According to the official synopsis, Work In Progress follows “Abby who is a 45-year-old self-identified fat, queer dyke whose misfortune and despair unexpectedly lead her to a vibrantly transformative relationship. Chicago improv mainstay Abby McEnany co-created and stars.”

Chicago-based performers Theo Germaine (The Politician) and Karin Anglin co-star alongside Celeste Pechous, with Julia Sweeney (Saturday Night Live, Shrill) appearing in a crucial role as herself.

Lilly Wachowski (The Matrix, Sense8) will co-write the first season and executive produce with Abby McEnany and Tim Mason. SHOWTIME acquired the project after its premiere at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, where it was an official selection of the Indie Episodic program.

Work In Progress premiers December 8th on Showtime with eight half-hour episodes.

In the seven part limited series, to understand the events that led to the rise of the modern Republican party, one must understand Ailes. Focusing primarily on the past decade in which Ailes arguably became the party’s de facto leader, the series also touches on defining events in Ailes’ life, including his experiences with world leaders that gave birth to his political career, and the sexual harassment accusations and settlements that brought his Fox News reign to an end.

Russell Crowe plays Roger Ailes, who is the former founder and head of Fox News Channel and built the most successful cable news operation the country has ever seen. Brilliant, tenacious and combative, he moulds his platform into the mouthpiece for his beloved Republican Party and staunch conservative values. Roger is both bully and charmer, standing atop the media landscape for years until the revelations of his demeaning and sexualised treatment of women leads to his downfall.

Gretchen Carlson (Naomi Watts) is the former morning star of Fox News Channel’s top rated “Fox and Friends,” this former Miss America has the looks and personality that Roger Ailes covets for his network. But when she asserts herself in pursuit of her ambition, she’s exposed to the dark underbelly of her boss, forcing her to question how far she’ll go to get what she wants.

Sienna Miller plays Beth Ailes, Roger Ailes’ wife who is twenty years his junior, a pretty blonde in the mold that Roger likes. She sets aside her own promising news career to be with Roger, and devotes herself to keeping his home, raising his son, and championing his conservative causes. Roger’s confidante, Elizabeth is a power behind the throne.

Brian Lewis (Seth MacFarlane) is a brash young executive whom Roger poaches to head up PR at Fox News in the 1990’s (who is no longer in this role at FOX News). Brian Lewis was an eager participant in Roger’s vision of what Fox News Channel should be and fully embraced Roger’s dictum to “let PR be the engine of Fox News Channel,” Brian uses the dark arts of PR to further Roger’s every demand.

Annabelle Wallis plays Laurie Luhn, an ambitious woman who rises to former Head of Booking at Fox News Channel, Laurie is Roger’s long-time mistress. Even as the pressure of continuing the relationship she comes to abhor threatens to destroy her, she struggles to resist Roger’s abusive hold over her.

Judy Laterza (Aleksa Palladino) is Roger’s long-time assistant is loyal and devoted to her boss, and always by his side with whatever he needs, often before he even knows he needs it. She is plain and mild-mannered, definitely not Roger’s type, but nothing her boss does or says escapes her watchful gaze.

Starring Russell Crowe (Les Misérables), Naomi Watts (King Kong), Sienna Miller (American Sniper), Seth MacFarlane (The Orville), Annabelle Wallis (The Mummy 2017), and Aleksa Palladino (Boardwalk Empire).

In the early 1990s, Boston was rife with violent criminals emboldened by local law enforcement agencies in which corruption and racism was the norm – and then it all changed in what was called the “Boston Miracle.” In this fictional account, assistant district attorney Decourcy Ward comes from Brooklyn and forms an unlikely alliance with a corrupt yet venerated FBI veteran, Jackie Rohr. Together, they take on a family of armoured car robbers in a case that grows to involve, and ultimately subvert, the entire criminal justice system of Boston.

“City On A Hill has the veneer of a classic Boston cops-and-robbers drama, but actually dives head first into challenging the very institutions it depicts,” David Nevins, President and CEO of Showtime Networks Inc., said in a statement. “In reality, the series is a penetrating look at the larger criminal justice system and those who operate within it, with mesmerising performances by Kevin Bacon and Aldis Hodge anchoring the suspense.”

Kevin Bacon stars as FBI veteran Jackie Rohr, while Aldis Hodge co-leads as idealistic District Attorney Decourcy Ward who helps clean up the city. Meanwhile, Jonathan Tucker, Mark O’Brien, and Amanda Clayton are a Charleston family of armed robbers.

Starring Kevin Bacon (The Following), Aldis Hodge (Straight Outta Compton), Jonathan Tucker (Westworld), Mark O’Brien (Halt and Catch Fire), and Amanda Clayton (NCIS: New Orleans).

It’s all happening at The Jammer Group, a ragtag Wall Street firm headed by Maurice “Mo” Monroe (Don Cheadle). Mo leads his team of misfit traders, including no-nonsense Dawn (Regina Hall), eager-to-please Keith (Paul Scheer), wild man Wayne (Horatio Sanz), and hotshot Yassir (Yassir Lester). Into this motley mix walks Blair Pfaff (Andrew Rannells), a young wide-eyed trader who gets in way over his head. Together, they take on the moneyed, blueblood, old-boys club of New York finance and end up unwittingly crashing a Lamborghini limousine, the glass ceiling and the world’s largest financial system in this scathing comic commentary on 1980s excess.

The series was created and executive produced by David Caspe (Happy Endings) and Jordan Cahan (My Best Friend’s Girl), who also serve as showrunners. James Weaver and Don Cheadle also serve as executive producers, and fellow EPs Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg directed the pilot.

In his first series regular role in over two decades, Jim Carrey stars as Jeff, aka Mr. Pickles, an icon of children’s television and a beacon of kindness and wisdom to America’s impressionable young minds and the parents who grew up with him. But when this beloved personality’s family begins to implode, Jeff finds no fairy tale, fable or puppet will guide him through the crisis, which advances faster than his means to cope. The result: a kind man in a cruel world faces a slow leak of sanity as hilarious as it is heartbreaking.

At the Television Critics Association in August, Carrey told the audience that Kidding  isn’t that far from The Truman Show as the central character – Jeff, aka Mr Pickles – struggles with his identity and puts on a facade.

“The idea of identity, the search for identity of who you are; what’s an authentic person has always been attractive to me…The idea of being hit by a freight train in life and hanging on to the idea of yourself, that’s really attractive.”

Carrey thinks the truth of the comedy series will resonate with the audience. “The only hope of cutting through the clutter these days; you have to go bigger than everyone else or you’re lopping ten heads off per episode or you hit a nerve and touch people in a place that’s real. Because nothing gets to the back row like the truth. If the truth is in there, people will be interested. They want to see themselves, they want to see their own truth.”

Michel Gondry serves as an executive producer and is also directing several episodes. The pilot for the series was written by creator, executive producer, and showrunner Dave Holstein (WEEDS, Raising Hope). Kidding is also executive produced by Carrey, Michael Aguilar (I’m Dying Up Here), Roberto Benabib (WEEDS), Raffi Adlan (The Green Hornet), Jason Bateman (Arrested Development) and Jim Garavente (Bad Words).

The series stars Jim Carrey, Frank Lengella (Frost/Nixon), Catherine Keener (Get Out), and Judy Greer (Married).

In a tour de force role, Benedict Cumberbatch plays the titular character who struggles to overcome the damage inflicted by a horribly abusive father and the mother who tacitly condoned his behavior. This gripping and humorous saga encompasses the South of France in the 1960s, New York in the 1980s and Britain in the early 2000s.

In an interview with Variety, Benedict Cumberbatch commented that the show has been a “passion project of his.”

“These are some of the greatest moments of 21st century prose, and to be a part of dramatizing that is a real treat,” Cumberbatch said of the “Patrick Melrose” novels. “This is a hell of role, and a hell of a stretch for any actor, and a hell of an opportunity for me, and I just hope we’ve done the books justice, so we’ve done something that has the same following and integrity the books do.”

Each episode will be devoted to one of the five novels and xecutive producer Michael Jackson spoke about the “vision for this [miniseries] that each episode would have its own style, like a small movie.”

The series was written for television by BAFTA Award® nominee David Nicholls (Far from the Madding Crowd, One Day) and directed by celebrated film director Edward Berger (Deutchland 83, Jack). Executive produced by Michael Jackson and Oscar nominee and Emmy and Golden Globe® winning producer Rachael Horovitz (Moneyball, Grey Gardens). A co-production between SHOWTIME and Sky Atlantic.

In the upcoming series, every night, a group of up-and-coming comedians wait to perform at Goldie’s, the hottest stand-up club in town. But first they’ll have to win over Goldie, who rules the Sunset Strip with an iron fist. Stand-up is a drug for these comedians, and they’re willing to sacrifice everything to get their fix. They brave the pain of sharing their innermost thoughts and darkest secrets, hoping that someone, anyone, will laugh.

This fictional group of competitive but close-knit comedians is mentored by “Goldie” (Leo), a brassy comedy club owner who rules over her business with an iron fist, but nurtures her comedians with tough love. For Goldie and her crew, there’s truly no such thing as an easy laugh.

25 years on, Twin Peaks is heading back to the small screen thanks to Showtime. The two season series produced by CBS originally premiered back in 1990 and followed an investigation led by FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper which looked into the murder of homecoming queen Laura Palmer in Twin Peaks, Washington. The series also saw a feature film, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, produced in 1992.

Even though the film didn’t fare well in the box office, Twin Peaks has a somewhat cult following and helped to set the ‘dead girl’ standards for future television series, such as Pretty Little Liars and even Riverdale.

Now here comes the third season! The revival season will consist of 18 episodes which picks up 25 years after the inhabitants of the quaint northwestern town were stunned when their homecoming queen Laura Palmer was shockingly murdered.

The series was written and executive produced by series creators David Lynch and Mark Frost, and is executive produced by Sabrina S. Sutherland.

Twin Peaks will premiere with a two-part special on Sunday May 21st at 9pm ET with the episodes being made available on Showtime on Demand and Australia’s Stan. The third and fourth episodes will be made available to stream on Showtime Anytime and Showtime on Demand which will then premiere on television the following weekend with single episodes thereafter.
