Hunters follows a diverse band of Nazi hunters living in 1977 New York City. The Hunters, as they’re known, have discovered that hundreds of high-ranking Nazi officials are living among us and conspiring to create a Fourth Reich in the U.S. The eclectic team of Hunters will set out on a bloody quest to bring the Nazis to justice and thwart their new genocidal plans.

The series sees Al Pacino (The Godfather) star as Meyer Offerman, the mastermind of the mysterious Nazi-assailing group, the Hunters, while co-lead Logan Lerman (Percy Jackson) plays Jonah Heidelbaum. His character is thrust into the world of Nazi hunting under the tutelage of Meyer after his grandmother is killed by a mysterious intruder in their apartment. 

Rounding out the rest of the cast is:

• Jerrika Hinton (Grey’s Anatomy) as Millie Malone, an FBI agent marginalised at the Bureau because of her race and gender
• Josh Radnor (How I Met Your Mother) as Lonny Flash, a movie star who’s secretly a member of Meyer’s organisation
• Kate Mulvany (Lambs of God) as Sister Harriet, one of the members of the Hunters
• James Le Gros (The Passage) as Detective Grimbsy, a veteran FBI agent and New York bureau boss to Millie
• Tiffany Boone (The Chi) as Roxy Jones
• Greg Austin (Class) as Travis Leich, a young man sympathetic to the Nazi cause
• Louis Ozawa (The Man In The High Castle) as Joe Torrance, a former special ops soldier who now kicks ass within the group
• Saul Rubinek (Warehouse 13) and Carol Kane (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt) as Murray and Mindy Markowitz who are weapons and electronics experts within the group
• Dylan Baker (The Good Wife) as Biff Simpson and Lena Olin as (Chocolat) The Colonel, who are both Nazis living in America
• Ebony Obsidian (If Beale Street Could Talk) as Carol Hawthorne, Jonah’s neighbour and romantic interest
• Caleb Emery (Good Girls) and Henry Hunter Hall (Sela and The Spades) as Jonah’s friends, Arthur “Bootyhole” McGuigan and Sherman “Cheeks” Johnson

The series is created by David Weil, who is also serving as executive producer and co-showrunner alongside executive producer Nikki Toscano. Jordan Peele is an executive producer along with Alfonso Gomez-Rejon who has also directed the pilot.

Hunters premieres February 21st on Amazon Prime Video with 10 episodes.

Carnival Row is set in a Victorian fantasy world filled with mythological immigrant creatures. Feared by humans, they are forbidden to live, love, or fly with freedom. But even in darkness, hope lives, as a human detective and a faerie rekindle a dangerous affair. The city’s uneasy peace collapses when a string of murders reveals a monster no one could imagine.

The series was initially picked up in 2015 by Amazon Prime with the series set to be co-written, executive produced, and directed by Guillermo del Toro. The script was co-written with Travis Beacham and Rene Echeverria with it initially based on a feature script that Beacham wrote in 2005. However, the trio worked on trying to make it into a film, but the rights reverted back to Beacham. Del Toro stepped away from the project in 2017, but still serves as an executive producer.

Starring Orlando Bloom (The Lord of The Rings), Cara Delevingne (Suicide Squad), Indira Varma (Game of Thrones), David Gyasi (Interstellar), Karla Crome (Under The Dome), Tamzin Merchant (Salem), Scott Reid (Still Game), and Jared Harris (Chernobyl).

Supernatural creator Eric Kripke will serve as creator and showrunner on The Boys, which will be directed by Seth Rogen and his longtime producing partner Evan Goldberg. The trio will exec produce with Original Film’s Neal H. Moritz (Prison Break), Ori Marmur (Preacher), Pavun Shetty (New Girl) and James Weaver of Rogen and Goldberg’s Point Grey Pictures. Comic author Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson are on board as co-executive producers.

The Boys premieres July 26th on Amazon Prime Video.

At San Diego Comic-Con, two new teasers were released which tell the story of our two main characters, Vignette Stonemoss and Rycroft “Philo” Philostrate. In the teasers, we see both sides of their worlds as Delevingne plays a faerie who falls in love with Bloom’s character, a human soldier who goes on to become a detective.

In Too Old To Die Young, Miles Teller plays Martin, a cop who is grieving after the murder of his partner. In the aftermath, Martin and his partner’s killer both become involved in a violent, dreamy (and no doubt relentlessly primary colour-soaked) world of Yakuza, cartel assassins and Russian mobsters.

Writer Ed Brubaker spoke about working with Refn last year. “It’s the most Nicolas Winding Refn thing that ever existed, honestly. It’s stylish and shocking, it has some of the best cinematography ever for television (our lead DP was the great Darius Khondji, so of course it does), and at the same time it is a meditation on these characters trapped in this world that’s not too unlike the world all around us, that feels like it’s about to fall apart, or maybe be torn apart…It’s also the most exhausting thing I’ve ever done, writing that show with Nic. We had a 10-month shoot, which I think might be a record, with one director shooting it all.”

Series composer Cliff Martinez talked to ScreenDaily about the long runtime of the series, “For me the biggest change is just the endurance to do what I think of as a ten-hour movie, or a 16-hour movie in the case of ‘Too Old To Die Young.’ It’s ten episodes that are around 90 minutes a piece. I warned Nic Winding Refn, you better drink a lot of coffee and get a lot of sleep when you can.”

According to The Nice And Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch, (the world’s only completely accurate book of prophecies) the world will end on a Saturday. Next Saturday, in fact. Just before dinner. The End of the World is coming, which means a fussy Angel named Aziraphale and a loose-living Demon named Crowley who’ve become overly fond of life on Earth are forced to form an unlikely alliance to stop Armageddon. But they have lost the Antichrist, an 11-year-old boy unaware he’s meant to bring upon the end of days, forcing them to embark on an adventure to find him and save the world before it’s too late.

“I first read Good Omens as a teenager and it’s been one of my favourite stories ever since,” said Michael Sheen, who plays the angel Aziraphale. “To be part of the team entrusted with bringing it alive on screen is a bit of a dream come true to be honest. To work alongside Neil, who I think is one of the greatest storytellers of all time, is incredibly exciting. And, just like the rest of the world, I’m a huge fan of David Tennant’s (who plays Crowley) so I relish trying to save it with him.”

In a statement, Neil Gaiman said: “Almost 30 years ago Terry Pratchett and I wrote the funniest novel we could about the end of the world, populated with angels and demons, not to mention an 11 year-old Antichrist, witch-finders and the four horsepeople of the Apocalypse. It became many people’s favourite book. Three decades later, it’s going to make it to the screen. I can’t think of anyone we’d rather make it with than BBC Studios, and I just wish Sir Terry was alive to see it.”

The series began filming in September 2017 for over six months and it was filmed in parts of London, Oxfordshire, and South Africa.

The nine episode long series is a pure rollercoaster of love, betrayal, hope, and financial disaster covered up within the glittering world of movies. The problem is that you can never hold on to the charade for too long without falling over your own words.

First, let me get you a quick overview of the characters.

Monroe Stahr (Matt Bomer)

His real name is Milton Sternberg and he worked in a circus until he was 19 and later was taken under Pat Brady’s wings. He made him his protégé so that one day he could take care of his company. Because of his empathy and charm, he is admired by their employees, women fall in love with him – even the bosses daughter – and people listen to him more as from their actual boss.

Monroe was married to the famous actress Minna Davis, who died 2 years ago in a fire when their house burned down. Since he is Jewish, he has to face unpleasant situations when a representative from the Third Reich comes into their office to approve which movies are allowed to be shown in Germany.

Pat Brady (Kelsey Grammer)

A film mogul who founded Brady American Pictures leads his company with a strong hand. Desperate to make the one movie, which will bring him his first Oscar, he is willing to do anything. He does what the Nazi’s want him to do and jeopardises his company to the point where he doesn’t know if the company will exist tomorrow. He is known for betraying his wife Rose on a daily basis with every woman who is willing to. As egotistical as he is, he has moments of kindness. On the one hand, he wants to get rid of the homeless who build their homes just in front of his studios, but on the other, he gave them money. However, this was not enough for one of them and he asked Brady for a job. Since Brady values people who are willing to work, he gave Max Miner, the oldest of three kids, a job as a driver.

Celia Brady (Lily Collins)

Celia is the only child of Pat Brady and his wife. Most of the year she is in a boarding school far away from Hollywood, just like her father wants her to be. Celia is helplessly in love with Monroe and does not hide her feelings for him and if it was not for the fact that she is the boss’s daughter, Monroe would have been even willing to date her. Monroe respects her more as her own father does and when she comes up with an idea for a spy movie “An Enemy Among Us”, which could or could not be about the Nazi’s – just not called by name. He decides to give her a chance as a producer. Of course, Brady is unhappy with this situation, but he agrees to it.

The Last Tycoon does not focus on only one thing, but explores a wide range of different topics, which are still important in the present. Politics, which is involved in the entertainment business; the people behind the camera, who are risking their lives just to keep up the mirage of a business where everything is just wonderful; and betrayal, because you are desperate to make something out of yourself.

Now if you’re not enticed by the cast, perhaps you need a few reasons!

A Look Into The Past

Racism, back then or now, is a topic that will always accompany us because it seems that sadly we cannot move away from it. In the series, it goes so far that if you only are from another state in the US you are worthless and called out as so.

To do business with Europe, which was already mostly under Hitler’s hand, Brady American has to please the Nazis with their movies. If the story only slightly has the word “Nazi” in it or a character could point in the direction of the Germans, the movie was not allowed to be exported to Europe and therefore the company would not make any money with it on a whole continent. This is the reason why the biopic about Monroe’s wife got binned. In addition, the Nazi representative forces Brady to fire all Jews who are working in their office in Germany.

Safety Comes First… Not

It takes a village to make a movie. From the screenwriters and the director, to the cast. But before anyone can call “action”, the set had to be built and during production, they have to rebuild it. This work is undoubtedly safer today as it was back then, but still hard work which contains risks.

When Celia is invited to a meeting in which the employees are talking about a strike, she sees for the first time that the glamour does not reach everyone who works in this business and the man to whom she was looking up to her whole life is not the hero she thought he would be.

Women At Work

Celia wants to work as a producer and finally gets her chance to prove that she can do this. But she does not reach her goal without taking ten steps back first. As much as her father likes Monroe, he certainly has a problem with his daughter being around him. Because of that Celia works for a little while in the dressing department and sews clothes. This does not stop her, she takes everything as an opportunity to learn and still is focused on her dream.

Inspired by her daughter to be more as just the “wife of”, Rose starts to work in a hospital as a volunteer and takes care of a patient who will have her brain tumour removed.

And then there is Margo Taft, the most beloved actress of her time, who wants to be seen not as an object but equal to her male colleagues. She shocks with a certain demand she ask every director before agreeing to a new project which make them do.

Unrequited Love

What would a story be without at least one broken heart? In that department The Last Tycoon has quite a lot to show you.

We have Brady, who loves his wife, but cannot stop cheating on her at the same time. Then we have Rose, who is cheating on his husband with a specific someone. Monroe still grieves the loss of wife, but falls in love with Kathleen, a waitress in one of the restaurants on the studio site. And then we have Celia, who will love Monroe forever, but also starts to explore her own sexuality and starts to date Max Miner.

Under Pressure

When the production loses its investor, then the only thing you can do is close it and move on. Well, but what if you lose them all and you have to close your whole company? Brady has to face this situation and he does so poorly. Before he asks the Germans for help, he asks his rival, Louise Meyer to invest in the company who does not do it without demanding something for his benefit. Nevertheless, he jeopardises everything and everyone. In addition, Brady just cannot live with the fact that it may be time to step back and let the younger people take over.

Monroe is working so hard to keep the company alive in his own ways and he works so hard that in the end, he may have succeeded but he has no one to share it with.

Does Everyone Have A Secret?

The cherry on top if you want to call it that, is that it seems that not many are honest to each other. Monroe’s girlfriend Kathleen is not the person he thinks she is and this will break his heart quite literally and will bring him great trouble in his future. But Monroe has his own cross to bear. He confesses that he has a heart condition and does not know how bad it really is, he only refers to it as having not much time left. When he told Minna about it, who was relying on him more as everyone knew, she did not took it good, which started the butterfly effect of her sad death.

Monroe: When will you take me seriously Celia? I can help you. I have ideas.
Celia: I take you very seriously. You made a great movie.
Monroe: Maybe. We won’t know that for years and years.
Celia: Really?
Monroe: How can we know what will last until the end?
Celia: I love you, Monroe. Everybody does. I wish it were enough for you.
Monroe: Me too.

The Last Tycoon succeeds because of Matt Bomer, who carries most of the story on his character’s very capable shoulders. For Monroe, movies are more than just something you watch when you have time. “Pictures like this matter when you have nothing else”, and this is the real plot. He had nothing; he now has no love in his life. He flies in an orchestra from Vienna for the soundtrack of his latest movie and offers them to stay in the USA and not return to Europe were war will begin soon. He cares for Celia deeply and arranges everything so that her movie idea will see the light of day.

I like people and I like them to like me, but I keep my heart where God put it; on the inside.

The chemistry between Lily Collins and Matt Bomer will whisk you away and at some point, you will wish to be there in the 1930’s with then and want your stay to be longer than just 9 episodes. The Last Tycoon warms my heart completely.

Adapted from a scripted podcast series written by Eli Horowitz and Micah Bloomberg, the series sees good intentions, erratic bosses, and mounting paranoia. Unforeseen consequences spiralling out of control. Heidi (Julia Roberts) works at Homecoming, a facility helping soldiers transition to civilian life. Years later she has started a new life, when the Department of Defense questions why she left Homecoming. Heidi realises there’s a whole other story behind the one she’s been telling herself.

The series takes place across two timelines, one set in 2018, and one set in 2022. Within the 2018 storyline, we see Heidi working at Homecoming, while in 2022, she is the subject to the investigation by auditor Thomas Carrasco (Shea Whigham). Carrasco is looking into a complaint about Homecoming from 2018, and while the centre has been long been shut down, Heidi claims to not remember her time there.

Starring Julia Roberts, Bobby Canavale (Will & Grace), Stephan James (If Beale Street Could Talk), Sissy Spacek (Carrie), Shea Whigham (Boardwalk Empire), Dermot Mulroney (My Best Friend’s Wedding), Jeremy Allen White (Shameless), Alex Karpovsky (Girls), and Marianne Jean-Baptiste (Without A Trace).

Homecoming premieres November 2nd on Amazon Prime with a ten 30 minute episodes. And for an added bonus, the series has already been picked up for Season 2!

Married couple, June (played by Maya Rudolph) and Oscar (Fred Armisen), live a comfortable but predictable life in suburban Riverside, California. For 12 years they’ve had the same conversations, eaten the same meals and taken pleasant holidays at the same rented lake house. But after June talks Oscar into shaking things up with a ski trip, the pair find themselves in completely unfamiliar territory. Forever is an utterly original, insightful and poignant comedy about love, commitment and marriage.

The series trailer doesn’t give much away when it comes to the plot, but features many moments from the couple’s relationship to the soundtrack of 1960s pop song ‘Forever’ by The Little Dippers. But naturally with Rudolph and Armisen starring, the series will be full of many comedic moments.

The series stars Maya Rudolph (Bridesmaids), Fred Armisen (Saturday Night Live), Catherine Keener (Get Out), Noah Robbins (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt), and Kym Whitley (Young and Hungry). The half-hour series is co-created by Alan Yang and Matt Hubbard, with Armisen and Rudolph serving as executive producers.

All eight episodes will be added to Amazon Prime on Friday September 14th.
