Every season, Legends of Tomorrow raises the stakes with emotional depth and goofy antics. There seems to be no limit to the wacky ideas that they come up with and it’s one of the elements that make the show so great! As we wait excitedly for season 6 to premiere on May 2nd, let’s take a look back at some of the best moments of season 5. It was so hard to narrow down this list because basically every episode is filled with gold but here are some moments that were particularly emotional, funny, or just totally epic moments that make Legends of Tomorrow stand out!

Episode 5.02: Ava’s Performance

Ava’s becoming a Legend! After struggling to figure out her place on the Waverider she and Mick are in charge of creating a distraction at the Blue Iguana Bar. Drunkenly, she begins to perform what she believes is a showstopping 40s style rendition of Bell Biv Davoe’s “That Girl is Poison” complete with backup singers and an adoring crowd. In reality, she has driven everyone from the bar away with her terrible singing. It’s an absolutely hilarious scene and she deserves to let loose in the most Legends way! Extra points to Sara being the most supportive girlfriend defending Ava’s singing.

Episode 5.06: Mr. Parker’s TV Show

A wish made by Nora’s newest charge sends the Legends onto Ray’s childhood favourite show, Mr. Parker’s Cul De Sec to come to life. Some parts are absolutely ridiculous, like Gary, the unspeakable train abomination, and seeing the return of the puppets. I love the way they juxtaposed serious conversations like John and Charlie’s debate about the implications of the loom of fate with the image of Puppet Sara and Ava teach about communication and cooperation. Nora is also finally able to stand up to her dad and express how much her trauma of being raised in a demon cult had on her. It’s such a weird scene but also the perfect way to move forward and force them all to work through their problems? Absolutely brilliant.

Episode 5.06: Ray and Nora’s Wedding

After everything they’ve been through, Ray and Nora deserved an extra special celebration. The entire ceremony was beautiful and in true Legends fashion, Gary was the flower girl and Sara officiated. As much as I hate Damien Darhk and am glad that he’s finally gone, having him walk Nora down the aisle was a nice way to wrap up their storyline and show Nora’s character growth and ability to make her own happiness. Plus they don’t usually get to celebrate weddings like this so it was nice for them to enjoy this moment before the chaos began again.

Episode 5.07: Ray and Nate’s Goodbye

Ray and Nora’s departure from the Waverider was bound to be emotional as they are both such important members of the team but watching Ray and Nate say goodbye to each other really pushed it over the edge. These two had a deep bond throughout the show that was celebrated in these final moments together. Their goodbye was paralleled with Zari and Constantine reciting a beautiful scene from Romeo and Juliet which made it even more emotional and full of love. They both were devastated and it really drives home how important their relationship is. I teared up watching them hug right after Zari as Juliet sums it all up with the famed Shakespeare line, “parting is such sweet sorrow”.

Episode 5.08: Zari Meets Zari

When Zari Tarazi starts to have flashbacks of the previous timeline, her brother teaches her about totem quests. She goes into her totem to meet with her ancestors but instead is greeted by Zari Tomaz, the previous version of herself. It is emotional and funny as the differences between the two are clear. Zari Tarazi has the life that Zari Tomaz dreamed of, with her parents and brother still alive but even though she is stuck in the totem after living a dystopian life, she is content knowing that her sacrifice was worth it and that they could have a better life and still be connected to the Legends. Both Zaris are so fun and Tala Ashe’s acting is incredible in this scene, emulating both of them so well and making them so distinct.

Episode 5.08: Mick Gets To Know Lita

When it was revealed that Lita was Mick’s child, we were as shocked as he was! It was a big surprise for this tough loner to suddenly have a family and just adds another layer to an already complex criminal turned bestselling romance novelist. He tries so hard to get to know her after she grew up resenting his absence. As he and Ava travel back through Lita’s history to make up for all the events he missed, they create a hilarious montage that is destined to not work but still is a sweet gesture. Lita was such a great addition to the show and it was also great to see Mick and Ava’s friendship developing!

Episode 5.11: The Beer Pong Challenge

I mean how could a beer pong showdown between Sara and Dionysus, the Greek god of wine, ecstasy, and parties, for a cup of immortality not be epic? He might have been undefeated but Sara’s reflexes, natural beer pong skills, and precognitive abilities that allow her to predict his every move made it a quick victory. The tension was high, the stakes were huge, and it’s just a really fun way to save the day.

Episode 5.13: The Star Trek Kiss

Every television show that Charlie stuck the Legends into to save their lives was absolute gold and the whole episode was one of the best. However, that final moment between Sara and Ava before they escape the Star Trek parody was particularly epic yet grounded. They would be re-entering a world where they just died, a world where they don’t always win and that was terrifying but important. Sara’s speech was inspirational as always and became this emotional climax that ended in an epic kiss as the whole ship exploded. Kirk and Spock were also a significant queer ship that never came to be, so it also feels so significant to see them represented by this new canon queer relationship. I got chills.

Episode 5.14: Thong Song Battle

Although nothing may top the season 3 finale fight between Beebo and Mallus, this came very close. It was one of the most bizarre fights ever as the Legends used random objects from the Museum of Bad Ideas to fight Encores (the shake weights were particularly funny). This happened all the while set to Sisqo’s early 2000’s spring break classic, “Thong Song”. This fight sequence really gives everyone a chance to shine and feels so classically Legends.

Episode 5.14: Charlie’s Rock Performance

What a fitting way to end the season and Charlie’s time on the show. After saving the day and dealing with the heartbreak goodbye of Zari Tomaz, the team goes back to 1970s London to attend a concert by Charlie’s band The Smell. The band has been resurrected and they’re singing a rock version of “Mr. Parker’s Cul De Sac” which no one in the audience seems to question. The whole team is letting loose and just enjoying themselves, especially Charlie who finally has her freedom and found family. This is where Charlie started but she’s no longer running and she’s basically singing about how she’ll always be a legend. It’s goofy but heartfelt, just like the entire show.

In the history of television, LGBTQIA characters have been few and far between, and the ones that did make it onto our screens for years were either reduced to stereotypes or punchlines. We’ve come a long way but bisexuality still sometimes gets watered down as an “in between phase” between gay and straight and often gets misunderstood or used to cause drama between characters. It is often hypersexualised or attached to cheating, and those who might be considered bisexual never claim the identity, leaving it up to interpretation and thus possible erasure.

For those who don’t feel like they are just attracted to one gender, to see a character on the screen that they can identify with is extremely powerful. It helps us see that our experiences are real and that we are not alone. Television allows you to spend quite a bit of time with a character and get to know their entire experience. In recent years, more and more characters have been open about their sexuality and have been exploring the many different experiences bisexual people can have, which helps people feel seen, and helps people understand what bisexuality really is. We still have a long way to go, but every step helps bisexual people of all ages come to understand their sexuality and feel valid. Everyone deserves to see themselves on television and these characters are just a few of canonically bisexual characters that are incredible and deserve to be celebrated.

Rosa Diaz

Rosa Diaz on Brooklyn Nine-Nine is an extremely private person and although she doesn’t come out on the show until Season 5 Episode 10, she has known that she is bisexual since she was 7. When she finally does come out to her friends and family, the plot is handled with extreme care and respect. Her coming out arc with her parents shows a more bittersweet, authentic experience where her parents do not understand it at first and their relationship becomes more complicated. The actress, Stephanie Beatriz, is also a bisexual icon, just adding more authenticity and clear representation to this world. In an interview in 2018, she said, “I never had anything like that representation when I was growing up, I didn’t know how to name myself for a really long time”. Her sexuality is not treated as a tragic storyline, or a problem to overcome, it is an important part of her identity that is named and not pushed to the margins. Rosa’s bisexuality is not her entire identity as well, which is an important step to normalising all types of experience and validating so many people!

Sara Lance

Sara Lance, the bisexual former assassin and current captain of a time ship on Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow, was one of the first openly queer characters in the cinematic DC universe. She is very open about her sexuality and has very deep relationships with both men and women, including Oliver Queen, Nyssa Ra Gul, and now Ava Sharpe, her “co-captain for life”. Sara and Ava’s relationship is beautiful and healthy, with many plotlines dedicated to them working out problems together, communicating and building a life together through all the chaos of their time traveling jobs. Throughout her travels, she has quite a few flings with characters throughout history, and helps some women find freedom in their sexuality, no matter what time period they are from. Sara is never reduced to just her sexuality, but it is a celebrated part of her that no one questions, a trend that is so inspirational and important.

Petra Solano

Petra is another character that has a sexual revelation in the middle of the series. Introduced on Jane the Virgin as a villain, she has incredible character development as she becomes a better person and learns to be more open with others and herself. She figures out that she is not straight later in life, after having children and relationships with a few male characters. Her feelings for her lawyer JR are unexpected and take her out of her confident comfort zone as she begins to overanalyse text messages, get jealous and make romantic gestures to win her over. Their relationship progression is adorable and accepted quickly by everyone in Petra’s life. Her family is the driving factor for Petra’s development, but her relationship with JR definitely pushes her to be more vulnerable and honest, while still allowing her to stay true to her ambitions and tough exterior. Petra is another character that also says the word bisexual, providing more explicit representation that people can look up to.

Avatar Korra

Avatar Korra is one of the original animated bisexual icons. After a love triangle with her friends Mako and Asami at the start of Legends of Korra, she ends up having relationships with both of them by the end of the series. Her and Asami’s relationship was groundbreaking for television and their relationship is a beautiful progression that takes the subtext between the two and leans into it. Their relationship is natural and builds upon incredible chemistry, and instead of just ignoring it and letting fans read into it forever, the show makes it canon. Although the two women don’t progress more than holding hands at the end of the series (though that’s enough in my book to demonstrate a relationship), the comics that follow delve deeper into their relationship.

Darryl Whitefeather

Darryl’s arc on Crazy Ex-Girlfriend proves that it is never too late to figure out your sexuality. He is a middle-age divorced man that realises that he is bisexual and explores his sexuality after being attracted to another man. Not only does he say that he is bisexual on the show, but he also sings it! During a meeting at his law firm, he comes out to everyone in the song “Getting Bi” which has quickly become a bisexual anthem! He sums up the bisexual experience really well, celebrating his identity while calling out biphobia and stereotypes such as bisexuality being a “phase” or that he is just being indecisive. It’s an incredibly fun jam, and extremely refreshing that when he performs this song, people are more annoyed that he is taking up time in the meeting to sing, rather than reacting negatively to his bisexuality. He provides some of the most explicitly bi representation on television and validates bisexual people no matter how old.

Toni Topaz

Toni has a very casual coming out on Riverdale, normalising bisexuality further, when she comes out to Jughead after they spend a night together. She is bisexual in the comics and though Riverdale is not always a show to stay close to the comics, they continue to explore her sexuality and relationships with Jughead and Cheryl. She is very confident and engaging already as a character, and she helps Cheryl come to terms with her own sexuality. Admittedly she really does deserve better, as she is often reduced to a sidekick or love interest and hasn’t had much character development since she was introduced. Sometimes it feels like Toni is just a way to boost Cheryl’s character up more but she has so much potential and should be treated as the independent queen that she is.

Eleanor Shellstrop

The protagonist of The Good Place, Eleanor has never defined her sexuality on the show. However she has many flirtatious moments with Tahani, and they were even soulmates for a split second while they ran through all the different simulations. Eleanor has never been shy about her feelings and admits at one point that she might actually might be into Tahani, though never pursues it. William Jackson Harper, the actor that plays Eleanor’s main love interest, Chidi, confirms her identity in an interview with Metro in 2018, saying “There’s a million different possibilities and one of the things I think the show does well, and [which I’m] really kind of into, is the fact that Eleanor is super bisexual and it’s not something that we just focus on. It’s not the reason for the show and it’s not a thing that is harped on, it’s just who she is”. All the characters accept each others’ sexualities without question and although it would have been great to dive deeper into her sexuality, it wasn’t the direction of the show.

Luz Noceda

Perhaps the newest (and youngest) character on this list, Luz Noceda is the protagonist of the new Disney show Owl House. She is an incredibly imaginative young human thrown into a magical world, and is unapologetically herself. Throughout the first season, she has already shown hints of being attracted to male and female characters, and the creator, Dana Terrence has officially confirmed that she is bisexual. This is an incredible feat, especially considering Disney’s track record with representation. Terrence herself is bisexual and especially pushed back against Disney officials’ initial hesitation because she knew how important it would be for the community and the character. If I had seen a character like Luz when I was young, it would have saved years of confusion and uncertainty. It will be very exciting to see Luz grow and come into her sexuality in the coming seasons!

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow is a wacky, heartfelt show that everyone should be watching right now. Whether you might be a classic DC comic fan, Doctor Who fan, or history buff, the show could be for you! What started out as a crossover opportunity for characters from shows like Arrow and The Flash to form a new superhero team has now become a standalone hit! Although this show has changed a lot over the years, straying away from a classic gritty superhero show to embrace its weirdness and diversity (which was definitely a great decision), this chaotically loveable group of legends continues to be the heart of the series. Their plotlines are rich; their relationships, both romantic and platonic are deep; and their place in the “Arrowverse” is still easy to follow, even if you don’t watch any of the other shows set in this universe.

The original characters already have developed backstories from other shows and comics, and so understandably, some fans who might be interested in the time travel and superhero stories are hesitant to jump into this new world. You don’t need to know every detail, or actually watch the other shows (though The Flash and Arrow are great as well), but a bit of background helps. After the first season, when they begin to introduce new characters and switch up the cast, it becomes much easier to get to know them, but in this article, I will introduce you to the team that starts the series.

Rip Hunter
Rip Hunter is the leader of the Legends, a group of underrated superheroes who protect and fix the timeline. He recruits all of them in 2016  to help defeat Vandal Savage, a villain who takes over the world in 2166. He has not been introduced in a previous series but is the catalyst for the entire Legends of Tomorrow show. Rip is a Time Master, tasked with traveling through time to protect the timeline, but he goes rogue in order to form his superhero team.

Sara Lance, “White Canary”
Officially introduced in Arrow season 2, episode 1, Sara was a part of Oliver Queen’s (the Green Arrow) origin story, also getting washed ashore on an island called Lian Yu. She was found by Nyssa al Ghul, a member of the League of Assassins and Sara’s future lover, and became an assassin with the League for five years before returning to her home, Starling City, under the vigilante name, The Canary. She does not have powers but is very skilled in hand to hand combat and fighting with weapons. Sara was killed by another member of Team Arrow, Thea, who had been drugged by villain Malcolm Merlyn. A year after her death, Sara was resurrected by the team without her soul. They were able to restore her soul, but she now still struggles with the guilt of her past and her current bloodlust.

Ray Palmer, “The Atom”
We first meet Ray Palmer in Arrow season 3, episode 1. He is a scientist, inventor, businessman, and former CEO of Palmer Technologies. Ray’s fiancée, Anna Loring, was killed during an attack on the city, which prompted him to build his exosuit and become “The Atom,” a superhero who can shrink, grow, and shoot energy blasts. Everyone believed that he was dead after he accidentally caused an explosion that forced him to shrink himself to a miniature size. He was stuck like that for six months until he was rescued by Team Arrow.

Martin Stein, “Firestorm”
Martin Stein is a physicist introduced in The Flash season 1, episode 13. He is one half of the superhero “Firestorm,” a meta-human superhero who can control nuclear and pyrokinetic power. When merged as Firestorm, Stein’s consciousness shares space with his partner, and he is able to give advice and guide his partner using his vast experience and wisdom. Originally his other half was a man named Ronnie Raymond, but after Ronnie died, Stein needed a new link to someone else who shared his molecular structure or he would also die.

Jefferson Jackson, “Firestorm”
Jefferson Jackson (Jax) is the other half of Firestorm, and was introduced in The Flash season 2, episode 4. Before being approached by Stein to merge, Jax was a young auto mechanic and was reluctant to join. Eventually, he agreed and became a part of the new Firestorm, controlling the more physical aspects of the superhero, while still communicating with Stein’s consciousness.

Leonard Snart, “Captain Cold”
Leonard Snart was first introduced on The Flash season 1, episode 4, as a notorious criminal known as “Captain Cold”. He worked with his partner, Mick Rory, as a thief using a cryogenic gun to freeze objects and people on contact. He is the brains in the partnership, known for his wit and quick thinking, and even knows the Flash’s secret identity.

Mick Rory, “Heatwave”
Mick Rory is Snart’s partner and a criminal called “Heatwave”, also introduced in The Flash season 1, episode 4. He met Snart in juvie when they were young and became part of the criminal team. Rory is the muscle in the relationship, usually following Snart’s lead and he uses a handheld enhanced flamethrower to commit his crimes.

Kendra Saunders, “Hawkgirl”
Kendra Saunders was first introduced as a barista in The Flash season 2, episode 5. What she didn’t realise was that she was actually a reincarnated Egyptian priestess named Chay-Ara, doomed to find her reincarnated love before being murdered by Vandal Savage over and over. He has killed them 206 times in order to get stronger and maintain his immortality. Kendra begins to work to unlock her abilities and memories, balancing both her warrior and priestess sides. She becomes a superhero and travels with her partner, Carter, to help people using her powers.

Carter Hall, “Hawkman”
Carter Hall, originally known as Khufu, is Kendra’s reincarnated love, and the current incarnation of Hawkman. He finds Kendra in Star City in The Flash season 2, episode 8, to explain the origin of their past lives and win her over. After an initial battle with Vandal Savage, Kendra agrees to work with him and he begins to help her unlock her memories.

The CW released the Season 4 trailer for DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, which teases Constantine, Beebo, and new characters!

The cast of the CW’s DC’s Legends of Tomorrow teased a lot about season 4 at San Diego Comic-Con, including its new trailer packed with action and humour. For those of you who may not know, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow is an action superhero show on The CW based on different DC comic characters. Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill) is a time master who goes rogue after Vandal Savage murders his wife and son. He recruits a team of misfits/superheroes to stop Savage. Now, the team goes wherever they are needed to stop anachronisms and guard the timeline.

At SDCC, the cast and crew of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow teased two​ new​ main​ characters for the upcoming season: Alaska​ Yu​ (Ramona Young, Santa Clarita Diet), a twenty-something year old woman who is easily swept up by romantic notions and fantasy. She is an expert in the world of magical creatures which will lead her to help the Legends and become a superhero. Hank​ Heywood​ (Tom Wilson, Back To The Future) is Nate’s father who has spent a lifetime in the military and Department of Defense.

During the panel, the showrunner Phil​ Klemmer​, also confirmed that Beebo​ (the lovable, fluffy, children’s toy) would return in season 4. Fans of Beebo had already noticed that prior to the convention, the Instagram page was teasing pictures and videos of Beebo, which gave them a clear indication that Beebo would be returning. In an interview, Phil Clemmer also revealed a bit about what would happen in season 3 with regards to the magical creatures teased in the finale. He said that they wanted “to go deeper. We want Mallus to be used as ‘the tip of the iceberg. He is not human, and we want to start playing with the idea that Earth hasn’t always belonged just to our kind.” This makes more sense when you know that Constantine is going to be a series regular.

Another bit of news came when Masie​ Richardson-Sellers​ revealed that she will still be a season regular, but won’t be playing Amaya. She revealed that she’ll be playing Charlie​ who is one of the ‘magical fugitives’ who comes through the door that the Legends opened. Masie revealed, “she’s British, she’s a rebel without a cause, she’s a trickster, she’s on her own mission.” This is interesting news to most fans who were sure that the actress was returning as the beloved character, Amaya. SDCC also released the first​ season​ 4​ trailer​ for DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, which mostly consisted of scenes from the previous season along with a voice-over done by Sara Lance, the series’ main character now that Rip Hunter is gone. The trailer also opens up the door to the demon and magical world which will be a new adventure for the Legends.

Season 4 Synopsis:

After defeating the demon Mallus by cuddling him to death with a giant stuffed animal named Beebo, the Legends are ready to ease off the gas. Sara (Caity Lotz) and her team join Ava Sharpe (Jes Macallan) and the Time Bureau to help clean up the last few remaining anachronisms. The job seems straightforward enough until Constantine (Matt Ryan) arrives to inform them that, in solving one major problem, they have created another, much larger one. When the Legends let time crumble in order to release and defeat Mallus, the barrier between worlds softened. History is now infected with “Fugitives” – magical creatures from myths, fairytales, and legends. Having been expelled throughout time by people like Constantine, these Fugitives are now returning to our world in droves and making a real mess of things.

As the Time Bureau is distrustful of and ill-equipped to deal with magic, the Legends must team up with everyone’s favourite demonologist to set history back on track. Sara and Constantine are joined by compassionate inventor Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh), hotheaded ex-con Mick Rory (Dominic Purcell), rebellious totem-bearer Zari (Tala Ashe), and heartbroken historian-turned-superhero Nate (Nick Zano) as they set out to save the world – and their legacy. It’s the familiar fun of the Legends time-travelling across historical events and encountering famous figures with an added shot of magical craziness!

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow Season 4 premieres on Mondays at 8/7c this Fall on The CW followed by Arrow.

This announcement means Supernatural has been picked up for its 14th season and it will continue its streak of the longest-running series in both The CW and previously The WB’s history. That being said, with so many renewals, cuts will have to be made eventually. While we love Supernatural, could this be the final season or will they wrap on Season 15? We will find out this time next year!

Greg Berlanti’s five superhero dramas have been renewed—the network will create a seventh season of Arrow, a fifth season of The Flash, a fourth season for both Supergirl and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, and a second season for their new drama Black Lightning, which also airs weekly on Netflix for international fans.

The popular Riverdale series will be returning for a third season (no surprise there with how fast it grew in popularity on Netflix with international fans), plus another new CW series Dynasty will be back for more drama, hair pulling and glorious outfits. Jane The Virgin is back for season 5, but could we be nearing the end of the series? I personally think this could be a final season as it just doesn’t feel the same anymore after their 5 year jump.

Rounding up the renewals is Crazy Ex-Girlfriend with a fourth season. However, after the announcement, co-creator and star Rachel Bloom tweeted that the show had been picked up for a “final” season—which wasn’t stated in The CW’s announcement. Bloom and co-creator Aline Brosh McKenna have previously spoken about the series only having a four-season plan, so perhaps this is one that will face the chopping blocks to make way for some new content?

We will find out about renewals for Life Sentence, iZombie, The 100, and Valor in May, but if you ask me, can The 100 really be getting another season? As for iZombie, I love the series, but I don’t think it has ever received the popularity it has deserved. Then for Life Sentence and Valor, these seemed like series that would get cut after one season when they were announced…but I could be wrong!

As we said, The CW does need to make way for new television series and they did recently announce that they would expand their primetime viewing to six nights (Sunday to Friday) come October this year when all the series start back up again… Despite this great change, we definitely are in need of some fresh content. Perhaps some superheroes may find themselves wanting to hang up their spandex soon?

In the newly released Season 3 sizzle reel (watch it below), it includes a lot of new footage, including the return of Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough) and what looks to be an appearance from Kid Flash (Keiynan Lonsdale).

This season will follow the consequences of breaking time with elements from the past, present, and future now a jumbled mess. The Legends will deal with outrunning Rip’s new Time Bureau and the return of Damien Darhk and his all-new Legion of Doom with a mysterious mystical figure thrown into the mix of issues they’ll have to overcome.

Just like the past seasons, our group will encounter some interesting moments in time and in this season, the Legends visit an early version of P.T Barnum’s circus with the addition of a saber-toothed tiger followed by 1960’s Vietnam where they come face-to-face with Gorilla Grodd.

Legends will also introduce a new team member by the name of Zari Adrianna Tomaz (Tala Ashe), a hacktivist from the future who doesn’t want to only fix time, she also wants them to make it better. Another exciting addition to the cast and season is Matt Ryan’s Constantine who will pop up in episodes 9 and 10, however, little details are known about his role only that he will be performing an exorcism on someone.

With Rip hiding secrets, Damien’s new group of baddies, and the Legends still on the run from the Time Bureau, it seems this season will be just as much fun as the others!
