This year’s panel for the show was bittersweet, following the recent announcement that the upcoming forth season would be its last. Created by Mike Schur (of Parks and Recreation, and one of the creators of Brooklyn Nine Nine), the moral comedy which cleverly reinvented itself at the turn of each season, has drawn a devoted following for the three years it has been on our screens.

Although D’Arcy Carden said that “it sucks” that the show will be ending, Jameela Jamil (who plays Tahani) added that: “It’s so cool to know we’re completing the story as it was supposed to be completed.” Indeed, given how many shows suffer the fate of cancellation before their time, it is nice that show is ending on its own terms. Executive Producer Drew Goddard said, “I think when people see the finale they will understand why the show needed to end right now,” Goddard added.

Schur apparently only just finished writing the season finale – he didn’t want to reveal any details about how the show ends in case Ted Danson revealed too much at the panel. The few things that were revealed about the upcoming season were that we will meet a new version of Janet, and that while filming, Manny Jacinto (the adorably dumb but sweet – and hot – Jason) apparently managed to halt filming for a whole hour after delivering a one-liner that forced everybody to stop and laugh, with Ted Danson in fact laughing so hard that he was crying. Apparently, if you look carefully enough, you can see the various cast members trying not to break in various scenes.

Bell also directed one episode in the season. Speaking about Eleanor’s journey, she said, “I like that Eleanor started out hating everybody else, held a mirror up and said ‘oh maybe I can be the one to change. Maybe I’m the common denominator,'” she added. “That to me is an incredible life lesson that I would teach my kids.”

One thing we can look forward to following the season’s conclusion is that Jacinto has apparently been taking behind-the-scenes photos throughout the show’s run and once the show is concluded, he will release all of these photos.

As was the case last year, attendees of SDCC were treated to the opening minutes of the next season’s premiere, with a very boring man entering Eleanor’s medium place and her unable to make him excited about anything.

At its new home, the show had slightly less tight censorship laws, so fans were treated to bleeping, blurring, and the occasional bare bottom. It made for a riotously wonderful season that ended with Captain Holt being demoted to traffic policeman by his nemesis, Madeline Wunch.

In the panel, Joe LoTruglio, who plays Charles Boyle, said that one of his favourite thing about the friendship between Jake and Charles is that the show displays men being unabashedly affectionate with their friends. LoTruglio also revealed that the soundtrack to a meet cute between Charles and Jake would be ‘Wind Beneath My Wings’.

Show creator Dan Goor teased the audience about what we can expect in season 7, noting that the season 6 cliffhanger will definitely alter the dynamic between the squad. He also noted that “there will be kissing…and more”, which was met by an excited exchange of glances between Andy Samberg (Jake Peralta) and Melisso Fumero (Amy Santiago – who is married to Jake). Also in exciting news about what to expect in the forthcoming season, is the return of the Jimmy Jab games!

In an earlier EW interview, some members of the cast and crew expressed that the ultimate dream guest star would be Bruce Willis who Samberg freely admits to having publicly begged to appear on the show. Jokingly, the group suggested they should start a social movement to pressure Willis into appearing, with the hashtag #BWilly99 ultimately being decided upon. This was picked up in the Comic-Con panel, too, and a subsequent tweet from the official Twitter page of the show has put out the call to get people in support of the movement.

When SyFy announced the show’s cancellation last year, Amazon picked it up, and on a personal note, season 3 was even better than season 2.

While we got a minute-long teaser trailer earlier this year, the full trailer for season 4 was unveiled at the panel. The description for the upcoming season reads: “With the Ring Gates now open to thousands of new planets, a blood-soaked gold rush begins, igniting new conflicts between Earth, Mars, and the Belt. Meanwhile, on one unexplored planet, the Rocinante crew gets caught in a violent clash between an Earth mining corporation and desperate Belter settlers as deadly new threats from the protomolecule emerge.”

This means that season 4 will focus on the events of the series’ fourth book, Cibola Burn, where humanity is first exploring area outside our own solar system.

Additionally, we learned that Burn Gorman (Torchwood, Pacific Rim, The Man in the High Castle) will be playing the villain, which delights this reporter, not only because I love Gorman, but because I think he will be perfectly suited to play the season’s antagonist.

One thing’s for sure, we can’t wait for what the crew of the Roci have in store for us!

The Expanse season 4 will premiere December 13th 2019 on Amazon Prime.

Created by Graeme Manson (Orphan Black), Snowpiercer is set more than seven years after the world has become a frozen wasteland and centers on the remnants of humanity, who inhabit a gigantic, perpetually-moving train that circles the globe. Class warfare, social injustice and the politics of survival play out in this riveting television adaptation.

Daveed Diggs stars as Andrew Layton, an ex-detective who’s recruited by the train’s authorities to track down a killer. “Layton is a resident of the tail, which is the lowest class all the way at the back of the train,” Diggs tells EW. “But he becomes useful for people uptrain.” Jennifer Connelly co-stars as Melanie Cavill, “the head of hospitality who is also, ‘the voice of the train, she does the announcements to all of the passengers,’ says the actress.

Watchmen is based on the graphic novel co-created and illustrated by Dave Gibbons and published by DC. The new series comes Damon Lindelof and it’s set in an alternate history where masked vigilantes are treated as outlaws, this drama series embraces the nostalgia of the original groundbreaking graphic novel of the same name while attempting to break new ground of its own.

When the series was in the early stages of production, Lindelof took to Instagram about what viewers might expect of the series. “We have no desire to ‘adapt’ the twelve issues Mr. Moore and Mr. Gibbons created thirty years ago. Those issues are sacred ground and they will not be retread nor recreated nor reproduced nor rebooted.”

Lindelof continued on to explain where this version of Watchmen would be situated. “Those original twelve issues are our Old Testament. When the New Testament came along it did not erase what came before it. Creation. The Garden of Eden. Abraham and Isaac. The Flood. It all happened. And so it will be with Watchmen. The Comedian died. Dan and Laurie fell in love. Ozymandias saved the world and Dr. Manhattan left it just after blowing Rorschach to pieces in the bitter cold of Antarctica.”

“I’ve been resistant to the comic book prequels and sequels, but what Damon’s doing is not that at all, it’s very far away from that,” Dave Gibbons, who co-created the series, said last year. “While it’s very reverential and true to the source material (by which I mean the Watchmen graphic novel that Moore and I did), it’s not retreading the same ground, it’s not a reinterpretation of it. It approaches it in a completely unexpected way.”

The series will star Regina King as Angela Abraham, Don Johnson as Chief Judd Crawford, Tim Blake Nelson as Looking Glass, Lous Gossett Jr. as Old Man, Adelaide Clemens as Pirate Jenny, Andrew Howard as Red Scare, Jean Smart as Agent Blake, and Jeremy Irons as Adrian Veidt/Ozymandias.

Watchmen will premiere on HBO in October.

Executive producers Bruno Heller and Danny Cannon came to San Diego Comic-Con along with Jack Bannon, who plays Pennyworth, Ben Aldridge, who plays Thomas Wayne, and Paloma Faith, who plays Bet Sykes. The cast and creators debuted the pilot episode of the new EPIX show, which as Cannon points out is a prequel to FOX’s Gotham.

The original story, which was created from the same group of people who worked on Gotham, will introduce an Alfred Pennyworth we have not seen yet.

Set in 1960s London, former British SAS soldier Pennyworth builds his own security company. One day, he crosses path with the young US billionaire Thomas Wayne, who requires his services. At some point, both have to fight against Bet Sykes, who will play the villain in the five episode long first season.

If you like Batman, but love Alfred, this series is for you! Finally, this character who “everyone knows and loves” will be explored more, Heller said, who adds that Alfred’s story is more relatable.

Personally, I am not familiar with EPIX, but judging from the trailer we can expect a certain amount of violence and creative freedom as they would have had on the usual networks.

Pennyworth will also give us the opportunity to not only get to know Alfred better, but also learn more about the Wayne family. Do not hold your breath when you are waiting to see them as best friends anytime soon, because “they don’t like each other very much”, Bannon said. Alfred only sees Thomas as an opportunity to drive attention to his company and because he needs the money.

When the series starts, Thomas has not met Martha yet and it was revealed that both men will fall in love with her. As we know, Thomas wins her over eventually. We have to wait to see how much we will get to see of Alfred’s past and how he turned out to became a butler instead of Wayne’s main security guy.

Paloma Faith, who is most known to be a phenomenon singer, describes the show as “depressingly sexy” and we can expect to see every character in action throwing punches in some epic fight scenes.

Mark your calendars because Pennyworth will premiere on July 28.

For those of you who don’t already know, Legacies is a spinoff of The Originals and The Vampire Diaries who were two of the most popular TV shows on The CW network. The show centers around the Salvatore School which is home to supernatural teenagers. Last season, Hope Mikaelson sacrificed herself to save her friends and the world from Malivore and now no one can remember her.

The cast revealed a lot about the upcoming season during their San Diego Comic-Con panel. Kaylee Bryant and Jenny Boyd remarked that season 2 will pick up after the school’s summer break and that there are a lot of character interactions that we may not have seen before. Also, Alaric will no longer be headmaster and Matt Davis basically confirmed that Alaric will become the principal of Mystic Falls High, reigniting the high school rivalry.

Julie Plec confirmed that Hope was erased from the minds of the characters, but we’ll still be seeing her soon and apparently Malivore is returning. When she returns, she’s in Malivore and no one knows who she is or that she ever existed. We get to see what a Hope-less world is like and how much Hope affected all these characters.

A couple new characters and cast members were introduced as well. We’re going to get Thomas Doherty as a character who might be Lizzie’s new love interest. The cast said that he’ll butt heads with MG who is another character vying for Lizzie’s heart. We’ll also get to see Pedro’s brother who will be played by the actor’s real life brother. Kaleb’s sister is also rumoured to be introduced as well as a new love interest for Alaric Saltzman.

Another huge reveal was that the cast and crew want to bring back Kai Parker who was a villain played by Chris Wood on The Vampire Diaries. Since Lizzie and Josie have recently been told about the merge, the announcement that Kai Parker might be returning seems plausible.

While the cast and crew haven’t confirmed the return of any Vampire Diaries or The Originals alums, a Freya Mikaelson episode has been written and they hope they’ll be able to bring it to the screen. They also have plans for Caroline Forbes to return but those aren’t confirmed yet.

Needless to say, I and many others are very excited to see what the new season will show us and can’t wait for the Fall.

If anybody thought that the duo who are also responsible for the cult shows Arrested Development and Community would take a break after Endgame, they were so wrong.

The Russos revealed several upcoming projects, many of them in collaboration with MCU actors. I’m going to list them in dot points, because there are literally so many that it would be wordy and awkward to try and put them in a paragraph.

• Production for their next film Cherry, starring Tom Holland, will commence in October. It is an adaptation of 2018 novel by Nico Walker, who grew up in the same area as them, and follows an Iraqi veteran who comes home addicted to opioids.
• They have produced a movie called Dhaka, alongside Chris Hemsworth, about a mercenary who is hired to rescue the kidnapped son of a Bangladeshi businessman.
• They are producing a new version of classic heist film The Thomas Crown Affair, which will star Michael. B Jordan. Jordan starring in the remake has been on the cards for several years now, and with the Russo’s on board it looks like we can expect it very soon.
• They released the trailer for their upcoming film 21 Bridges starring Chadwick Boseman, which comes out on October 24.
• They are producing and possibly directing a version of Battle of the Planets (a westernised version of Japanese anime Science Ninja Team Gatchaman), which follows five young orphans trained from a young age to form an intergalactic team.
• They will be producing a film adaptation of the comic book GrimJack.
• The brothers are Executive Producers of Netflix’s Magic: The Gathering series.

In addition to the announcement of this extensive list, the Russos revealed some tantalising details about the process of working in the MCU. Apparently Anthony Mackie and Mark Ruffalo would laugh the most on set and ultimately ruining the most takes, while Scarlett Johansson was the most likely to nail the most takes in the first try. They also revealed that Infinity War was the most stressful of the three moves to direct, as conceptualising and realising the ‘dusting’ of half the universe was very difficult for them, and the special effects were difficult to get right.

Several of the Avengers sent in video questions, with Chris Evans asking what Captain America did after he returned the Infinity Stones. After first joking that he would “go to the bathroom”, they said that he would have tried to have a child with Peggy, which leaves us wondering…did they succeed???

The duo also noted that they would not rule out working with the MCU in the future, “we would love to work with Marvel again”. One thing’s for sure, though, after the success of Endgame, they can do whatever they want, and it will probably be excellent.

Carnival Row is set in a Victorian fantasy world filled with mythological immigrant creatures. Feared by humans, they are forbidden to live, love, or fly with freedom. But even in darkness, hope lives, as a human detective and a faerie rekindle a dangerous affair. The city’s uneasy peace collapses when a string of murders reveals a monster no one could imagine.

At San Diego Comic-Con, two new teasers were released which tell the story of our two main characters, Vignette Stonemoss and Rycroft “Philo” Philostrate. In the teasers, we see both sides of their worlds as Delevingne plays a faerie who falls in love with Bloom’s character, a human soldier who goes on to become a detective.

The series was initially picked up in 2015 by Amazon Prime with the series set to be co-written, executive produced, and directed by Guillermo del Toro. The script was co-written with Travis Beacham and Rene Echeverria with it initially based on a feature script that Beacham wrote in 2005. However, the trio worked on trying to make it into a film, but the rights reverted back to Beacham. Del Toro stepped away from the project in 2017, but still serves as an executive producer.

The series stars Orlando Bloom (The Lord of The Rings), Cara Delevingne (Suicide Squad), Indira Varma (Game of Thrones), David Gyasi (Interstellar), Karla Crome (Under The Dome), Tamzin Merchant (Salem), Scott Reid (Still Game), and Jared Harris (Chernobyl).

Carnival Row premieres August 30th on Amazon Prime Video with eight episodes.
