesters, but in the 2010’s the social media platform Tumblr revealed it to consist largely of young, progressive women, the sort of demographic that the show would sometimes mock with its own regressive form of politics.

Eventually the writers learned better, and started to incorporate parts of the fandom into their show. Season 6’s “The French Mistake” saw Sam and Dean end up in our universe where they were actors in the television show Supernatural, and the 200th episode “Fan Fiction” had them investigating a local high school that was staging a musical adaptation of their adventures. The show’s relationship with its female and queer characters never fully improved, but in its final seasons there was a solid effort to bring in a more diverse range of characters. It even attempted to launch a spin-off show titled Wayward Sisters, intended to revolve around the women in the Winchesters’ life with their own sets of skills and powers to hunt down monsters. But sadly it wasn’t picked up by any networks, and any hopes for its success fizzled out.

The seasonal story arcs themselves varied in quality. The release of the Darkness at the end of season 10 was a breath of fresh air back into the series, once again raising the stakes and allowing for more parallel arcs between cosmic beings and the Winchester brothers. The addition of Jack, the son of Lucifer, in season 13 also brought a new dynamic to the cast, seeing Sam, Dean, and Castiel take on parental roles. But for every exciting Darkness-centric season we would get a duller one, such as the arc revolving around the British Men of Letters who never ended up being terribly interesting or memorable. The post-season 5 road was rocky, and as the final season rolled around it was unclear how well the show was going to stick its landing.

At first, it looked dour. The first episode of season 15 saw the writers back down on the ridiculously high stakes it had set up in the season 14 cliffhanger, which made it seem as if God had revived every monster the Winchesters had ever destroyed. As it turns out, it was only a few ghosts from a small town that had come back, none of which were particularly intimidating. But still, God had promised to bring the brothers’ story to a climactic finale, following which he would destroy all of his creation. The stakes were high, and all the showrunners would need to do is pull off their biggest climax yet.

The moment that solidified their success was God’s erasure of every living being except for Sam, Dean, Jack, and also as it turns out, the archangel Michael. A last minute cameo from Mark Pellegrino as a very briefly revived Lucifer gave the episode some added fan service, but it was the final coup d’etat on God that ultimately felt so satisfying. Having Jack suck his power from him, effectively rendering him mortal, gave Sam and Dean the free will they had desired for so long, and ensured that the universe would now be in the hands of a truly benevolent being.

What rocked social media even more than this though was Castiel’s confession of love for Dean, which brought the 2010-era Tumblr fans back out of the woodwork. Destiel, the name given to the pairing of Dean and Castiel whose relationship was often interpreted as being rife with homo-erotic undertones, became canon. But any hopes that it might stick around was destroyed mere seconds later when Castiel sacrificed himself, once again giving rise to complaints about the show’s treatment of its queer characters.

While the season 15 arc had reached its conclusion in “Inherit the Earth”, the real final episode “Carry On” was a bookend to the 15 year arc of the Winchester brothers’ relationship, the heart of the show. Enjoying lives no longer governed by a megalomaniacal God, the two continued killing monsters until one hunt went wrong and saw Dean end up on the wrong side of a long, rusty nail. Realising it’s the end, he had time to say a tearful goodbye to Sam before passing on. Any complaints about this being an anticlimactic ending for such a larger-than-life character miss the point. Dean’s life was only epic because God made it so, so once he started living an ordinary existence it would make sense for him to die like an ordinary hunter – on his own terms, not on God’s. It was the death Dean had always expected, and perhaps even wanted. Likewise, Sam always wanted a normal life with a family of his own, something he never would have gotten if God had his way. With Dean’s demise, Sam pursues that life he never thought he would be able to have, eventually dying as an old man.

If it weren’t for complications brought about by the pandemic, Supernatural may have been able to bring back some of its key characters as a final farewell. It was disappointing to not see Eileen appear one last time, especially as the show spent so much time exploring her potential relationship with Sam throughout the season, but it was even more unfortunate that we wouldn’t be seeing Castiel return to settle his relationship with Dean. There is mention that he is safe in heaven, along with John and Mary Winchester, and we do get a Bobby Singer cameo which is worth something. But to canonise a major Supernatural theory and then leave it completely unaddressed in the series finale feels much more anti-climactic than Dean’s death.

The unofficial Supernatural theme song “Carry On My Wayward Son” traditionally heralded each season finale since the beginning, but here it is left right to the end so that it underscores the moment that finally gives its lyrics meaning. Sam and Dean’s reunion in heaven, finally finding peace after lives of fighting evil, closes out a series that has meant a lot of things to so many people. It was one of the first television shows to develop a vocal internet fanbase, and to evolve alongside the geek culture it inspired. Its quality was never consistently good, and its worst episodes ranged from corny to downright regressive, but it was a significant part of television for well over a decade. I don’t believe it will be forgotten very easily.

It was mid-March last year when Supernatural actors Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles, and Misha Collins came together for a video to deliver the news that their 15th season will be the last. Tears were shed, fans were heartbroken (pretty sure we still are), and fellow Supernatural stars and crew shared their sentiment. Now, we only have a few months and episodes left until the finale airs on Monday, May 18.

And so, as we count down the days to the finale (and to cure the gut-wrenching pain in our hearts, even just for a little bit), why don’t we reminisce and revisit the funniest episodes of Supernatural? From simple comic reliefs, to weird episodes to mind-boggling episodes to downright crazy ones, and even fourth wall-breaking episodes, Supernatural definitely knows how to make the audience crack up! Here are some of the funniest Supernatural episodes you should watch before the show ends:

Hell House (Season 1, Episode 17)

A prank war ensues between Sam and Dean and they meet paranormal investigators, Harry Spangler and Ed Zeddmore, all the while trying to investigate a house being haunted by a man who killed his six daughters during the 1930s.

Tall Tales (Season 2, Episode 15)

Aliens? Weird enough. Urban legend involving an alligator in the sewer? Even weirder. This episode managed to confuse the boys (and us) and lead them into a fight they did not expect.

Bad Day at Black Rock (Season 3, Episode 3)

Sam and Dean come across a lucky but also very cursed rabbit foot. Those who touch it will become unbelievably lucky, but once they lose it, their lives will be in danger. This is definitely not Sam’s lucky day.

Mystery Spot (Season 3, Episode 11)

It’s funny, it’s mind-boggling, it’s poignant, and it gave Sam a hundred painful Tuesdays to remember. Mystery Spot finds Sam and Dean in the middle of a supposed “time loop” while investigating a mystery spot.

Dean gets infected with a strange illness that causes anxiety and full-blown terror, and now we get to see him running away from a cute little Yorkie.

The Monster at the End of this Book (Season 4, Episode 18)

Sam and Dean discover that their entire lives are being written by a prophet (is he really a prophet though? *wink*) and have been published into books.

The Curious Case of Dean Winchester (Season 5, Episode 7)

Live fast, die young! Literally. Sam and Dean come across a witch who runs a high-stakes poker game where you bet years of your life.

Changing Channels (Season 5, Episode 8)

The trickster (or is it?) is at it again as Sam and Dean get stuck in an odd and dangerous universe full of realistic sets of various TV shows where they have to take on ridiculous characters and play their parts.

The trick or treat season is here! If you need some spooky inspiration for your Halloween costumes or perhaps a few scares, then here are some horror filled television shows that just might do the trick!

The Haunting of Hill House

This terrifying tale is available on Netflix and it revolves around the traumatic childhood experience of a family and how it comes back to haunt them in the present.

Stranger Things

This 1980s meets monster tales combination with children and adults on an epic adventure is one hell of a tale you don’t wanna miss, plus it’s filled with plenty of nostalgia mixed with a whole lot of darkness.

Supernatural

This long running horror series may be coming to an end soon, but there’s 14 seasons to enjoy! Watch two monster-hunting brothers solve urban legends on this adventurous ride.

Devilman Crybaby

Devilman Crybaby is amongst the most twisted and violent series that one would find on Netflix. It shows you the story of a sensitive teenager infected with a homicidal demon.

Mindhunter

This exceptionally interesting series tells the true story of how FBI evolved into the minds of serial killers. The difficulties they faced to convince the law of their methods and ways of tracking and investigating dark and intriguing murders is a must-watch. The second season of Mindhunter has recently released on Netflix.

Wynonna Earp

This horror series is about Wyatt Earp’s descendent who protects the Purgatory town from demons and an immortal Doc. This action packed supernatural thriller show is available on Netflix and it’s a smaller gem that needs to be enjoyed by the masses.

Supernatural came back with a new episode, following the events of the season premiere where we saw Jensen Ackles’ brilliant performance as Michael and Jared Padalecki showing us a new side of Sam. It is all very exciting and nerve-wracking because it seems like things are not going too well for our heroes.

We start off the episode with Michael. He is in an abandoned church and he has multiple people in chains, and it turns out they’re all vampires and Michael is using them as experiments. He makes them bleed into a cup, and then Michael mixes the blood with a bit of angel grace and forces the vampires to drink from the cup. The results are not very pleasant and many of the captured vampires dead. We don’t know what Michael is planning on doing exactly, but he is determined to keep trying until he gets the results he is looking for.

Sam has been looking at the police reports, following what Jo told her about Michael’s location, and finds an article on the news about multiple corpses being found with their eyes burned out. Mary, Bobby, and Sam get ready to hit the road as Castiel’s angel presence could alert Michael of their presence, so he needs to stay behind. Plus, they need someone to look after Jack and Nick.

Castiel The Caregiver

Castiel brings Nick some food and Lucifer’s previous vessel has been remembering a lot about Lucifer’s actions. Nick seems to have some trouble understanding why he would ever say yes to Lucifer possessing him. Castiel reminds him that Nick had been in a lot of pain at that time, having just lost his family as a man broke inside his house and killed Nick’s wife and son, smashing their heads with a hammer. Lucifer approached Nick soon after that and in his desperation Nick accepted Lucifer’s proposal.

Sadly, the news seem to give Nick a new purpose: to find the man who killed his family and get his revenge. When Castiel tries to comfort Nick and get him to calm down, Nick reacts right away with snapping his fingers. It is a very Lucifer-like reaction. And even though Castiel can’t find any of Lucifer’s presence left in Nick, his psyche seems to have been more damaged than they originally thought.

After Nick, Castiel goes to check on Jack. The nephilim has been reading through multiple texts on biblical lore in the hopes to find something about his own grace. Unfortunately, since archangels are very rare, there is not much information. Here Castiel and Jack have a small bonding moment in which Castiel talks about the time he lost his own grace. He explains how he focused on what he had left: Sam, Dean, and himself. Castiel gives Jack the advice not to focus on the past, but instead to focus on where he is going.

Grandparents

The chat with Castiel gives Jack some ideas, and so he decides to look out his family on his mother’s side. He meets with his grandparents, though he never really tells them who he is and he uses the excuse that he is friends with Kelly. Kelly’s parents ask him about the baby Kelly had, and Jack lets them know he was born healthy and that Kelly is a great mother. After a very emotional moment with his grandparents, Jack struggles not to tell them who he really is, but he is able to hold back and returns to the bunker.

Castiel is not very happy with the visit Jack had, but they have another bonding moment in which Jack explains his motives behind the visit. Jack claims that he wants to learn about his past before moving forward, except their little bonding moment is ruined when Jack asks about their plan to kill Michael. Castiel explains they are not planning on killing Michael, just getting him out of Dean. Jack seems to disagree with Castiel, saying he has seen what Michael can do and that they should kill him to avoid the risk of him escaping. Jack claims that if Dean has to die, then that would be what Dean would want. Castiel can’t find an argument against that.

On The Hunt

Meanwhile, Sam, Bobby, and Mary are looking through the corpses that were found by the police. They find out that they are all vampires, and after looking through the security footage, they find a lone vampire that escaped Michael. She tells them how Michael has been experimenting and how she managed to escape. She also tells them the location of the church where Michael has been doing his experiments.

While they’re doing that, Michael arranges a meeting with the leader of the werewolves. He tells them that God is in a permanent vacation and that Michael has plans to make the world a better place. Michael expresses his admiration towards werewolves, that kill to live and not for sport. He offers them a way to enhance their abilities and he plans a war against humanity.

Unfortunately for the vampire that escaped, Michael finds her when she’s about to run away. Michael explains he used her as a bait and that he had been planting a trap for the hunters. Sam, Bobby, and Mary are ambushed by werewolves at the church. They’re surprised when the silver does not affect them, which seems to be Michael’s doing. Fortunately, decapitation does the work and after a gruesome fight, the hunters are victorious.

Once they fight off all the werewolves, Michael comes stumbling inside the church. Only, it seems to be Dean saying that Michael “just left”.

Nick’s Revenge

The episode ends with Nick. He visits his old neighbour, who had claimed to see a man walk out of Nick’s house the day of the murder. The neighbour, however, took back his statement and then the murder was never investigated further. Nick approaches him to get more answers, and when the neighbour does not provide him with more, Nick kills him with a hammer. This leads up to the question of how much Lucifer affected Nick, or if he was already that way before Lucifer.

Overall, it was a very exciting episode. Though a bit confusing with Dean’s last scene. I am still unsure if it is really Dean, or if Michael is planning something. We’ll have to wait for the next episode to find out!

Michael’s Mission

The Archangel Michael is on a mission to ‘make a better world’, and that is exactly how this episode starts. Michael finds a Muslim man praying to Allah. After revealing himself, Michael asks the man what is it that he wanted the most, which is peace and love. However Michael accuses him of lying because of the man’s past sins and Michael says he finds humanity not worth saving.

Throughout the episode, we see Michael visiting multiple people, asking them all for ‘what they want’ and deciding who is worth saving. He catches up with Sister Jo, an angel that abandoned heaven and works on Earth, healing people with her angelic powers in exchange for money. That’s how Michael finds her. When Michael asks her what she wants and Jo replies with a sarcastic joke, Michael calls her out on it. The archangel knows who she is because Dean used to know her.
Sam’s Mission

Sam is back in the bunker and he has enlisted everyone to help look for Dean. Mary, Maggie, and many others from the Apocalypse World have been going out on missions, trying to find clues on Michael and what could have happened to Dean. Every single mission they go to seems to be a dead-end and Sam is starting to grow frustrated.

Meanwhile, Jack has been training with Bobby. After losing his grace to Lucifer, Jack is completely powerless. However, he is determined to help find Dean and stop Michael, so he wants to find a way in which he could be useful. Hence, the fighting lessons. Unfortunately, they are not going as well as he would have hoped and Jack has been getting frustrated with his lack of improvement.

We also get a surprise at the bunker. After Sam has checked up on Jack, making sure he is alright and assuring him that ‘being human is alright’, Sam is called to another room. Here we find, Nick. The man who Lucifer had taken as a vessel and how he survived while Lucifer died are unknown. Sam says that the archangel blade killed the archangel inside Nick, but not Nick himself. Whether this is true or not, we do not know. Having such a familiar face around seems to make everyone at the bunker uncomfortable, including Sam. However, Sam is determined to help Nick and get as much information as he can. Nick, unfortunately, claims he does not remembers much of the encounter between Lucifer and Michael.

A Demon Trap

On Castiel’s side, things had not been good either. He is in Detroit and he catches up a meeting with a demon called Kip. Castiel is hopeful that the demons have heard about Dean’s whereabouts. Sadly, the demons were not aware that Dean was missing, so they have no information. Realizing this, Castiel finds himself surrounded by demons that had planned the meeting as a trap. Even though Castiel tried to fight them off, they quickly overpowered him.

Having Castiel as a prisoner, Kip calls Sam. The demon claims he wants to make a deal with Sam, in exchange for Castiel. Sam organises a rescue party, with Mary, Bobby, Maggie, and Jack, but during the trip there, Sam breaks down a bit while talking to his mother. He says he is not sure if Dean is even alive anymore or what could Michael have done to him. Mary responds that he needs to keep up a positive attitude, otherwise the bad thoughts will drown her.

Once at the bar where Kip is keeping Castiel, Sam decides to head inside by himself. Once they meet, Kip tells Sam that he wants the ‘Crowley Deal’. Basically, he wants to be King of Hell and have the Winchesters working with him. Sam claims that Crowley never had that kind of deal, but Kip asks him again to consider the deal again when some demons bring in Jack and Maggie, who they had found outside. Sam denies the deal once more and then Mary and Bobby burst inside the bar guns ablazing and all hell breaks loose.

There is a fierce fight between demons and hunters. Bobby is overpowered by some demons and he is being beaten, but then Jack steps in and calls the attention of the demons. Unfortunately, his fighting skills are not yet refined and he ends up getting beaten down. Meanwhile, Sam is fighting off Kip. After struggling, Sam manages to kill Kip with the demon blade. This stops the fight and Sam calls out to the remaining demons that if anyone wants to step up and be King of Hell, they have to go through him. With that, all demons escape.

Back At The Bunker

When they all return to the bunker, Sam and Castiel catch up in the advances they’ve had finding Dean, but there aren’t many. Sam reveals that Ketch is in London looking for the device that was used to kick Lucifer out of the president’s body a few seasons back, but he has had no luck finding it. Castiel apologies for what went down with the demons, but Sam reassures him that he has nothing to apologise for. In fact, Sam wished he would have thought about asking the demons first and that he probably would have done the same.

Castiel then sees Jack who voices his insecurities, saying that when he had his powers he would have been able to help more and that instead he got beaten on the face. He feels guilty because he can’t help finding Michael and saving Dean, claims he is useless and has nobody. Castiel is quick to comfort him, saying that Jack has his family with him, Sam, Mary, and himself. Castiel also says that all of them will do everything they can to find Michael and that they will save Dean no matter what.

The episode ends with Sam receiving a call from an unknown phone number. When Sam picks up, it is Sister Jo on the other side saying that they have a problem.

Final Thoughts?

Personally, I am excited for this season. I am a bit sad we won’t be seeing so much of Dean, since Jensen Ackles will be playing Michael for an undefined amount of episodes, but I am excited to see how it all turns out. I wanted some more excitement for a season premiere, but somehow, I feel as if this first episode is setting the tone for what is to come. Things are much more difficult now, and Sam needs to hold up the fort by himself and save his older brother. Of course, he is not completely alone. He has everyone at the bunker helping him out, and I am sure they will find a way to separate Michael and Dean.

Supernatural is back on October 11th, and the fans are beyond excited! The Winchesters continue their journey saving people and hunting things, but they don’t seem to catch a break.

It has been revealed that season 14 with pick up right after the finale of season 13. So before the new season starts, there are a few things you should remember to kick off on the new episodes.

1. Michael Is Back

Well…Alternate Michael. Season 13 ended with some of the characters from Apocalypse World coming to the Real World. Unfortunately, among those characters was the archangel Michael. When Lucifer went against Jack and team Free-Will, Michael made a deal with Dean to help them defeat Lucifer. Sadly, archangels are not to be trusted. Once Lucifer was dead, Michael took complete control over Dean’s body and now he’s in the loose.

2. Bobby and Charlie Are Also Back!

There was some good from Apocalypse World, which comes in the form of Charlie Bradbury and Bobby Singer! They’re not actually the characters we have grown to love, since they’re the Alternate versions of them. However, it seems they will be taking a part in the overall plot of the new season and it is exciting to have some familiar faces around.

3. Earth Is Out of Archangels

It seems like Alternate Michael is the only archangel walking on Earth at the moment. The only two that were left were Lucifer and Gabriel. Lucifer was killed by Dean and Alternate Michael, and Gabriel was killed in the Apocalypse World. So we only have Alternate Michael left. Put into the mix that Heaven is running out of angels…things do not look too good for our winged friends. Of course, Supernatural has been known for bringing back many of their characters. Gabriel himself had ‘died’ in season 6 before he came back for season 13. So maybe we will be seeing some angels coming back.

4. Jack’s Grace

It is unknown what happens to Jack’s grace. In the season 13 finale, Lucifer stole Jack’s grace before he died. It has not been revealed yet if Jack will get his angel mojo back. For now, he is completely mortal.

5. Sam Is Determined To Save His Brother

As is normal for the Winchesters, they have each other’s back. Season 14 has Sam putting together a team, looking out for Alternate Michael, and doing everything he can possibly do to save his brother. We are hopeful he will be able to bring Dean back.

It is unknown what this new season will bring. Hopefully, we will be ready for what is to come for our favourite heroes. Supernatural returns Thursday, Oct. 11th, at 8pm ET on The CW.

Written by Camila Gutierrez

Supernatural is one of the most popular TV shows, mainly because of its longevity, a lovable brother duo, and a cute and hilarious angel. Despite this, there are still many people out there who are hesitant to watch it, possibly because it is so long or maybe because they aren’t really sure what it is about. But fear no more! Here we present to you only ten reasons (because there are more, honestly) to watch this CW show!

1. Amazing Plot

There’s no denying that Supernatural has a pretty great plot. It starts off with the Winchesters, a happy little family. There’s the mother, Mary, the father, John, and two adorable little brothers named Sam and Dean. When Mary is killed by a supernatural being six months after Sam is born, John will do everything in order to find it and kill it, even if it means dragging his children into this hunt. So, the brothers grow up in this dangerous life of hunters, and there’s no better way of explaining it than with this line:

Twenty-two years after Mary’s death, everything is going as good as it can in the lives of the Winchester men, but when daddy John goes missing, Dean goes looking for Sam’s help, since Sam got away from the life to go to university. Together, they will try to find John, but nothing is that simple for Sam and Dean, and they encounter all kinds of beings along the way.

So, in other words: the most badass, coolest plot ever, right? It’s a crazy ride filled with ups and downs and there’s all kinds of moments: action, hilarious, the not-so funny and also downright sad moments that you will feel right along with Sam and Dean.

2. Best Brother Relationship Ever

One of the best things this show has to offer has to be the relationship between Sam and Dean. Dean is the protective big brother, willing to do anything to keep Sam safe, while Sam is the little brother that can be annoying sometimes but cannot live without his brother. They care so much for each other, and they will do anything not to lose the other. They have gone to great, and I mean GREAT, lengths to ensure the other’s safety, sometimes not even caring about the consequences. Their bond is so strong that it is definitely one of the reasons fans have stuck with them and this show for so long. The fans live for these brotherly moments and trust me, there are plenty of them for you to enjoy.

3. Good Looking People Everywhere

OK, this one might be the most superficial one, but true nonetheless. The actors in the show are stunning! Jensen Ackles (Dean Winchester), Jared Padalecki (Sam Winchester) and Misha Collins (Castiel), besides being spectacular actors, are extremely good-looking. I don’t know about you, but that definitely contributes to the enjoyment of the show in my opinion. Plus the list can go on with other supporting cast members such as Jeffery Dean Morgan, Genevieve Cortese, Katie Cassidy, Sterling K. Brown, Alona Tal… Honestly, The CW knows how to do one thing well and that’s to find some serious jewels for their shows!

4. It’s Still Going So There’s Plenty To Watch

And actually, it has been recently renewed for its 14th season! With more than 250 episodes, you are guaranteed for a few months worth of Supernatural. Once you’re finished, you can rewatch episodes especially the mind-blowing ones which is always a good solution if you want more.

5. Fantastic Supporting Characters

Since it has been on the air for so long, there are a variety of secondary characters for you to fall in love with. Even if the only appear in one or two episodes, these characters have a way of getting into your heart. From really grey characters to strong female characters, there’s a little bit of everything. That being said, don’t get too attached, because there’s one thing Supernatural is good at: making fans suffer.

6. An Excellent Soundtrack

Probably the second best thing in the show has to be the music. Dean is a rock and roll junkie, and pretty much the whole show is filled with these awesome classic rock songs. The songs convey just so precisely the show and the brothers. Also, there are songs such as Carry on My Wayward Son by Kansas that will stick with you forever, since most of the time they are a symbol of the show. Trust me, if you are not a fan of rock, this show will convert you.

7. The Fandom

Supernatural has a pretty big fandom considering its longevity. People even think of it as one of the best fandoms, and Jensen and Jared themselves have said on many occasions that the fandom they have is awesome and supportive of the cast and crew of the show. There have been ups and downs, but certainly this fandom is more than just that: it’s one big family. Also, take this in mind: Tumblr is where the Supernatural fandom lives. You for sure will find most of them there. It is scary what the fandom can do in there.

8. The Mythology

Let’s face it: Supernatural has a wide range of rather interesting creatures. From angels, demons, vampires… and even faeries! It gets a little weird sometimes, but that is one of the reasons people love this show. They are unlike anything you will ever see on TV. It tackles a lot of lore and ancient creatures, including leviathan, the four horsemen, reapers and so many more!

9. Jared and Jensen’s Chemistry

Jared and Jensen are best friends in real life, which just adds to the feeling that they are truly brothers. They have said in many occasions that they consider themselves best friends, and even their wives and kids are friends too! That is maybe why the relationship in the show works so wonderfully. Jensen has even stated that the show wouldn’t have lasted this long if he and Jared weren’t friends and as committed to the show as they are. Their chemistry in the show is INSANE! It is no surprise fans already think of them as real-life brothers.

10. All Set To Binge

That’s right. All twelve seasons can be found on various streaming platforms including Netflix and Stan in Australia, so there’s no excuse really not to watch it. We just made it easy for you. You’re welcome.

And there you have it, 10 reasons why you absolutely should watch this awesome, crazy, heart-wrenching show. But for real, this show is fantastic, and you might as well give it a shot after reading this. Do yourself a favour. You won’t regret it. If you are looking for a show that will make you laugh, cry, want to punch someone in the face, smile, scream… well, this is it.

Even though the whole season had been building up for this episode, one is never ready to hear ‘Carry On My Wayward Son’ and see the recap of everything that happened during the season. However, this season finale felt different the others because it seems years of anticipation and ‘what ifs’ have been building up to this moment.

But let’s begin with the start of the episode where Sam is giving everyone from Apocalypse World a small recap of everything that has been happening in the Real World, including movies and the current president. Sam, Dean, Castiel, and Jack resume a normal routine of hunting monsters, while everyone else tries to fit into the Real World.

With Jack on the team, Dean feels very optimistic about their future and for once, the oldest Winchester thinks they can finally put a stop to all evil in the world thanks to Jack’s power. However, Sam seems weary of Dean thinking about retirement. Unfortunately, the world is not safe yet as Bobby and Mary come across the dead body of Maggie, one of the many who came from Apocalypse World.

Meanwhile, Jack is having a nightmare about all the people he could not save. Dean wakes him and explains that everyone makes mistakes, but no matter what comes their way, they’ll always figure something out. The sweet moment ends when Jack sees Maggie’s body and they figure out she snuck out the night before to see a boy causing Jack to fly there immediately. Sam, Dean and Castiel race to stop him from killing the innocent and he freaks out over what he could have done to him or others.

Father and Son

While Jack has his meltdown, Lucifer appears and explains everything that Sam lied about: how Michael didn’t kill Lucifer and how he left him behind. Now Lucifer is there for his son, and he tells Jack that they’ll never mix well with humans. Jack in his emotional state believes Lucifer and Lucifer suggests they leave together to explore the galaxy. Jack is interested, but only if Lucifer resurrects Maggie.

Jack brings his father to the bunker, and Lucifer seems reluctant to bring her back, but Jack says that’s the only way he will agree to leave. Maggie is brought back, and the two of them leave.

Archangel Michael

Dean, Sam and Castiel run into Michael. Thankfully, Dean has some holy oil in the Impala and traps Michael long enough for them to escape. At the bunker, the three of them are trying to come up with a plan to get Jack back. Sam talks to Maggie to see if she remembers anything from her death, and she only remembers their eyes.

The lights in the bunker begin to flicker and soon enough, Michael storms in. The boys send Mary, Bobby and Maggie away while they hold off the archangel. However, Michael is too powerful and takes everyone out and while Michael has Dean by the throat, Sam prays to Jack.

Lucifer and Jack shows up just in time for Jack to save Dean and throws Michael across the room. Jack channels all of his anger towards Michael and he is winning the fight until news comes out about Michael and Lucifer’s deal. Dean explains that Lucifer and Michael’s deal consisted of Lucifer getting Jack while Michael gets the rest of the world. Lucifer denies this, although he’s not the ‘bad guy’ at the moment. Sam gets more news as Maggie saw Lucifer’s red eyes before she died. Jack is now reeling with anger and power, which forces Lucifer to tell the truth. The devil confesses he killed Maggie after she spotted him scouting out the bunker.

Jack accuses Lucifer of being a monster and says that he is not his father. This is the last straw for Lucifer, who finally let’s go of everything he had been trying to suppress in order to get on Jack’s good side. Lucifer says he doesn’t need Jack, only his power. With one quick movement, Lucifer uses an archangel blade to cut Jack’s neck and steal his grace. Sam tries to help Jack and as a result, the three of them disappear. This leaves Dean and Castiel alone with a defeated Michael and no idea how to save Sam from Lucifer.

Michael’s Sword

Dean tried to get Michael to fight against Lucifer, but in his state, the archangel won’t be able to go against him since Lucifer has the power to almost destroy the whole universe.

In this moment, Dean comes up with a plan to use Michael’s sword…it just turns out that Dean is Michael’s sword. Back in season five, Zachariah and Gabriel wanted Dean because he is Michael’s perfect vessel, which would make Michael stronger than ever. The archangel admits that with Dean he would have a chance to deaf Lucifer. Dean makes a deal with Michael to be his vessel, but only if Dean is behind the wheel and Michael agrees.

Meanwhile, Lucifer takes Sam and Jack to a church where he puts the archangel blade between them and says that if one of them doesn’t kill the other, he will kill them both. Sam gives the blade to Jack, but Jack know he’s not powerful enough to beat Lucifer and that the best chance was Sam and Dean. Jack points the blade to his own heart, but then Michael arrives in Dean’s body!

Michael and Lucifer begin to fight right away, and it seems Lucifer is about to win, Sam tosses his brother the archangel blade. Just like that, the devil is deal. The relief is short-lived because Michael goes back on the deal and takes over Dean’s body. The episode ends with Michael walking down the street using Dean’s body and flashing his eyes at the screen.

Final Thoughts?

Personally, I loved the season finale. It was nerve-racking to watch, but oh so good. Somehow, it brings us back to season five and everything that could have happened back then. Back in season five, we had Lucifer with Sam’s body fighting against Michael and it ends with both of them in the cage. Now we get everything that could have happened if Dean had accepted to be Michael’s vessel and if they had killed Lucifer back then. It makes sense that the producers and writers brought such an arc to the story and the whole of season 13 was a reflection of the Real World with the Apocalypse World. The Apocalypse World is everything that could have happened, but didn’t. Now at the end of the season 13, it’s everything that could have happened at the end of season five, but didn’t.

It was quite impressive and I loved the episode! Unfortunately now we have to wait for a new season, which won’t be on until October! That being said, it’s certainly going to be an experience.

Supernatural is coming to a close next week and so we are one episode away from the end of season 13. This episode picks up right after the events of the previous episode.

We see Sam arriving at the camp where everyone is and explaining how Lucifer brought him back. Lucifer, in an attempt to impress Jack, claims he wants to join the team and he points out that they need another archangel, since Gabriel’s grace is still running very low. Even though he’s right, nobody is happy with that option. Dean and Castiel are the first ones to express their discontent towards Lucifer’s intentions as they don’t want Lucifer anywhere near Jack. After a heated argument in which Dean demands to Gabriel to kill Lucifer, Jack teleports away.

Jack finds himself overwhelmed with everything that is going on and ends up in the woods trying to figure out what the right thing is. He is invaded by an amount of emotions and memories of the video his mother had left him before he was born. Meanwhile, Castiel snaps some handcuffs on Lucifer, who informs everyone that they have around 31 hours before the rift closes.

Family Feelings

Dean and Sam have a moment in which Dean confesses he thought he had lost Sam. The brothers hug tightly, but the moment does not last long. Knowing they don’t have much time, Dean wants to know what they’re going to do about Lucifer. Sam tells him he is going to handle it, and the brothers then head over to Mary in order to talk to her. Mary, on her part, informs her sons that she is not planning on going back to their world. Mary has been fighting with the people in the Apocalypse World for a long time now, and she wants to stay in order to help them. While the boys do not agree with her decision, it seems obvious she is not going to change her mind. So instead of trying to change her mind, Sam comes up with another plan. Their plan is to bring everyone through the rift. Once everyone is in the real world, they will take some time to form a plan in order to defeat Michael. They are a total of 25 people, so it does not look like an impossible plan.

Meanwhile, Jack comes back to the camp in order to listen to what Lucifer has to say. Lucifer tells Jack to ask him anything, and so Jack’s first question is “Why does everyone hate you?”. Lucifer guesses Jack has heard all the tales about how evil he is, but he assures Jack that they are not true. He talks about how humans are not perfect and how they are hard-wired to fall. Lucifer also comes up with the defence that he has been locked up for a very long time, so how could all this evil be his fault?

Castiel then runs to get Sam and Dean to help him out and they arrive just in time to hear Lucifer explaining how Jack’s family is the best. Castiel tries to explain to Jack how his real family are them, not Lucifer except Jack wants to continue listening to what his father has to say.

Escape Plan

Everyone heads towards base camp in order to regroup with Bobby and tell him about their plan. On the way there, Castiel is worried about Gabriel as the archangel had gone to scout but should have come back by now. Their worry does not last long, and soon Gabriel approaches them running and warning everyone about angels. Before the group of angels can attack them, they vanish into thin air with a snap of Lucifer’s fingers. Turns out, those handcuffs are not a match for Lucifer, and he makes them disappear. He claims he just wanted to help them all, which is why he just vanished the bad guys.

The group keeps moving and soon they reach base camp, which turns out to be Singer Auto Salvage and Bobby is there to greet them all. He lets them know that Charlie and Ketch are out on a mission to save a human from an angel kill squad. Unfortunately, it turns out to be a trap for the two of them, and they end up captured and tortured for answers. The one torturing them turns out to be none other than the Castiel from Apocalypse World, although he does not get too far and the rescue team shows up.

Once Charlie and Ketch are back at base camp, the Winchesters explain the plan and decide to take a vote. Meanwhile, Lucifer is running Jack through his family tree and takes Jack to introduce him to Gabriel. Of course, Gabriel is not buying the whole act Lucifer is putting up and claims that Lucifer is making himself the victim. That is just the beginning of the conversation. Later on, when the two archangels are alone, Gabriel has it out with his brother. He says Lucifer has not changed at all and Gabriel comes up with a defence for humans by claiming they are innocent and that Lucifer could not stand that God loved them more, which is why Lucifer corrupted them and God locked him in a cage. Only, it was too late. Humans were already corrupted. Gabriel also says to Lucifer that it is too late for Lucifer himself.

The people have voted, and they all agreed to go to Sam and Dean’s world. However, with just under two hours left before the rift closes, the group has to figure out a way to get everyone to the rift. Dean revisits his mechanic skills and fixes up a bus, which everyone boards in order to reach the rift. Once there, Ketch is the first one through. Rowena is keeping the rift open on the other side, and seems surprised when more people than initially planned are coming through. Jack, Mary, Bobby, Castiel, Charlie, and many others follow after Ketch and arrive at the Bunker.

However, in Apocalypse World, Michael shows up and kills the few humans that were still there. Lucifer moves to fight him, but he is taken down very easily so Gabriel tells the boys to go and that he will buy them some time. After a hand-to-hand combat against Michael, sadly Gabriel dies from Michael’s angel blade. With Gabriel’s death, Dean goes to the rift. Sam stays behind just long enough to stop Lucifer from going through and he pushes Lucifer away, finally getting his revenge. Sam then steps through the rift and it closes behind his back. Unfortunately, the closed rift leaves Lucifer and Michael together making a deal. Lucifer knows the spell to open the rift, and when they open it, Lucifer will have his son back and Michael will have everything else.

Final Thoughts?

The ending leaves us with a bittersweet taste in our mouths. While everyone is celebrating in the real world, Jack seems very bummed and the celebrations are shadowed by those we have lost with Gabriel’s death weighting down in our chests. And then Lucifer’s plan with Michael lets us know nothing good could come for the season finale. We can only wait to see what happens next week in the final episode of season 13!
